  1. 9AAA vs 10AAA

Who can give me a quick run down of the top 4 in district 9AAA?

Heres what I can tell you about 10AAA.

They have about 6 teams that were evenly match towards the end of the season and the beat up on each other pretty good this year. The top 4 are Clarksvile, Kenwood, Northeast, and Northwest. (not in that order)

Clarksville biggest weapon is there coach, he has this young team believing they can beat anybody. What they lack in talent they more then make up in other places. Year after year they play there best basketball during tournament time, this year is no different. This is the sleeper team.

The best team is probably Kenwood who has 4 or 5 guys at 6-4+ lead by Matthew Norl who is strong enough to match up with the big kid from SC. But Norl played point gaurd all last season so that could be a fun match up to watch. There PG this season (Tyree Boykin) handles the ball as good as anyone in the league I'm not sure anyone has ripped him this season. His dad is Coach Terry Boykin (Playermaker Academy)

Northeast is lead by Nick Green and is the only team that beat Kenwood twice this year. If they get it going they can beat any team in the field by double digits. But they can also lose to any team in the field by double digits. Not very consistent if you play them just hope you don't catch them on a good day.

Northwest won the regular season 10AAA title and they probably have the best back court in the league lead by Elijah McCoin who is capable of  dropping 30. I think he was this seasons MVP aswell. They also have a 7 footer, ok he's not 7 foot but he's every bit of 6-10 hes a late basketball bloomer and he is starting to turn into a big time difference maker. This team could be the 4 seed and that's scary.

  2. Where is looking for talent's stats for brentwood vs wilson Central?

    BHS 107.4

    WC  98.8

Sorry I was out trolling other threads this one seemed dead my picks were Brentwood, Hamilton, Arlington and Oak Ridge with Brentwood winning it all. When you play at state everything is different. I have gained a lot of respect for WC this year honestly the trap they run is as impressive as I've seen at the HS level but I don't think they or any team that relays mainly on there traps will be succesfull at the state level. Coaches have to realize that going from the standard 84ft HS court to a 94ft college court makes that same full court/half court trap about 75% less effective an extra 500 sqft is huge for spacing. It is the same reason I belive Dyer County will not win at the state level. But will continue to have sucsess at regional level and below. Teams thats staple is traditional half court defense and have good offensive set will half the most success. And is why I like Brenwood to host the trophy

  3. Any team that counts on a press to win can probably be counted out. (Wilson Central, Dyer County) I like Brentwoods chances. They have to be favorite. If Hamilton can beat Dyer County I like Hamilton as the second best team followed by Arlington then Siegel.

  4. So this is the only AAA game on the books tonight here is probably the best/clearest radio station to listen to the game they are also very neutral. http://player.liquidcompass.net/WKFNAM.

These teams play very similar styles of basketball they don't rely on traps, speeding up the game or other gemics to win a game. Honest heavyweights going at it my half court is better then your half court style of basketball!

Kenwood brings 2 legit D1 caliber players and A Mr. Basketball finalist in Norl and they are slightly better on the offensive side Brentwood plays slightly better team defense. Game is sold out this one should be fun to watch.

I belive the winner of this one is favorite next to White Station to win State. Game will probally be in the 40's or 50's. Anything higher leans advantage Kenwood. I don't think Kenwood has to play there best game of the season to win but it will have to be above average since playing at Brentwood has to be worth about 10 points.

Good luck to all and one set of seniors will experience a heartbreaker. Which is unfortunate.

Side note: Andy Schumpert (Brentwood), Daniel Norl and Jamario River (Kenwood) played together this summer with the nationally ranked D13 elite AAU squad. So they know each other's game a little better than most opponents.

  5.  In your eyes Cheatham County would beat the Miami Heat because of there team chemistry, great senior leadership, and will to win. Which is a clear sign that getting you to see anything regarding your untouchable cubs from someone else's perspective is useless. I will return to this thread when the time comes for you to eat crow. Untill then I will let this thread die.

Read above as to why I showed up 2 month later. Because you were chripping 2 months ago about a theoretical match up against CPA and how the Cubs could match up with them and give them a good game. WRONG dropped by 30...tragic..... People leaving after half time. So how about you shut up and stop talking with your mouth full as I know your still working on that crow.

  6. There is no way that Cheatham County loses by 20-25 points.

    Humble Pie!

