Yea, I thought I seen you or someone mention that they were a young team. Maybe this new coach can get that defense turned around and Camden can start being competitive again in those big region games.
I wish him all the best . I know coach Wolfe would have gotten more kids out than McConnell did. Not a lot of folks that know football in this town are happy he didn't get the job. Nothing against the new guy obviously but for those who care to look it up.
The year Wolfe left Camden we started a small slide. The team seemed less disciplined and not as strong physically. The second year he was gone it accelerated fast then year 3 we were 1-9 in weak district and had no off season work outs at all. He was the main man that kept us rolling when Ward left for Crockett County IMHO. -

Camden could have been in the running last year if they had any defense. Apart from Huntingdon, Milan, and Riverside, they played really well on offense, but their defense gave away too many games. @Beagle How many of those kids are they returning for next season?
we had 2 seniors one Oline one lb/rb

Congratulations to Alcoa's AD for being on the ball and bringing it to the attention of the school board that the field may not pass an impaction test the next time in getting the funding for a new field to be installed here shortly. I was under the impression these fields were to last longer than this but you can look at one that is 8 or 9 years old and has a glaze look across the field. Didn't realize there was a impaction test on these fields so some of these schools better be ready when the piper calls because $750K is a lot of money.
Why pay when you can get it for free. There are thousands of them like this. Some are federal grants some private . Here is just one example https://sportsvenuecalculator.com/knowledge/artificial-turf-field/grants-for-artificial-turf-field-installation-and-resurfacing-for-schools-and-communities/

The real question is, is he going to keep the current DC? I understand Camden needs help on both sides of the ball, but the defense was really bad last year.
Every team That McConnell coaches plays horrible defense with the exception of one Waverly team. I don't think he spends much time practicing that side of the ball. The only coach i know of that loses when scoring 50 points pretty regular. He was doing it at Westveiw before he started it here

I was surprised when I saw the announcement and it wasn't Josh. Seemed like a perfect fit.
We are honoring the tradition of hiring the wrong coaches . Like 1980 when we rejected not one but two on staff assistant coaches applications for our HC opening The coaches Mike Mansfield and Rod Sturdivant both born and raised in Benton County but not good enough for us... I been meaning to congratulate them on all those gold and silver balls they won in Bruceton and Huntingdon but it keeps slipping my mind

Not surprised with this call. Josh Wolfe is a proven winner and keeps coming is Second? Makes sense to someone who doesn't know football I guess.
Camden haters rejoice we did it again- 1

Couldn’t agree more with you
Appreciate it. He was extremely disappointing. Makes me wonder if y'all shouldn't have at least got to play Alchoa once or twice while Stanfield was QB.
I hope we keep coach Joe!. That guy is a leader of young men and a heck of a line coach -

Just the fact that Westview hired a coach that lost 71-50 to Waverly, gave up 31 to 1-9 Bruceton (Bruceton only scored 30+ just twice last year), 62-25 to Milan, 55-14 to Riverside 72-41 to Milan, 61-13 to Huntingdon, and 47-14 to Adamsville is surprising.
Camden's probably happy to pay for the real estate fees.
Little Simpson can pad his stats and throw for all the passing yards he wants to. It's not going to matter.
One of the most knowledgeable football guys I have ever known said "well they are exciting to watch" lol losing while scoring 50 sucks worse than a blow out IMHO but then again we would score 50 and still get blown out. Simpson will thrive no doubt. Hope the DC gets time to practice.

Where does this leave Camden? They have rather nice facilities, they are a larger program, etc. Just conversation piece here, but why can't they attract a coach that can take the program to where they legit challenge their neighbors on a Friday night: Huntingdon, McKenzie or the like? Beating Bruceton is just not as impressive as it once was. Money doesn't seem to be a problem, just asking? It seems Martin is gonna have a parade and chalk off an annual McConnell Day holiday on the calendar because of the hire. Why can't Camden do this?
Can't do this? Camden Hired McConnell away from WV 4 years ago.. He has been a disappointment since season 1. Some of it was covid some of it was self-inflicted but in truth if we get Coach Wolfe it is a huge step in the right direction.

