  1. Gallatin picked up another win last night, steam rolling Whitehouse.

Hendersonville beat Clarksville High (a region opponent) by 10.

Station Camp lost to Rossview (also a region opponent) by 13.

Beech lost to Brentwood by 3

Wilson Central lost to Smyrna by 9

Lebanan lost to Shelbyville by 18

    Portland lost by 17

Did not see a Mt Juliet score... anyone know if they played?

  2. Gallatin is hostin several Hall of Fame games/teams on Saturday... not sure of the schedule. Station Camp is at Creek Wood on Friday. Wilson Central is at Crossville but playing Farragut...Should be a good game!

    Don't know others' schedules...

  3. season starts up tonight. gallatin has rossview at home. i might need to take back what i said about them being higher than 7, but ill stick with it for now. just a bit worried about the defensive effort

Yeah, I went to the game tonight. It wasn't really close after about 2 minutes into the game. Gallatin has a few capable offensive players with Duncan and Hudson but as you said, they didn't seem very interested in the defensive end of the floor. Rossview looked like a team that could contend for the region again. They missed several easy layups around the basket or this game would have been 30+. Maybe the Green Wave will get it figured out... I do think they'll finish above 7th for sure though.

  4. From what I understand, the BCAT (Basketball Coaches Association of TN) is working on a proposal to submit to TSSAA to move to six classes for basketball also. BCAT polled all the coaches who attended their clinic in Sept. and it was almost unanimous among the coaches to move to 6 classes and to split public and private schools. Whether or not the TSSAA will do anything about it remains to be seen... but that is what the coaches want.

  5. Jackson South Side plays Ridgeway December 23rd. Biggest game in a few years for the Lady Hawks to see where they stand against a team that likely will be in the ESPN RISE preseason Top 25 Girls rankings and with 3-4 high level D1 recruits.

I saw Ridgeway at the state tournament last year and they are legit! The Beasley girl is the real deal. She plays under control and makes tough shots look very easy. Coach McNeal does a great job at SS but I didn't see them play recently. I would think that Ridgeway's overall size would give them problems. Will definitely be a tough test for them.

  6. MLK and Rossview were both in the receiving consideration section of the poll.

MLK plays a weak schedule & lost in the first round of the state tournament to a Westview team we don't have ranked in the top 40..

Rossview lost their all-time leading scorer in Janie White.. It won't be easy for them to replace her 19 points and 8 rebounds per game that she put up for them last season.

I see your point. I don't have a dog in the fight. I just know that those were 2 of the best teams  I saw play this summer. But summer camp is summer camp.

  7. Some good teams on the list...But I don't see Dyer Co as a top 5 team, probably not in the top 20. No way they are ahead of Ridgeway (should be higher), Mt Juliet , Oakland or probably even Riverdale. They are a good team, not trying to slight them. I just don't think they are better than the others. But McGraw also had McCord as the #1 coach in his poll. They must be related or something. I think MLK and Rossview should both be on the list. Both made the state tournament last season and from what I saw this summer, don't seemed to have dropped of much. Both should be top 10 in TN in their respective classes.

  8. I agree about Mt Juliet. I think they are clearly the top team in the district and top 2 in the region with Rossview being the other top team. WC went there for a play date and Rossview looked really good. Big, fast and athletic! I look for a rematch in the region final between Mt Juliet and Rossview.

Wilson Central looked pretty solid at camps this summer. They struggled to score at times but that trapping/scramble defense Coach Wild runs will cause people problems, even Mt Juliet. If they dont make the top 4, I would be shocked. Mainly because everyone else in the district seems to be down a bit.

  9. ghs will be higher than 7. theyll host a first rd district game id bet.

You're probably right. They have some talent and some athleticism. Like I said, for whatever reason they just couldn't figure it out last year. They lack size which I think will keep them out of the top 2 spots but I could honestly see them anywhere 3-8 and wouldn't be terribly surprised.

  10. From what I've seen and heard from the summer, it seems to be Mt Juliet's title to lose again. Let's get the predictions going...

    I'll say:

1 Mt Juliet- even without Sally those twins are hard to handle

2 Wilson Central- Coach Wild's trapping style will make them better

3 Station Camp- Young team last year that should show improvement

4 Lebanon- Return their starting backcourt if I'm not mistaken, will need some help...

5 Hendersonville- Sheehan/Jarrett can shoot, can Coach Johnson find them some help?

6 Beech- Lost a lot from last year's team... not sure who will score for them.

7 Gallatin- athletic team that just never seemed to figure it out last year, could be a sleeper if they do.

    8 Portland

  11. You are correct! The coach left due to the administration no longer wanted to play a competitive schedule as they did the past two seasons.  The crazy thing is playing that tough schedule helped the girls get prepared for the national tournament and bring home back to back championships. Once the coach left, the girls followed suit.  LCA is a great school, just didn't want to play with the big schools when it came to athletics.

It wasnt my intention to shine a negative light on LCA. So, I apologize if it came off that way. I think most of the girls probably came to LCA to play for Coleman. So it makes sense that they would leave when he did. I was just wondering how it would affect the teams in this district.

  12. Yeah, I knew that. I heard that basically Lancaster's whole team left. Wright went to Oakland, one went to Blackman, a couple to Riverdale and a couple to Mt Juliet. Just curious as to who the girls were... or if it was just the rumor mill.

  13. He was suspended off and on all last year. He didnt play in the Region semi's because of a violation of team rules, which ended their season. From the conversations I have had, sounds like the kid just didn't think the rules applied to him. I guess they don't anymore...

  14. Just got word Drew Johnson resigned at Columbia Central, accepted an asst position at Hendersonville... Thought Central is a good place to coach? Central has had three solid years the past three yrs.. Third coach to leave in past three years.. Why the turnover?

I think the turnover is more of a reflection of the people Columbia has hired recently. Botenhamer has never stayed anywhere for very long...neither has Johnson. Both are quality coaches with nice resumes but for whatever reason, they don't seem to stay in one place very long. I think the turnover has less to do with the Columbia job and more to do with the coaches.
