CPA 41 Webb 28

I love the new Division 2 AA Middle Region of CPA, BGA, Goodpasture, FRA, Lipscomb. A lot of renewed rivalrys. Should be a competitive region. I'm new to this D2 format. What is the playoff format? How many teams from the region make the playoffs?
-
Watch out for CPAs Clay Washburn. He's about 6' 7" now but he's not a post player. He can drain 3s. He was averaging 28 a game last I checked. I haven't watched BA's Darius Garland yet but he's most likely the best player in the state. I'll see him soon. I'll let you know

Giles County & Marshall County are good. They can hang with CPA. But I also thought Giles County was gonna be better last year. Don't forget Marshall County went to state last year. CPA did not. Marshall County's comeback against Cascade in the region tournament was one of the best games I've ever seen. As a CPA fan Im gonna miss this region. You can hate on CPA but CPA being in this region has made every team get better. The coaches will tell you that. Good luck everybody!

Creek Wood should go undefeated again this season. They are hands down the best club in this district. They only lost Edmondson, right? They will plug Dotson right in that spot and never skip a beat. They will go back to state, right through CPA, who lost both their showstoppers. Fairview, the only other team I'm really familiar with, has one Senior, four Juniors, a couple of Sophomores, and lots of Freshmen. We have a new coach. We have size, but depth looks like the issue. Can't predict where they'll end up, but should definetly be more competitive than last year.
Right thru CPA? That laughable. Wrong again CPAs best player is back. Clay Washburn. Be afraid. Be very afraid

Nope. Or a region game. This team is probably better than last years team. It will all come down to the substate game

Much respect to Stewart County. Jack Hinson is my hero. My CPA Lions were in trouble. SC coulda won. Prayers with Jakob Rose

When you recruit like CPA does its only a matter of time before they reload. Maddox might be a good coach and he might just be average. It's easy to win when you are able to bring in athlete after athlete year in and year out. Let's see him go to a county setting and win a championship then we can give him credit. Right now all the guy has high marks in is recruiting that's about it in my book.[/quote
Did you read the responses? Those kids have been there since kindergarten. Are you man enough to respond? You've posted over 5,000 times on here! BTW which "county setting" can CPA not win in?

Wow...was gonna post about football but this is obviously a thread full of 13 year old girls. Or inbreds. I forgot about the Blount county inbreeding. But we got us a jumbotron

I believe Nerd hit the nail on the head when he said CPA has a great group of assistant coaches. CPA has the resources to pay premium dollar for great assistant coaches. I would say only Ensworth and MBA have the same football budget to work with. This is not only a big advantage over public schools, but even the privates in the same division/size cannot compete with the resources CPA has. When you have a staff as qualified as this, you can take an average player and coach him up several levels. This is the main reason CPA has the outstanding record since Martins arrival. This is not a knock or insult against CPA, but I believe you agree CPA values great assistant football coaches and will pay appropriate salaries. There is no way under normal high school coaching that CPA should have stayed on the field last week with the GA team. My understanding is that CPA also has invested in several great strength and conditioning coaches. Again, a big advantage, but not knocking CPA, they want to spend the money to get the best coaches available.
You are right that Private schools do have an advantage over MOST public schools as far as being able to pay coaches. And there are public schools that have $ to pay coaches i.e. Alcoa. ButCPA has no more resources than the knoxville private schools. And they have nowhere near the resources BA MBA Ensworth etc. They do have the best AD in the state. But you are 100% right about coaching being the difference in CPAs program. I'm glad someone finally pointed that out. THEY DON'T CHEAT THEY HAVE THE BEST COACHES. It may be unfair but it is also a knock on the poor state of public education in Tennessee(specifically Nashville)
-
Did they at least score during practice? Because they didn't during their last gameI stand corrected. No scrimmage today, just practice.
-
...And as far as Bill King goes, he's great, very knowledgeable. Ask Bill about public school recruiting. He knows more public stories than private.Parents using addresses of vacant houses, kids living in an apartment paid for by the coach, parents signing over guardianship of their son to the coach so he can legally live with him!
-
FYI for all the CPA haters: in most surrounding states there is no private/public split. Georgia, Kentucky etc. It makes for better competition & rivalry. Kentucky only has 1 basketball champ! I can't imagine how bad you would cry if you lived in a state where the playing field was even
-
AA field is consistently stronger than the AAA field and CPA plays against some of the best teams in the country. Oh and they have one of the best coaches in the country
-
Don't understand why CPA recruits want to play against weaker AA competition instead of AAA. Time for a split of public/private. What happened to meeting in December to discuss this? Very unfair to District they play in and all those in tournament. A very good Creekwood team loses by 18. Play where you belong in the private division.

Not many teams have an answer for Blackwell. I think he's been on cruise control the last couple of months and it sounds like he turned it up a couple of notches. I wouldn't sleep on Creekwood however. They're better than Pearl and I think they'll advance to State. Actually, if they make it, their draw might be better than if they had beaten CPA. Lexington should be in their bracket. On the other hand, the other side of the bracket will probably have Haywood and Fulton.
Agreed. I think CPA & Haywood are the only teams that can beat Creek Wood
-
I think the game was decided when Edmondson was not put on Blackwell to start the game. The 13 point run at the beginning when they had a mismatch killed them.
They tried to double team Blackwell WITH Edmonson in the 2nd half. That didnt work either
-
These refs are terrible.
Yeah Creek Wood would have won if not for the refs
-
Big thanks to Creek Wood for hosting a great tournament. That environment is as good as it gets in high school sports. Its great to see that kind of fan support.

Looks like ALCOA weather for Championship Friday again!!!
I saw that. I just hope its not as cold.
-
I didnt mean in every little detail exactly.....lol
I just wanted you to know why the CPA/Alcoa years will not be like the Goodpasture/Alcoa years. The only similarity CPA & Goodpasture have is they are both private schools in the midstate
-
Time of possession will decide this game. If Alcoa has a few 10 minute drives & CPA only has the ball 6 or 7 times, advantage Alcoa. If CPAs offense has the ball 12+ times CPA will win
-
Really not sure yet, will post a score at some point this week, this series just reminds me too much of the Alcoa/Goodpasture years.....lol
Maybe on paper. But Ingle Martins offense at CPA is far superior to (with all respect)David Martins old offense at Goodpasture. And the CPA/Alcoa game last year was closer than any of the Goodpature/Alcoa championship games. BTW Goodpasture beat Alcoa in 2001 in the semis
Lipscomb at CPA