I tried to tell people last week that Westview Chargers were getting a real good coach and they would be mercy ruling a lot of teams very soon. They did not believe me. Now do you believe me? Westview Chargers with Coach Simpson's son will be mercy ruling everyone they play in time. It will happen. I guarantee it. Watch and see. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.
You said that but then they got McConnell

We hope Matt McConnel doesn't leave Camden, but if he does, we will respect the decision he makes for his young family.
We who? Most folks have had enough of arrogant losing

So why did Mcconnell leave Westview after 1 year and why would Westview bring him back after not winning no more than 4 games a year at Camden?
They can have him losing games while scoring 50+ is as frustrating as it gets. Not sure we did a single tackling drill the entire time he was Head coach here.
I am hoping we can get Coach josh Wolfe. The mans a leader a winner! The Kids loved and respected him both times he was here. He never moved from Camden in the 5 years he was turning around the west Carrol program as HC or the 2-3 years he has been coaching at henry County. Fools if we don't -

Anyone have any insight on how this is going to play itself out? Expect this to be passed in January on their Jan 9th meeting. Could imagine this creates huge problems for public schools and will create recruiting issues and rule violations for many schools! We all know the powers that be, (Gov Bill Lee) will see to it that this is passed. Money hungry private schools will soar, and public schools will fall to the waste side!
waste side? lol

More yards, ypg, and td’s. Going against 3 guys on ER defense with Power 5 offers while dealing with a nagging injury all year. And did a great job at Linebacker stopping Isaiah many times. If I had to pick a player for my HS team Ill take #25 all day
Judging by the way he plays I would say he is the type of football player every coach would love build around.

One thing we really noticed was how large some other 2A towns are in comparison to across Plains. Cross Plains boasts 1,800 people, one traffic light, a Dollar General, Piggly Wiggly, a gas station, a Mexican restaurant, and a family pharmacy/soda parlor. The line gets blurred a little with White House 15 minutes away, but Cross Plains on its own is very small.
But it "ISN"T" on its own.
Parsons really is in comparison . Nothing even remotely that big 15 minutes away from Parsons . Great town great people and a growing reputation as a small town of championship athletics. -
That was a heck of a game I figured #25 was going to be huge in this game on defense. He may have been the best player on the field IMHO

ER has a rivalry game each year with their west side county rival Jo Bryns. Both are rural schools. They call the game “the match in the patch” a play on the tobacco raised in our county
2 Schools in the same county nd you are still 2a? Decatur Co. laughs at you big city folks

They should remain 3A since they will be going back to closed zoned. LC mainly drew from SC and Beech. It caused both Beech and SC to drop divisions. A school should have been built to relieve pressure from Gallatin, however Gallatin hardly lost any students. They county should have created a elementary and middle school to begin with then a high school later on. Both the elementary and middle school are overcrowded and you have 60-80+ kids trying out for teams with 15 roster spots. They are having to create city rec teams under the Liberty Creek name just to have more kids on their "sports teams."
Reclassification isn't until 2025 so it doesn't matter until then

I figured it would have to be someone already on staff or from the community. (Maybe one of the complaining parent's) There isn't any coach worth their salt that would touch that dumpster fire after what happened
Maybe a young dumb and full of himself coach. Other than that you are spot on.

Coming from a sun down town supporter whose players religiously used the N word towards ER players. Shhhhhhhhhhhh!
I saw that once this year. I was actually shocked at all the hard R words being thrown around. The offending team/town will remain nameless.

I am a fan of neither school and it doesn’t matter to me who wins. I am just a football fan that likes to watch good football. I haven’t seen #25 in person but the film I have saw on him he is very good at both RB & LB. #1 has a different twitch to him and he will make a lot of kids look silly. If #25 can get a good clean lick on him he better make the most of it because you ain’t gonna get many.
fair enough.I am a fan of neither as well. I have not seen #1 but I have seen future NFL players play a bunch of games in HS. The lower body and balance of #25 at full speed reminds me of them both. Not sure if he has the total size though. I am looking forward to this game more than the others for sure.

Funny thing is every other school I talk to agrees that your community is a bunch of jackwagons always trying to start crap no matter what sport. EVERY other school. That is a fact. When you have problems with everyone in every sport you are the problem not the other way around I mean what other school hangs banners on the visitor side rails of the gym so paying folks from other schools cant see the action they paid to see? Cancels a football game because of weather but doesn't give refunds.. shall I go on?
I am sure you have some good folks there I have never met any though.
For the record I respect your football coach/program and your girls basketball coach immensely.
