  1. So, Central can stop Jalen Hurd but not Hopkins or McCathern? How do you figure?
  2. I honestly doubt they do, but the TSSAA ranking system is a mess already so who knows. lol guess we will definitely find out later
  3. Based on TSSAA's format of Division Winners get seeded first, followed by 2nd Place Division Finishers get seeded next, then all others, the following is the current up to date seedings for ALL 4 QUADS: TSSAA 6A QUAD 1 - Playoff Standing ------- *Maryville [1] Science Hill [2] *Dobyns Bennett [1] *McMinn County [1] *Sevier County [1] *Oak Ridge [1] Jefferson County [2] Bearden TSSAA 6A QUAD 1 - Current Seeding/Matchup for Round 1 ------- Maryville (1) vs Bearden (8) Dobyns Bennett (2) vs Jefferson County (7) McMinn County (3) vs Science Hill (6) Sevier County (4) vs Oak Ridge (5) TSSAA 6A QUAD 2 - Playoff Standing ------- *Siegel [1] *Cane Ridge [1] Bradley Central [2] Blackman [2] Riverdale Oakland Franklin County *Cookeville [1] TSSAA 6A QUAD 2 - Current Seeding/Matchup for Round 1 ------- Siegel (1) vs Franklin County (8) Cane Ridge (2) vs Oakland (7) Cookeville (3) vs Riverdale (6) Bradley Central (4) vs Blackman (5) TSSAA 6A QUAD 3 - Playoff Standing ------- *Dickson County [1] *Brentwood [1] Wilson Central Mt. Juliet [2] *Arlington [1] Independence [2] Brighton [2] Overton TSSAA 6A QUAD 3 - Current Seeding/Matchup for Round 1 ------- Dickson County (1) vs Overton (8) Brentwood (2) vs Wilson Central (7) Arlington (3) vs Brighton (6) Mt. Juliet (4) vs Independence (5) TSSAA 6A QUAD 4 - Playoff Standing ------- *Whitehaven [1] Southwind *Germantown [1] Houston Millington Bolton Collierville Memphis Central TSSAA 6A QUAD 4 - Current Seeding/Matchup for Round 1 ------- Whitehaven (1) vs Memphis Central (8) Germantown (2) vs Collierville (7) Southwind (3) vs Bolton (6) Houston (4) vs Millington (5) **** District leaders, who are seeded first, are bolded and italicized with a star in front **** District runner-ups, who are seeded second, are italicized **** Playoff standings are derived from here http://www.tssaa.org/d1football2012/wildcard.cfm?class=6A **** District leaders and runner-ups are derived from here http://www.tssaa.org/d1football2012/regionalstandings.cfm?class=3 Regardless of a tie for second in the district, the team who was LISTED as second in the district was notable marked as such in these standings. Questions/Comments/Concerns? (Also, please don't berate me for this, I'm just doing my best to align the information for everyone. TSSAA's seeding format is crazy in the first place so if I made a mistake, let me know and I'll fix it)
  4. So THAT'S what happened to the defense. I was going to ask earlier, but just forgot. Who was lost due to injury?
  5. They've lost three games, a blowout to Siegel and two close losses to two teams that are 6-3 (Oakland and Bradley Central). Blackman is going to be an interesting matchup for ANYONE in the playoffs
  6. While that still remains a possibility, my gut tells me they'll stay in Quad 3. But if they do end up in Quad 2, it sets up a most likely first round meeting with Riverdale or Blackman
  7. Dickson was in Quad 4 last week, dunno where they'll end up this week, but you're implying WC won't be in Quad 3. Of any in that bunch, they'll send a Nashville-based team out west before sending WC out west, so I'd look at McGavock/Overton to be sent to Quad 4 if they need a team in Quad 4. Don't know if Dickson Cty will make it back in Quad 3, but we'll find out tomorrow
  8. Don't think they'll be #2/#3 because of the whole "District winners first, 2nd place district finishers second, then everyone else seeded". It'll be interesting, that's for sure
  9. DIckson was in Quad 4 last week and you're right about Brentwood, though, as Brentwood has Franklin left to play. SO, unless Franklin beats Brentwood, you're dead on right about that #1 seed. 2 seed isn't out of the question, though
  10. A possibility, yes, which we will find out tomorrow from the TSSAA where the quad standings are. It really depends on if they move anyone else into Quad 3 from the west. However, you are definitely right there. The winner Thursday (because of the quality loss to Beech, instead of a loss to a near-.500 Blackman) could be pushed into the #1 seed. Oh man, lol, now I'm excited to see TSSAA's playoff update tomorrow
  11. 100% agree. As for playoffs, you ain't kidding. We could easily see both of these teams meet again in two weeks
  12. Correct me, because I may be wrong (serious), but weren't Cookeville/MJ tied 24 apiece at one point in the 3rd or 4th quarter? Granted they came back and won by nearly 20, but that still made the game very highly in question. The fact remains that 3 sub-.500 teams have nearly beat Mt. Juliet. That's all I'm pointing out. Did Portland nearly beat Wilson Central? You betcha, however I can't think of any other team that has been anywhere close to beating Wilson Central besides the obvious loss to Beech. That's my whole point. You can take it as it is.
