SMH... You are such a hater that you can't even see reality... The fact is winning 6 games and making a bowl game was a major accomplishment for Butch Jones and this team. Back before the season started all I heard was gloom and many people were predicting us to go 3-9 or 4-8 because of our inexperienced lines,the youth everywhere else, and our brutal schedule. But despite all of that Butch Jones was able to coach this team to it's first bowl game since 2010. When Butch Jones talked about us being young he wasn't making excuses, he was stating a fact.The fact is the vols started more true freshman than anyone else in the country and they were doing that with one of the most brutal schedules in the country, and they still made a bowl game. And if you look back on the season they were a few plays away from being 8-4 or 9-3. This team surpassed everyone's expectations. And as much as you probably hate to hear this the Vols are only going to get better and better from here on out. Butch Jones has this program going in the right direction and it's only a matter of time before we win another National Title.

Sorry, but last years Ravenwood team was all hyped when they played Blackman and it was like 50-0 in the first half.

 

I wouldnt be suprised if Maryville has a running clock before the RW defensive coordinator figures out whats going on.

That's like saying your Blaze need a miracle worker in Jennings to beat the 4th place 11aaa Indy team ( you escaped with a 28 pt comeback and win the game by 2 PTS I think ???)

Sure if I'm in Vegas money is shoved to MHS but I can tell you this will be a close game - RHS has a very very good balanced attack that will give MHS matchup troubles - This RHS resembles MHS team ..... RHS can't have the 3 or 4 turnovers like they did in Memphis ....

Those that keep saying that the Oakland vs MHS was the real championship game are so mistaken.

I have said since week 6 watch out for this Ravenwood team as they are flying underneath the rader -

They mirror MHS very much on Defense and this will be the best defense they face this year ( Sorry Oakland ) no real standouts , kids just playing their assignments and tackling very well....

RHS offense well balanced with very talented Rowland running the ball and WR corp may be best in TN ( includes Georgia verb Jefferson )

RHS QB is gunslinger but if RHS has ANY chance of winning he can't throw 2 int like last night nor put the ball on the ground .......

I know GQ will see RHS film and will have his boys ready but for those that think this will be a cakewalk like Hendersonville last year it's not

Honestly If you pick your team to win by 1 point IMO you don't really believe that they will win... I can't remember the last high school game that I've watched that was 1 point... People are giving maryville a chance but it's like how many times do you have to see Maryville win before you believe the hype? No one in there right mind would pick against maryville and believe it... The only people who should really believe that Oakland can win are the Oakland players and staff... Maryville 21 oakland 10

And for God's sake quit thumping the chest over one trip to a Hoover team whom I hear was average this year (by their standards). Especially since it was an L and from most accounts not as close as the score would indicate. Answer that question though; Notre Dame wouldn't touch it. With the monster schedule how many times were Blackman and Oakland seriously challenged other than when they played each other? You guys preach schedule constantly because you've not beat us and it's all you got. All the while ridiculously over hyping yourselves. Those two "elites" combined for 200 yards in penalties last night and one got tossed. That tells me all I need to know about the discipline and coaching to an extent.

Funny as of late when you get the 7aaa in semis you get a battle ( take last 2 years Stars and Blaze ) yes you won but at least you had to earn it

Saying that your right MHS could go undefeated in 7aaa but they would be tested and have to play starters vs RHS SHS OHS and BHS

ND... as a fan I would love to see those games, but at what point can Maryville stop trying to prove itself? When I was in high school, around the time this website started, everyone clamored that 4A Maryville would not win a title against 5A teams and that their schedule was weak. Several years later we bumped up to 6A and faced many of the teams that their fans claimed we wouldn't beat. Now that we're in the highest classification in the state, and we're still consistently in the state championship game, many fans are clamoring that Maryville should be playing Ensworth or out of state powerhouses. I know that to be the best you have to beat the best, but I think that Maryville has proven itself enough and shouldn't have to run out and play out of state teams or private schools in order to prove themselves.[/quotethsnk you

Your right MHS proved itself but why stop , why keep playing the same non conference teams when the only fun thing to be excited about is if you win by your usual 24 plus points ?

At this point it's not about proving yourself it's about wanting to play the best completion

No Oakland or the Blaze are not even in the same zip code of respect compared to MHS but you will see them seek out the best non conference teams to play , hence that is why I give them credit for going out and testing their team - you said it correct you hushed your critics about moving up 4a to 5a then 5 to 6a

For me with your schedule TSSAA should just let your team begin the season in the semi finals ...

You earned the right you earned the respect you silenced the critics but why not now want to play the best around to see if you are ....

As a fan I would want a Ensworth or Hoover ; fact would demand it....are you afraid you will be appointed boy kings instead of kings of Tn football if Ensworth beat you (if they even can ) wouldn't you want to see where the team stacks up - heck sure it would draw 25,000 ESPN etc... No in fact on record as saying cupcake or JV schedule they play it's darn impressive that they win when they have a target on their back and most importantly how impressive it is that team is prepared , motivated and dedicated each week and does not let a team sneak up on them to upset them ( overlooking a team )

Now I know it gets you and pepvols panties in a twist but here it is - sure you beat the 7aaa teams and congrats to that but when you played Siegel or Blaze last few years you were in a dogfight and not a gimme like your typical schedule- so think of playing Oakland ,Sigel and Blaze every year - sure you may go 3-0 but you will have to scratch and fight to win , your 1st team will play a whole game and you will see more injuries -

Sure I want a mid state team to win and IMO it would have been the Blaze . Sure OHS is playing lights out ball but it better hope it holds MHS to 14 PTS or less to win this game

Either way MHS will finally face a varsity squad and not the JV schedule type team
