Honestly, SP will benefit more down the road in the playoffs by playing those tougher teams. What would you benefit from a team you beat 21-0 in one quarter by playing them a complete game, besides playing your whole bench? I think in the long run it will make you better.

Supposedly a man from Tracy City went down to Jasper and found out the truth and the people involved in that ordeal. But I'm not sure why he never pushed it. 

You replace one of the three Marion Co. teams with a East Hickman team that's won 4 games since 2014 with one win being a forfeit and you get beat 28-8. WOW!

Yes we have lost good students and teachers and will continue to as long as things are like they are. Student athletes that want better opportunities will continue to move if parents can afford to. The leadership is truly sad in the school system especially in the sports programs.

Isn't that the truth, glad I'm not! Hopefully we will do alot of work in the offseason on our defense and our schemes. And maybe our defense will be as strong as our offense should be.

I truly hope they get all the kinks worked out and we have a great year. All the possibilities are there that's for sure! Not everyone is always gonna be happy about things but name one place in this country where everyone is. Even though we lost mtn. Goat I still have to give you a big roll tide!!! I knew you would like that!

From an outsiders perspective, I think that having so many schools feeding into the high school hurts your sports programs somewhat. What are there 8? By the time the kids learn to mesh and play together, they are out of school.

I actually agree with this. Basketball is the only sport here in my opinion that it affects. There is not enough talent at each elementary school and most coaches want to just have one star instead of play as a team. When that child gets into high school they don't know how to play as a team because they are used to the spotlight! Basketball is a team sport and to win effective you have to play that way. We do need a middle school for this, then all the talent can come together in 7th and 8th and play together and start to gel. By the time they get to high school then they are actually used to playing as a team and not just having one star like 90% of elementary schools around here try to do. Just my opinion.

Billy, I totally agree about the swing pass, lol! I agree about #16 too but we couldnt score every time down the field like CC did against us the other night and win ball games without a defense. No matter how good our offense is! Our scheme definitely needs to change, what about a 3-4? We're gonna have a big nose guard and we should have to good DE. I be honest our linebackers should be a beast next year! But we haven't changed anything in 4 years so is now gonna be different? We also have to develop our freshmen and sophmores to get productivity from them. You also have a bench use it! For nothing else if starters are slacking usually bench time straightens that up! I do know that, especially if they want to play. I just hope things change! Oh yea ROLL TIDE!!! Ha ha ha

Well Mtngoat! I sorda like that. I don't know where it came from though. But yea I know what you mean about it being over and all. Also, I do agree with you about our defense, definitely. But I really agree with beav on the defense if we don't make some changes its gonna be the same as the last 4.Remember why Alabama has won 2 out of 3 national championships is, "DEFENSE!" I want to win Mtngoat, you know? What would you do if you were head coach?

Wow can't believe we're still beating a dead horse here. The seasons over and now it's basketball time. But if I were our coaches I would look at something for our defense for sure! Some things I have read hear I do agree with though and others not so much! But I do know one thing for sure, ROLL TIDE!!!

You should have won you were the better team. You lined up and played smash mouth football and did a fine job i might add!! But when someone runs it down my throat in the first half I'm gonna try something else, we ran the same defense all night! Hope you can get your defense to playing better than last night or November will not be that good to you! Congatulations on the win!! Good luck with fair view! I would love to see that game!!

Well here is my take on last nights' game. CC came in 10-0 we came in 5-5.

First of all CC is not the 4th best team we have played by no means. We have played against better defenses this year. But the defense still came up with stops when they needed to. If there is a weakness on this team that's where it is. As far as the offense goes. No one has run the ball on us like CC did last night. CC has a great offensive line and they did push our boys around. The running backs are a very good 1-2 punch. Correct me if I am wrong #30 White is like a bowling ball and runs very well up the middle. Sweatt #24 is the speedster. Potts is the best running QB we have faced all year. He has more moves than ex-lax. If CC can play better on Defense they have a good chance of making it very deep in the playoffs. But the games from here on out will get tougher and that D will have to play better. You will not be able to depend on the offense to bail you out every game. Because if you face a great defense in the playoffs that can stop the run it will be trouble you can believe that. But overall I would say this is a very very good football team. I mean you dont get to 11-0 these days if your not good.

As for Grundy. We knew it was going to be very difficult to go in and get a win. I will start with the Defense. We could not tackle at all last night. Part of that could be blamed on us and part of it maybe just because CC is that Good up front. I mean they have done this to everyone this year. We have had trouble stopping the run all year anyway. As far as the Offense. Honestly I was pleased we with what we tried to do. I thought the coaches had a good game plan. Our Freshman QB played very well and well since he is not a "runner" he could not get away from the Defense in the second half. Our O-line could have done a better job blocking. We ran the ball very well. Michael Nolan #1 was a beast last night. He ran his heart out. That was good to see. Our receivers....well overall they did a good job. Holland #7 is one of the best I have ever seen. But he is not number 9 in the state for nothing. Good year But hey here is the deal. The future is looking very good. We are returning some great players next year. #7 Holland JR. #16 Mainord FR. #1 Nolan JR. And now they have some playoff experience. Finally I would like to say Thank You to all the Cheatham fans. I talked to several of you last night at halftime and after the game and even at McDonalds after I left the field. Everyone was friendly and very complimentary of our football team. Good luck in the playoffs. And for all you Grundy fans. We have had fun this year and its only going to get better from here.

we could not tackle last night that's true there were several times on the sweep he would be hit at the line and get through it. Did we not have 30+ more players on the bench that might possibly make that tackle? But you also have to make adjustments too!