I'll come out and say it right now.  The trio of Harlan, Darden, and Saunders will out play the trio of Bonds, Blackwell, and Allsmiller on Monday night.  I also believe that if Cheatham is to have a shot to win the game Austin Douglas has to step up and be the "x-factor" for the Cubs.

Daniel Norl is a great basketball player but he is not the best player in the state of Tennessee.  That is a "homer" prediction if I have ever read one.

    .

Speaking of Homer predictions. Did you predict one single thing right about this game? My guess is you never saw CPA play this year when you were running off at the lips loosely. Let see 7 points for Saunders 0 in the first half. Darden 2 point in the first 3 quarters and garbage points in the forth as the game was long decided. No blow out huh? This was the poster child of blow outs. Perhaps now you will admit maybe I'm not bitter about a prior loss. But instead that I truly saw a match up problem for CC everywhere on the court. Or maybe it's just that you were in such denial because you have a vested interest in the matter, can't blame you for supporting your team. Either way more humble pie my friend.

  7. Wasn't Cheatham's best night. CPA is a dominant team. Hope you have better luck against Brentwood than you did against the Cubs.

Everyone has a bad night and I do feel bad for the seniors that it came on the last game of the season. Belive when I say Kenwoods worst game this season was against Cheatham Co. You guys did not see the real Kenwood team show up that night.

  8. Kenwood did not play "horrible" at all vs Cheatham County.  They didn't play great by any means but they didn't play awful.  Hairston shot the ball extremely well in the game.  Norl and Saunders pretty much evened each other out in the game.  Darden outplayed Rivers in that particular game but in most meetings you would have to say that those two guys would even one another out.  The difference maker in the game was a "ball handler" for the Cubs named Wesley Harlan who had a field day.  CPA "may" beat Cheatham County but it won't be by 20+.  The only way that happens is if Saunders, Harlan, or Darden:

    a.)  have the flu

    b.)  get suspended

c.)  get kidnapped before the tip

    d.)  get injured during warm-ups

e.)  get injured during the game

f.)   get thrown out of the game

g.)  get in early foul trouble and 2 of the 3 have to sit the majority of the game

h.)  miss the bus (assuming the game is not at CCCHS)

The list of possibilities is endless.  I would love to see CPA play Cheatham in a game where everyone is healthy, the game is called fairly, and the boys on the floor get to decide the outcome.

i). All show up healthy then realize they don't belong in the same gym.

I'll go with i) after the 30+ point loss

  9. somehow Kenwood is talented enough to play CPA tight, yet Cheatham could play their best and lose by 20. Now I know comparing scores in a small sample size is a faulty way of predicting future outcomes, but I am really having trouble following your analysis here. Cheatham could be a 20 point underdog vs the Lions, but I think they cover that spread on their best night.

You still having trouble follow that analysis

  10. Dominique Redding she definitely has that Pat Summit fire. I remember her ripping into the team after a loss she was so loud the whole gym, fan, parents and about 20 d1 coaches/scouts were just looking at her in disbelief. I felt like she could have saved it for the locker room/bus. It was a love hate relationship like most.

  11. Yea Andy didn't play that much but he was that workhorse that every team needs. Some other names on that team that might sound familiar to you Braxton Bonds, Braxton Blackwell, Jake Allsmiller, Jaylen Barford, Marcus Graves. The team was legit and was ranked in the top 15 nationally. They would have probably been ranked higher but a mid season name change to D13 elite threw a lot of voters for a loop.

  12. I ran across the video highlights of Stone vs Cleveland. You can see the play around the 7:39 mark.

    http://youtu.be/KV_fpXAsZJc

Horrible call but classy kids from Cleveland the fact that they waited for the other team to stop celebrating with other student to shake their hands after the game, knowing that they had heavy hearts and got robbed. You may have losses that game but you gained a random fan. Classy program well done Coach.

  13. Unfortunately the game won't take place in Murfreesboro however it is very fortunate that we (basketball fans) do have the opportunity to see such a great game.  Go Cubs!

LBD trying to start a new thread about the same topic that has been discussed in 2 or 3 other threads will not change people's opinions especially if they have seen both teams play. This game will not be close like you want to belive so bad CPA is just better in every position. Let it go you not gonna find more then 2 people to support you on this one. CPA wins big the sooner you except it the better it will be for you once it happens.

  14. FYI @lookingFORtalent, I don't know if you're a Kenwood or HL fan, but I watched some film of Kenwood today from regionals and I think they run some pretty legit screens to spring their guys open and get clean shots. Impressed how Rivers leads the 1-3-1 up top. Pretty much all their guys can shoot although Daniel is obviously the guy.

