  1. Here are the facts-Alcoa won the game 21-14.  Please quit your whinning about the refs.  If you were that good you would have beaten Catholic by more than 7 points.  The fact is and the sad reality that the Alcoa fans need to face and the bigger story is  Catholic played maybe their worst offensive game of the season and Alcoa only won by 7 points.  We were right there with you, we had our fair share of bad calls too.  That is football.  IF I was Alcoa you can say you beat us all over the field but you really didn't-only a 7 point game.  That is the bigger story!  Catholic only lost by 7 and if we played you again this year we would win! Alcoa is a good team and they won on Friday.  Too bad yall dont have the guts to move up and play 4A.  But, I guess as our game showed Alcoa-you would have to play 4 quarters each week.

So, Alcoa just stay in 3A so you only have to play your starters for the first half of the game each week.  But please stop whinning about the refs and all the points you could have scored, because the FACT is you did not and you only beat Catholic by 7.  How bout them Irish!!!

your on Alcoa moving up. When is Catholic going to go private like they should be. No way all those football boys can afford $7500+ a year. That's $30,000 for 4 years give me a break it will catch up sooner or later. If everybody can afford that kind of money they can afford to drive to Chattanooga and Nashville for games.
  2. Whoa, call me an ambulance my heart just stopped because Elizabethton is actually ranked!!! lol No love from the polls all season.

I totally understand your feelings the Green Devils are #4 in the state and #5 in the Johnson City Press behind two teams who follow them in the state rankings and a team they beat 5 touchdowns in a scrimmage.
  3. Northeast 4A District possibility...

    Cherokee

    Volunteer

    Sullivan Central

    Sullivan East

    Sullivan South

    Greeneville

Maybe Elizabethton if they play up. I don't know why they wouldn't. Grainger Co. Is another possibility.

Greeneville finally gets out of the BRAC!

Yes they leave one weak conference for another except for South. Word is South will also be down the next few years after this years squad.

THESE ARE THE TOP 5 SEEDS RIGHT NOW IN QUAD 1  WHERE DO YOU SEE CATH A 4 SEED , THERE RECORD IS TOO GOOD AND SOUTH OR BETSY CAN NOT PASS FULTON OR CATH - THE DEVILS COULD GET A 3 SPOT ALOT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BUT I SEE THEM FALLING IN AT A 4 SEED - BETSY HAS A BETTER RECORD IN THE WIN LOSS VS THE PEOPLE THEY PLAY!

the only way Catholic will be higher is if they beat Alcoa. Conference champs are seeded first. That would be Fulton, South/Betsy winner and Greeneville.
  5. Northcarolina, you are such a loudmouth..... Betsy played Dobbins Bennett in scrimmage this year and held their own. Ask the coaches if they think Elizabethton would be a challenge! That was without Thomas playing. So get off your city high horse and don't worry about us little hillbillies! As for a Greeneville is concerned, they got theirs coming! Just wait and see!

Greeneville will be more than glad to oblige you and will be waiting as well. Just ask TN High about us. Let's put it this way it was 35-0 when both 1st teams quit playing.
  6. David Price never got out of the district or made the region. He turned out ok....

yes he did was their two from his team that made it. If you truly have two All State players on your team you definately should get out do district in A or AA for sure and my opinion AAA
  7. Hope they got some quickness ..some fast teams run right buy those big guys ... who they got RB this year ?? Or will they be a passing team ??

they return 2 of the top 3 that finished the year at RB. They are going to have a big H-Back like they did the years they won it and run it a lot more. They have had a good year in the weight room over 20 kids squatting 400+ and 32 who are over 350. They have some very good speed on defense but not nearly as quick as you guys. Fulton has a great program and they are well coached it's been a great rivalry the last 4 years and hopefully we can once again meet. I also think Catholic and Sullivan South will be excellent. Betsy has a great back and he can keep them in the game with anybody.
  8. Very Good Doc - agree with almost all that you posted ... being a Fulton Fan .. have a little different opinion .. I think defensively Falcons will be good and may be even better than last year. I watched Fulton play alot of games last year ..on defense they played 11 new 2nd team players on defense in the 1st Qtr and 1st half  of alot of games .. they may be better at LB and they have a couple DB's to replace what they lost .. they play 3-4 and return 2 of the 3 front guys and have some good prospects to play that other DE .. now OL is where they really took a hit .. what they can accomplish there may be the key to whole season ... offensively wont have the big hitters like last year although they have some kids who are close to being what they had last year ... pretty close ... alot of play makers on offense .. getting the ball to the right guys from the new QB will be key .. new QB is a heady kid ..not a running threat but if he can just manage the offense then they have the guys at WR and RB to be effective .. will have to have more consistent drives this year.

