Beech, Blackman, Cookeville, and Rossview in the first round.

I agree with all of them but Beech. I think Arlington will handle them.

    Arlington

    Blackman

    Cookeville

    Rossview

Those are my first round pics.

Changing of the guard in suburban Memphis with Bartlett (Wes Shappley) really taking off. Arlington is close behind, though they beat split with Bartlett. Houston is a huge mess. Collierville is competitive (beat Arlington tonight). I think that Bartlett is as talented as anyone in the state, if they can come together at the right time. Arlington can give anyone trouble with their pressure.

I am curious how 4A shakes out.

When does their tournament start? I can't find their bracket anywhere.

Dang you missed both games. Although I am confused on why u chose beech to win because they r playing better and better when lebanon just beat them a week ago.

This is why I dont gamble. Lol

    Rossview at Lebanon

    Beech at NW

    ???????

I don't think Lebanon is playing their best basketball right now. Have struggled to make shots in low scoring games. I'm taking Rossview in this one. They seem to be playing well right now.

Beech seems to be playing better and better. I'm picking upsets in both games.

Beech and Rossview both have young teams who lost a lot from last year but have gotten better throughout the year and are playing their best right now.

Its game day! The Beech Bellas travel to Clarksville to take on the NE Eaglettes.

Looks like that didn't go too well for the bellas debut. What happened? NE was pretty bad last year, right?

If a school were to create an online academy and say it is a separate school in their school district, then funnel all the virtual kids there so they don’t count on their enrollment for this classification cycle, is that something the TSSAA would allow?

Hahahaha. "If you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin!" Smh

  7. Ridgerunner said a few weeks ago that it was a two horse race in 9AAA. Looks like he was right. It also appears the same was true for 10AAA with Northwest and Rossview both advancing last night. These two semifinal games on Monday should be intense, highly competitive games. Looking forward to it!

What is the outlook for 2017/18? Who is the favorite(s) this year. I expect Lebanon to be improved.

I think Mt Juliet and Lebanon will battle for the top spot with Beech not too far behind with the addition of the pg transfer from Hendersonville. Hville has a couple of nice pieces and should be top 4. I think Central will take a step back having lost so much to graduation, a coaching change and their top returning player moving to Lebanon. SC graduated their best playmaker and shooter plus a coaching change. Portland and Gallatin will likely be in the basement again.

  9. I don't think so at all.  If an administrator tells a coach " we want you to be our coach"  3 years later is that administrator showing a lack of integrity to say, we no longer want you to be our coach?   Is it being dishonest if a coach is says he wants to stay when there is not an offer on the table, and  then his phone rings with an awesome opportunity and he changes his mind?   Is it a lack of integrity for a coach to enjoy building programs?    Some people are driven by different things, that is not a lack of integrity.  Some coaches really love a new challenge.   Coaches can change their mind just like a parent who loves a coach until their child isn't playing as much can change their mind.

    Well said, sir!

  10.   Add Wilson Central to the list, Coach Wild has moved on again, after assuring everyone  there that he he would not follow his track record and that he was going to stay put. Girls are very disappointed with his (honesty). Franklin High School, don't count on him staying over 3 years.

What do you expect him to say when asked that question? The guy went 25-8, 33-1 and 30-3 in 3 years there including a state tournament. Do you know what you were the 3 years before he got there? 16-11, 12-13 and 18-11. No need for sour grapes. I understand the disappointment but I'd say he did what he was hired to do.

  11. Don't think Independence is a better job than Haywood.....

From a basketball talent perspective, you're probably right. But the day job at Indy is 10 times better (teaching load, $$$, etc)  and living in the Spring Hill/ Franklin area is 100 times better than the corn/cotton fields of Brownsville.

There is a reason Justin Timberlake, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw, Kirk Herbstreit, the majority of the Titans players, etc.  all buy houses in that area... it's a pretty nice place to live.

  12. Will Wilson Central and Station camp, who finished 1 & 2 in 9AAA during the regular season, advance to the championship game tonight? Can Rossview or Clarksville pull the upset?

I was a bit surprised that Clarksville upset Mt Juliet. Mt Juliet had been playing wellI lately. I was not surprised Rossview won but the margin they won by was stunning. Should be two great games tonight!

  13. I think it is wide open! I think Wilson Central is the best team in Regions 5 & 6 but not by a huge margin. I say Station Camp, Mount Juliet, Beech, Rossview, Clarksville, Dickson Co., Centennial, Antioch and maybe even Cane Ridge will have a shot to get there. I just don't think there is 5 points difference between those teams.

  14. Win the games on your schedule and the polls, rankings, etc will take care of themselves. I doubt Riverdale cares what the CoachT or AP poll thinks. I am sure they are quite confident that they are one of the best teams in the state whether they get a vote or not.

  15. I saw Rossview play at Hendersonville last week and they looked pretty good. They don't have the size that they have had but they still play that tough, in your face defense like they have for the last few years. Looking at their scores, I think beating Hendersonville, Dickson County and Clarksville back to back to back, with two of those on the road (H-ville & C-ville), is pretty impressive. HCHSLadyPats, I would have to agree that they seem to be the team to beat again in this district.

Clarksville is big and athletic inside. 10 can shoot the ball. 3 handles the ball well. They have some size and athleticism coming off the bench. They are a solid team and I think they'll be tough come tournament time. It will be interesting to see if they can get over the hump against Rossview. I saw on social media that Rossview had won 13 straight now. Pretty unbelievable considering how close some of those games have been.

HCHSLadyPats, I think your team is the best of the rest but I agree that Northwest and Springfield seem to be improved.

  16. Not sure I completely agree with your talent assessment. Watched them play Westmoreland, Rossview and Central. Central shot about 25% from the field and still won by 8. I think we will know more about Hendersonville after next Friday when they play Station Camp. SC will press and Hendersonville has struggled at times to take care of the basketball against pressure.

Not sure how you rate the talent at Central. They have several seniors that have played a lot of basketball over the past 3 years and play really hard. Still early in the season as they try and figure out how to score without Spray. Watched them in a pre-season play day beat Oak Ridge by 20 and they looked pretty talented.

You are making my point. Wilson Central is a talented team that also plays hard, rebounds well and executes their offense. They are well coached and get a lot out of their talent. I was referring to Hendersonville not reaching their potential, not WC.

In my opinion, Long and Sheehan can shoot the ball just as well as Byrd and Elrod. Their freshman pg (#24 I think) is very talented! #32 Burton is a skilled, stretch four and #23 Branch blocks a bunch of shots and protects the rim. All I am saying is that Hendersonville has a bunch of pieces to the puzzle and just can't seem to get it together. It's early. Maybe they will get it worked out.

  17. With district play starting last night, any thoughts or observations? Mine is that Hendersonville my get the least out of their talent. Player for player they are just as good as Wilson Central. On paper, it's a good matchup. But they just don't play very hard on defense, looked out of shape in the 4th quarter, and they don't really run much of an offense. It kinda looks like freelance. It just seems to me that they should be better than they are. Their first 5 are as good as anybody in the district based on talent. They could be the top dog but will likely finish 3rd or 4th. Just kind of disappointing...

  18. MJ has two hall of fame games Saturday at East Nashville. They play the defending AA state champs and MLK that won the AA state in 2015.

Well, they should find out very quickly what kind of team they will have this year. East is loaded again! I've heard MLK is very young this year. Should be some good games!

  19. Wilson Central and Hendersonville both had strong showings last night.

Lebanon is at 2-0 right now.

Station Camp and Portland also won.

Beech and Gallatin did not appear to get off to good starts.

Mt Juliet has not played yet to my knowledge.