#BattleOfTheWoods: Sectional Edition should be fun.

I think this is a good match up BW has 5 guys that have shot like 30+ 3s this year and defend very very well. I think who never defends better wins. both team probaly score in the 40s if you like defense this one will be fun to watch. By the way did you know Andy Daniel and Jamario played together this summer (AAU).

  15. I agree personal attacks no matter how true are probally uncalled for Saunders has a 2.0 GPA ok Saunder is a poor shooter is ok."Saunders is a punk" crossing the line. But with that said I agree the kid has to work on the addtitude CC fans likes to pass it of as him being a fierce competitor who will do anything to get the win. But the true colors of a fierce competitor comes out after a loss. I have tape of this kids reaction after lossing to Kenwood last year no CC fan would be proud of it. But good info I was wondering why he had no offers yet because I think he's good enough to play at the next level.

  16. How many times have you seen Harlan play? My guess is only one when he went off and led the destruction of your beloved Knights, yet you want to pick and choose various stats to take shots at him. The facts are that he has played well in most of Cheatham's big games this year. He also knocked down 5 3's in District Championship win, shoots over 40% from 3, and has about a 3-1 assist to turnover ratio-pretty good for a pg. Not to mention that he is one of the best, smartest, and hardest working kids you will ever meet. Talent, you are simply a turd and I will not stoop to your level and try to diminish the abilities and accomplishments of high school kids on an anonymous message board. Nobody said Harlan was the next coming of AI, they said he was a big game player and would come to play on Monday and those are facts. Go Cubs!!

I've seen Harlen play about 10 games but I can't remember if the first time was when Kenwood beat Cheatham by 50 and he didn't score or when they beat them by 20+ and he scored 2pts or maybe it was in another loss against Kenwood when he scored 3. But more recently I do remember him playing in the Nashville fall league around Sept-Oct 2013 (the best players in the area play in this league) where he was on the championship team lead by Daniel Norl Jamario Rivers and Matthew Norl of Kenwood. In fact D.Norl was the MVP of the league and Harlen came off the bench most of the games and might have contributed 10 pts the whole season. Bright spot for cheatham was that Saunders received 1st team honors over Jake Allsmiller, Braxton Bonds of CPA who were voted to 2nd team. But Harlen was no where to be found when the stars aligned.

My point is it is just flat out fools gold to think Harlen is somehow going to magically have another 28 point game against CPA or that he plays big time during the big game "(ie. kenwood)" nothing in his past warrants that statement. He may be a great kid, but on the basketball court he is 5-8 and very average. CPA will make it further evident in a few days.

  17. The last time CPA saw Jordan Darden he was dunking on Jalen Lindsey's head. Rewind to November of 2012 if you don't believe that sir. You're absolutely right about Saunders too. He's a great player. Harlan is a "big game" player. He plays his best in big games (i.e. Kenwood).

This really has to stop. So Harlen has an out of body experience when he plays Kenwood. Goes off for 28 points misses one shot the whole game, and now you label him a great player who plays his best in big games? Give me a break. Here's the truth, Harlen has never in his HS school career had another 20+ game. In fact he has more games where he scored 2 points or less then he has in games where he scored double figures. This season he has had around 10 games in the single digits. He averages 12 ppg so far, but in his last 10 game he is averaging 9 ppg, and in his last three 7ppg. And you want us to buy that he is going to go off against CPA and have another 25-30 point night. Really this circus has to stop. This is becoming laughable
  18. There is no way that Cheatham County loses by 20-25 points.  Posters like lookingFORtalent are what make the message boards entertaining (in spite of his opinions).

Well I'm glad to see that someone embraces the idea of different opinions. If we all agreed how boring would that be . With that said I do agree with you that the trio of CC will have a better stat line then the trio of CPA. The real question is do the CPA starter get pulled mid way through the 3rd or the beginning of the 4th, and beside you guys go 4 deep the only reason you put 5 on the court is because I think thats part of the rules. NO BENCH your best 4 players account for like 95% of your scoring.

  20. That is utter baloney! The only thing I said involving "race" was asking if you thought Brentwood or WC were "less talented" bc they are mostly white. I could just as easily accuse you of racial profiling for insinuating that Brentwood and WC aren't as talented for that reason. That's what you're saying, aren't you?