This Grundy team has talent, best they have had in years! This has nothing to do with respecting there effort it's they have to do what they are told! If you don't make adjustments or anything the game isn't gonna change and we haven't did that all year!! You can't have 1 linebacker in the middle and expect to stop the run up the middle!! That is common sense, it happened all night! You ran the ball all night, only 1 pass play and it was intercepted!! So if I have watched film and did my homework I would have 8 or if not 9 in the box and make your QB beat me with his arm! Like I said before good luck hope things fall into place for you!!

You not only couldn't stop the pass you couldn't stop the run either if I recall first offensive play from scrimmage was 50+ yards rushing! And the same followed! Good luck to you next week but you have rose colored glasses, your defense got exposed by a first start freshman QB with 4 TD passes and a back with well over 100 yards! That's really silly!! Yes he did throw alot, and in first half he was keeping y'all close! In second half all those passes were giving to him ! Notice no scores second half? He let y'all throw the little two yard passes and then tackle y'all! heck we scored at will! Anytime we wanted to score we scored! Grundy never even came close to stopping this offense but one time! I will give up 30 for 69 any day! Our offensive line is best in 3a that I have seen! That big 300lb lineman Grundy had was man handled! There entire line was man handled! Great job cubs! We will work on pass game and get ready for our friends at Fairview! Thk you for picking us to lose against Fairview as well, that's what we like to hear! We're the under dog

Like I said pack your bags because without a defense you will not play long in the month of November!! We knew we didn't have a Defense but a team that's 10-0 you would think would. Thats all I'm saying must have had a cupcake schedule!! At halftime you CC fans were a worried and when it was 34 to 30 you coul have heard a pin drop in your section!! But we knew how it would be its been like that all year!! Like I said defense wins championships! And CC lacks that!!

I'm glad grundy took the air route... Put the cub secondary on their toes and possibly helped prepare them for fairview. In this thread I heard a lot of badmouthing their coach but it seemed that grundy was coached well enough. This game tonight was the first game in five or six weeks that went into (upto) the fourth quarter for the cubs. They needed a bit of a scare to hone their competitiveness. I expect next weeks game to be much more high scoring than the first meeting.

Well coached? 10 times you had the ball on offense 9 times you scored a touchdown!! How can that be well coached? The defense was in the same formation all night never made any adjustments! If Grundy would have had a defense CC would be sitting at home next week! Your defense was about as sorry as grundys to be honest! The only reason you got the sacks is because you were up 3 scores and we couldn't stop you so you could afford to pin your ears back and blitz! Our freshman QB picked you apart all night and when we mixed plays up we could do both! If I recall it was 34 to 30 If we would have converted any extra points or conversions you wouldn't have been ahead!! My prediction fair view comes in next week and gets there revenge!!! Remember this DEFENSE wins championships!!!! And that something both of these teams doesn't have!!!

It isn't that... Of course a failing program should be scrutinized but the complaint that preferential treatment is given because of various ODD reasons is usually proffered by the mothers of bench warmers.

First of all i want to start by saying i'm not a parent of a bench warmer. I'm just a fan that seems to know talented kids when he sees one. Also consider myself someone that knows sports in general and how they should be played to win.The treatment i'm referring to is not only just here in Grundy but its everywhere! How many kids would have went on to sports careers in there life if it wasn't for some high school coaches playing kids on count of politics, or who they are. A kids attitude has alot to do with how he plays a sport, how his coach instills this attitude in his players reflects how his team prepares mentally and physically for a game! Honestly I can say I have heard already that some of these boys attitudes before they make this trip is already beat! Where has this attitude came from? A true athlete is someone that goes out and gives it everything he has and has the attitude that he is better than who he is up against and he is fixing to prove it! Not only to his opponent but to his teammates, coaches, and fans each game he plays in!! That is the kind of kid that I would want to put on my team if I were a coach! We lost games to teams we should have one! We're to predicitable, we have a big offensive line, a good freshman QB (that by the way put up 201 yards against one of the top ranked teams in the state every year in 1 HALF) now that he is back play him!!! A group of that I would say the best receivers Grundy has had. Let's use this to our advantage from the start! Not wait till the 4th quarter and then try something different to make a comeback. Get this attitude instilled in this defense to want to show somebody how big and bad they are and not give up 1 single yard every play!! You have to WANT to be a WINNER, from the coach down to the player and not worry about whose feelings you might hurt by who don't play or who don't score, or what a parent or board member might say! It's time to go to CC and pin your ears back, get your attitudes right, (coaches & players) and show them how proud you are to be a JACKET!!!!
