I understand why you say you don't like the way they set it up but its actually one of the few things tssaa gets right. If they didnt alternate tge brackets teams like Alcoa and Maryville would host every year. Also if you have 2 number 1 seeds with identical records how would you determine home field? Just a good way to keep it fairly even in my opinion

Yeah it was rather enjoyable. Was a little bad blood from the year before when their coach left starters in with huge lead. And they thought they would beat us easily this year also. Trenton who is in the 2a semis also thought they would roll us. We shut them down too

This was definitely the turnaround game. No one gave Milan a chance and they came out with a chip on their shoulder. And then winning gave them the confidence they needed. Rolling ever since.

looks like this thread will trail about 50 pages behind notre dame vs Alcoa thread. lol But there isn't really much to be said. We have played each other so much over the last 4 years that seems like we are in same district. Respect among players coaches and fans. The first game this year was dominated by cpa. Milan was coming off an absolute heartbreaking loss at martin because of a horrific officiating display. The players, coaches and fans were still talking about it all next week. Milan was starting a new quarterback and the game being on Thursday was weird too. The crowd and stands had absolutely no emotion. I fully expect a focused and improved Milan team Friday night to show up. However don't know if they can slow down a very talented cpa team. Should be a lot more fun game this time. hickman boys played hard and didn't quit but Milan had to work to keep it under 50

sorry meant more along the lines of injuries. Not so much an early blowout. Having a hard time reading this game. Hard to not think about the way we shut down Camden last week and then this hickman team lost to them. But I also know teams get better as year goes on. We are prime example. Light years different than first half of season. Guess that's why they play the game and why sports is so much fun. find out in about 24 hours

I don't think the problem with privates is so much "recruiting". Its the fact that there kids can come from anywhere and there are no zones. But I agree that the public open enrollment is much more of a problem. A small tuition and willingness of parents and kids to get to school are the only roadblocks. Lots of school systems in west Tennessee are still under federal injunctions that require kids to go to certain schools. That is exactly why Jackson public school football is very subpar and the privates are pretty good. Gibson county has special school districts in all cities. And when the white flight hit Humboldt hard they got the feds involved and sued. Now the school zones are strictly enforced. If Milan Humboldt Medina and Trenton wanted to have open zones and all the athletes chose to go to one school that school would be an absolute juggernaut. But anyway that's just my opinion. And before the Blount County goons reply let me say this...You guys don't cheat because there are no TSSAA rules against open enrollment so therefore getting players outside of your school district is perfectly legal. However I think everyone would just like to once hear one of you say it definitely helps. Not to take away from the hard work your players put in or the great coaching you have but any coach will tell you great players make great coaches.

I watched some waverly and hickman county film. Hickman looked like a lot better team. And you can only play who you are scheduled to play but let me tell you that waverly was the worst 9-2 team I've seen in awhile. They were horrible on offense. They couldn't slow down hickman's pass rush and refused to run the ball

hey bpm I have heard conflicting reports on that. Heard they may not be as banged up as initially thought. But who knows. we will worry about that next week if necessary.