  13. Close, 2008 was their last win against Mt. Juliet. Season Series 2001: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 21-18 2002: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 41-14 2003: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 27-0 2004: Wilson Central beats Mt. Juliet, 28-7 2005: Wilson Central beats Mt. Juliet, 31-0 2006: Wilson Central beats Mt. Juliet, 28-10 2007: Wilson Central beats Mt. Juliet, 13-6 2008: Wilson Central beats Mt. Juliet, 39-27 2009: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 35-3 2010: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 14-6 2011: Mt. Juliet beats Wilson Central, 42-6
  14. I give the running/passing edge both to WC, but slightly for both. My look on this? Mount Juliet hasn't really impressed me all season long, especially in the last three games. Three straight games they SHOULD have lost but have found a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Well, Wilson Central won't make that mistake again (a la Beech). I'm comparing this to the Wilson Central vs LaVergne game. Close at the end of the first half, WC runs away with it in the second. I know that sounds like what I said last week for the WC/SC game, but I think it holds true this week more than any other week. Wilson Central is 5-6 all time against Mt. Juliet, losing the last 3 before winning the 5 before that and losing the first three of the series. Could Wilson Central win the next 5 in a row per the series statistic? Doubt it, but this could be lopsided victory for WC, almost as bad as when they walloped MJ back in 2004 and in 2005. Call me crazy, but just a feeling...
  15. Jaquell Fitts tweeted out a little earlier tonight he will be out for tomorrow night's game.
  16. Wilson Central will be AT Station Camp for this game
  17. He didn't start the game hurt, he ended it hurt though. And that's not a dig at him either, he genuinely got hurt DURING the game. Separated shoulder/torn muscle from what we were told on here afterwards. For all intents and purposes, though, they held him to 70 some odd yards on 20+ carries. That's "stopping him" better than any other team has lol
  18. Their pass defense got a little exploited against Beech, especially the short game. However, you'd HAVE to think they've been specifically keying in on that aspect over the past week or so, to boost it
  19. Predictions, folks? I say both teams come out slow after their bye weeks, but Wilson Central (still upset after the Beech game) puts the hammer down on Station Camp. Final? Wilson Central 38, Station Camp 14
  20. Didn't see him punish anyone on Wilson Central's end...just sayin'
  21. Thought I'd share this with everyone, one of the biggest hits I've ever seen. And on Jalen Hurd at that
  22. With Hurd out of the game, Beech was beat. Wilson Central throwing two picks in the final 5 minutes and not stopping the remaining offense? Big oops there. Either way, hats off to Beech. Wilson Central should've had the win, but oh well. BIGGEST GAME CHANGER? Why throw the ball so close to the end zone when running the ball was proving so effective and a FG would have made it a touchdown game? Biggest head scratcher there...
  23. 37 rushes for 299 yards. 8 yards a carry. His longest? 44 yard dash The team that stopped Hurd the most was Hendersonville last week (not counting the minimal yardage he had against Station Camp in the first half of that game before blowing them out). Hendersonville held Hurd to 6.5 yards a carry (216 yards) on 33 touches WC will have to do MUCH better than any other team tomorrow night...