Here's some straight-up facts for you: Brentwood ran far more offensive and defensive sets/schemes than Cane Ridge or Hunters Lane. I don't have to throw race into this at all to say that Brentwood outprepared both of those teams, because the one-dimensional strategy for both of the Metro opponents (who got embarrassed) was to wait for seams to open on the perimeter and penetrate and score. There were no real set plays designed for any of their players. There was very little (relative to Brentwood's game plan) confidence in their shooters to set up and hit outside shots. Their entire game plans were predicated on hoping Brentwood would be a step slow at times so that they could drive and hit layups.

Meanwhile, Brentwood back-doored each of those teams to death and passed as many times as they needed to find an open man for either an uncontested three or a relatively uncontested easy two.

THAT is called DISCIPLINE. You can talk all you want and get sanctimonious about whatever "overtones" you hear, but the fact is that Brentwood was either more talented than either of those teams (which most fans of either of those teams would be very reluctant to state) or that they were smarter and outworked both of those teams. Which one is it?

I've overheard some of Brentwood's opponents' players in the past few games say things out loud that indicate it's basically "unfair" that Brentwood did enough film study to stifle their one or two effective halfcourt sets. Players talking over coaches and each other, panicking like they had no idea what to do. Does this make those teams more "stupid" than the team they lose to? Or does it make them less prepared? It has to be one of the two. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Once again, as Brentwood and Wilson Central are both relieved they don't have to play each other in sub-state for a third-straight year, I will give WC the same credit I'm giving Brentwood: their infamous 1-2-2 zone is the product of years of hard work and attention to details in practice preparation. I'll be the first to say that Norl and Rivers are 2 of the 3 most talented players between those two teams, but if you can't scout your opponent and find a way to win against their system, how can you say the team that lost was just as prepared as the team that won?

Kenwood will be a great test for Brentwood because they have some elite players themselves and have had a great season, so I can only really speak for the level of preparation put forth by Hunters Lane and Cane Ridge. That said, while you're whining about "racial overtones", I haven't seen anyone say that Brentwood or WC are either more talented than the teams they've faced; are smarter than the teams they faced; or are harder working than the teams they've faced. Or do you just think the refs were paid off?

For starters I am not insinuating anything about Brentwood, Kenwood, Hunters Lane or RACE. That was all you. What I was insinuating is exactly what I said Wilson Central probably has the least overall talent as any team left in the field of 16. Which I followed up with saying but they have a chance of beating anyone with that trap. That was a completment in case you missed it. Being able to win with less talent is the hardest thing to do as a coach. WC seems to be a champion in that category. You we're the one who brought up athleticism smarts race ext. WC coach acknowledge it this morning in the paper with the quote below that they are lacking in that athleticism department.

Wildcats coach Troy Bond said “We’re not the most athletic team in the world and we’re not going to run up and down the floor, but if we can speed you up in the half-court, we feel like we have the advantage.†

Now where you fuqed up was coming on here talking about "they may be white but" and "Teams with athletes can beat most teams but they can't beat teams with smarts who prepare" you are implying that WC and Brentwood have smarter players since they both beat teams full of black players who can only "penetrate and hope you don't know how to play defense, because they can't shoot worth a lick and don't run very sophisticated/cerebral sets". Now you can fancy your self better because the big bad Brentwood prepares, scouts, and watches tape. But that all comes second the execution. Coach Stigall is an excellent Xs and Os coach and I have seen the 3-5 page scouting reports he gives his players before every game, details down to players dominate hand, weak tendencies, and what to exploit. In fact I would put that part of Coach Stigall and staff up against any in the state. However his weak point is in Game adjustments. "real time coaching". So for you to somehow suggest that BW or WC prepares better in my opinion is wrong but still completely in line of debating. But suggesting that the two all black teams lost because the two all white team have smarter players is insulting, inaccurate and has nothing to do with basketball. You said nothing about high basketball IQ you said they were smarter. It is very clear what you were implying and I'm not one to just to overlook such hate fill dialog.

Remember preperation means nothing without execution. And don't futher insult me by giving me ultimatums between are they less prepared or more stupid. When I never had any quarl about you saying one team prepared better. That's not what you said or implied you said they were smarter and if you can't see the difference perhaps your not as smart as you think. Just use the term high basketball IQ it sounds less uppity.

Hey by the way Daniel Norl has a 3.8 or 3.9 GPA not sure about the rest of Kenwood players so at least your team will play one smart player on monday. But High basketball IQ will be accompanied by The Norl brothers and all the Kenwood seniors.

You can go back to routing for Paula Deens comeback now.