ON Sullivan South - they are very impressive and when Rollins went out with injury in 1st Qtr last year it took alot out of Falcons .. and it took some big plays from Fultons WR to get them past them. So they will be a team to contend with for sure.

Catholic will be very good IMO ... they will be well coached and have alot of very good players .. some kids from other areas that are very good and have alot returning.

Greeneville while big was not very physical ... Fulton pushed them around pretty easy . so will have to see if those guys get any more physical before I think they will contend ..they will be good and then will see what they have come playoffs .. but I would say that they will be good again. They lost some good players like the Falcons .. but Fulton handled them pretty easy even without one of their big play guys in Rollins- Davis .

IMO opinion  .. this will be a battle this year .. no team stands head and shoulders above the other ..

TadVols I agree you guys pushed the devils around the last two years. It's very similar to when the Devils pushed your bunch around the previous two years before that. Your up front people were young while the Devils were a upper classman team that has flipped these last two years. Your bunch was the upper classman while the Devils were starting sophomores and 1 Junior on the line.
  9. It's a 4 horse race in East Tennessee. Fulton,Catholic, South and Greeneville. Betsy is good but not as strong as the other four. Talking with friends from each school here is what is behind said.

Fulton- Excellent skill people, once again very quick on both sides of ball, worried about OL and DL, no way as good as last year, very well coached

Catholic- have some excellent skill people, very disciplined and well coached. Have two very tough early games.

South- awesome QB and their skill people are very good, worried about OL and DL not very physical, can't have injuries, other than Betsy very weak schedule.

Greeneville- biggest OL in history of school, return 8 people who started at various times on defense, well coached and very physical. Big worry at QB and who will step up at RB

  10. I think this year is wide open. I am a Greeneville fan but not one of those who thinks we can beat the Dallas Cowboys every year. Here is my breakdown of the East Quad only as it definitely is loaded. This is taken from fans of each school who I know personally.

South- awesome QB, have all their skill people back on offense, they have a strong secondary, look to be hurting on offensive line lost a lot of starters, small on defensive line.

Elizabethton- Thomas kid best RB in East TN, experience at QB, Well coached, offensive line is big question mark, not real quick on defense.

Fulton- Once again will be very good at skill positions, big trouble at offensive line, a lot of speed on defense, question mark at QB

Greeneville- big time physical this year, offensive line is Hugh will average 270, defense should be real good returning 9 of 13 players who started for them at different times last year. Big question at QB, lost two outstanding WR, who will be the go to RB

Catholic- a lot of talent, will be strong at skill positions, have some work to do with OL and DL, well coached.

Once agIn the best Quad in the State in my opinion. I hope everybody's team has a safe and great summer.

  11. Upper it's funny that you will not respond to my posts. You cannot explain why Giles county Milan Huntington are closed zone schools and win. Also you cant show me a private school that is dominating to need a split but maybe since you want a split you also don't want to intelligently discuss with facts about sports with a private fan. Also Giles ex coach is the one that got caught recruiting how about that there is some of your own medicine. One thing I do agree with you on is we have to many football classes but you probably want that to get away from Alcoa. Also as for the 7 players from different counties in goodpasture volleyball I would like to see facts of that. Anyone can say all kind of hear say. Also a story for you sweet water tennessee is a school that is own the road from maryville. When lipscomb played sweet water in 2002 the star player for sweet water was the state title MVP for maryville the year before. Hmmm isn't that interesting. In the end in states there are dominant football programs for whatever reason. A few schools will always rule thus far trousdale, Alcoa, maryville, Milan, Giles county , red boiling springs, whitehaven, ba, mus, ensworth in their own league that doesn't affect public schools and other privates such as lipscomb CPA over the last 10 years have been in highly successful. Look at any state and the same schools are always in the running. Another thing I find interesting in your statements is you want all, public schools to be open enrollment. I'm never a fan of becoming what you hate but wouldn't that force public schools to recruit or try to retain players. Can you imagine a kid playing football at 4 different high schools in four year and win three state titles. That is a reality with open zone heck now public kids move into an apartment and keep their house Open zone would force publics to recruit because there is no guarantee of any is staying be careful what you wish for. If they did split I guess we would have to listen to how the more rural schools should have their own league and the city schools should have their own that is the next unlevel playing field.

It was on the roster at the state volleyball championships in the program.
  12. I see we're Catholic had 23 seniors on their team. Did most of them not play that's a lot of returning starters to have that many seniors. I also agree Fulton will be good but noway they stay like they have losing what they lost. South will be very good and bring a lot back. Elizabethton could be a force if they can start throwing the ball some their RB is fantastic. My Greene Devils will be ok we don't have much.lol
