  1. Why are people even saying greenback will represent the east. Greenback hasn't been past the third round since the early 90s. What makes everyone think this year will be different?

Great post! Every year we hear about how great Greenback is and its the best team they've had in years and everyone in 1A better watch out....then come the playoffs...we heard how Coalfield made it to the state championship game during the worst football for 1A in the east in as long as people can remember...so what does that say about Greenback?

I'm excited to see the Coalfield-Greenback rivalry stick around.

  2. No setup here pal. I'm not crowing about my team. My team would also lose to the west representative by 35 or more. Ask around, you will find out. I'm right a lot more than I'm wrong. Greenback might have a decent team in 2015, but in the ball park with some of the west teams? Not a chance. Stay around here long enough and I will educate you. LMBO

Didn't you pick Greenback over Coalfield in the playoffs last year?

  3. Nope it was losing to Coalfield.LOL.The man was in the United States Army served in Iraq and he is afraid of losing to Coalfield,im sorry but that is a ridiculous assumption. He has a great opportunity and gets to spend time with his family,we all would pray for those opportunities. It was his second year as a head coach and he did a pretty good job.Why does everything have to be about CHS you all finally made the State game in one of the worst eastern Tenn football yrs that i can remember so you all enjoy that and we will find us another coach and get to work.

No one said he was afraid of losing to Coalfield. But from what I here about irate parents after losing to Coalfield this past year, you'd be stupid to not assume that made his decision easier.

All we've heard from the past few years is how much better a team Greenback had than Coalfield, but at the end of the year Coalfield proved over and over again that better doesn't always convert over to wins.

Our kids had a lot of heart and played their butts off so quit taking their success this year away from them by saying it was the worse season in East Tennessee football that you can remember.

I hope he is successful in all he does in life.

  4. I hope your just acting like an idiot and arent one in real life.He has a young family and it really was a tough decision for him he loves the kids.I wish him the best.I dont think he really understood how much time is involved now days in this sport its a year round thing.

I don't think he was acting like an idiot at all. If they beat Coalfield this past year, I'd bet money he'd still be the head coach today. I understand family and all, but success makes it easier to stay.

Good luck to him and Greenback in the future.

  5. 5 kids is too many to make all state unless you are some super team like Union City. A team with 5, true all state players is one of those rare undefeated or one loss teams. The 2010 SP team that won the state only had 2-3 all state players. Nashville Christian only having one represented is a complete joke.

I disagree with NCS being the obvious second best team.

  6. Were going through the same thing. My son goes back to the dr Monday to get the surgery scheduled. He played all year on a completely torn PCL and partially torn ACL. Good luck to your boy as we will be praying for him a quick recovery.

Thank you for the prayers. He missed his junior year after surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff. He dislocated the same shoulder in Week 0 against Copper Basin and played all year with that injury.

I'll be praying for a successful surgery and recovery for your son as well.

  7. Being a UC fan I'm very proud of what our team has accomplished, but this post is about Coalfield. I live in a small community near UC and understand how much pride smaller communities can have. My hats off to Coalfield. They were told all week that they didn't belong here. They didn't believe it. They played hard from the opening kick and when they got behind I never saw anyone give up nor did I see any of their fans leave early. I also have to say something about Stewart and Bible. Stewart played hard every minute he was on the field. Will enjoy watching him at Tennessee. we've been a good tackling team all year but today Bible pulled loose from some good hits and it took a 2nd or 3rd tackler to bring him down. Both players lived up to the hype about them.

Over the last few years we have played some very spirited games with SP and WC. Because of the interaction with those schools and their fans and the respect I have gained for them, I now follow them every week. Tonight  I added Coalfield to that list.

Thank you for the compliments...he has a heart that can be matched by no one.

  8. Congrats again to the Coalfield football team on the most successful season in school history...that Silver trophy will look great in the trophy case and you should all be proud of your accomplishments...to the four seniors, this chapter of your life is over so its time to open another...I hope all of you pursue your dreams and have happy, healthy and successful lives....and to 34...I am one proud dad and I love you very much.

  9. From what I seen I do believe LC could beat CF. Not to knock them at all just my thoughts after watching the game. And numbers don't matter yea that might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If numbers don't matter why did UC take Westview off the schedule after UC took a whoopin from Westview for 5 straight years. If numbers don't matter where was all of UC gold balls when they played 2A. So think about your statements next time before you say something else that dumb.

No offense, but Lake County would not beat Coalfield.
