Hey you Cosby fans are unlike any other that I have seen on coacht. You trash your team with tongue firmly in cheek. Is that an East Tennessee defense mechanism or what? May have something to do with that thrashing the Easterners took at the hands of the Westerners last year. You say your teams are terrible so that when you lose you can say I told you so, and if you luck up and win you can say "Surely you guys didn't take me seriously about not being any good." Why don't you me people MAN UP and tell us what you really feel about your team. Or is that asking the impossible?

I dont expect Cocke County to win; but I wouldnt really expect a blowout either.

 

When you have good guard play; you can always win a basketball game. Sure height is nice, but Bruce Pearl is proving it can be very easy to win with a 4 guard lineup.

 

There's also ways to neutralize height when it comes to gameplans; that too Pearl has done.

 

CCHS has drawn the Devils at the right time, no one in bottom 5 of the IMAC is playing better ball than Cocke County.

Bruce Pearl isn't coaching CCHS and Lofton,Watson and Wingate aren't playing for them ither. A four guard lineup is great when you have the talent to play with it , collge ball is guard dominated highschool ball depends more on big men. CCHS couldn't match the Devils on any aspect of the game. CCHS is improving yes, but they are no where near winning or competing for the IMAC. Its great to be positive about your team, but please be reasonable no one but 3 CCHS fans even thought the game would be close. Even if the Carmichael kid would have played what could he have done to make it much closer? He's quick as a cat and can dribble but being able to dribble doesn't make you a ball handler he still has 7 or 8 turnovers per game , doesn't control the team the way a senior should, and he doesn't shoot all that well. Yes they are improving but saying this should have been a close game is just boardering stupidity.

Like you have ever won anything , you type to well to have ever played a sport. If you want to talk glory days of great seasons at cosby I believe we have been to the Boro lets see a-lot if were not there we make it to substate uhhh every year . Now tell me about all the championships you or your team has won or have you ever been close .

I've got my State Championship ring in football. Also I was a decent player at Carson Newman. Unlike at Cosby an athlete can go to college and be educated, thanks for bringing that up! There is more to life than sports and some things are more important than winning.

Thats the point PTS isn't for anyone! He is stating the facts. Why is it if you're not for Cosby you"re against them? I'll admit that they are a good team but i don't feel i need to bow down to their players or fans like you people expect. PTS hasn't shown any bias in any post i have ever seen him in , they have all been good positive post even replys to some of my "smart @$$" post have been positive and informative. Win the state Cosby and be humble about it and I would support your team for life for that. Gracious in defeat humble in victory.

They only have one loss this season up in East Tn. They aren't just winning games they are blowing teams out! Are they better than Middleton, Temple , Grace and some of the others?

As a general rule that is true, but just because you are a AAA school doesn't mean that the competition is always better in AAA. Just from mere statistics of AAA schools having more athletics to choose from, should make them a stronger team than A schools, but once again not always.

 

As for A teams not as competitive, A teams playing A teams are just as competiitive as AA or AAA. All teams want to win and there are good teams and bad teams in all classifications. A good A team playing antoher good A team is just as competitive as AA or AAA.

 

As for coaching, I think that most coaches want to win reguardless of the size of the school. I would rather coach a superior A team as a poor/average AA or AAA team.

 

So all answers are not AAA!!! DUH

SO....if the classes of the schools don't make a difference thats like saying Cosby could compete with the "other" #1's in the state huh? Cosby would not be in the top 20 in AAA!! Have some common sense get out and watch some other basketball other than in east Tn. Cosby should finish with 1 loss until they reach the state because as far as everyone else in the state is concerned there is no basketball played on this side of the state. An east Tn. team winning in the BORO is an anomally. Sure its "good" basketball for around here but come on. Also if that is true that the comp is the same in AAA then don't brag about being a single A team beating a AAA team.

Tennis and Golf, real athletic sports bud! I play golf, you dont have to be an athlete you have to have superior hand-eye cordination, kinda like baseball.

First of all i'm not your bud. Second of of all i'm sure you use that hand eye cordination real well changing channels on your TV . Tennis is OK but golf is a game not a sport much like playing monopoly at home if golfers are athletes then so are bowlers they are all fat with man boobs. Basketball and football are the athletes sports.

People act like Cosby and Cocke Co are two diff parts of the world.We grew up together and some pick Cosby and some pick Cocke co.Its just that all the Good players pick Cosby or the Ones that Didnt know the right people and didnt get to play down there.I agree its a great school to be in the band or play soccer or some thing of that nature.Put it this way.why go to Cocke Co and lose when You can come to cosby and WIN.20 years down the road people remember a winner not a loser,if they are that good and want a HUGE scholorship go to Oak Hill or some where.But to be part of something special Come to Cosby its a great experience,trust me.

20 years down the road only people from Cosby will remember the winning seasons because you guys have never won anything else. Getting to play against both teams in the past i can easily say that Cocke County had better players neither team ever beat us and yes it was THE BEARS. I bet even people from newport can remember Sevier County's State Championship season in football and Girls basketball. All this Calleb guy is saying is stop living in the past just because cosby has had a couple of good teams in the past doesn't mean that it will always be that way. Next year Cocke County will be the better team they have too many young guys getting meaningful playing time and not in trash time. cosby is losing one of their best ever players in Blakley and losing key role players and also their leading scorer. Tell me that you #30 is as good as #20 from the CCHS and none of your J.V. players coming up will be able to handle the size of the Kelley kid. Plus you lost the best coach you ever had in Flatford please tell me who was better than him. And the blonde bomber ballhog that is a junior you guys will be better off without him next year Cosby by 15-20 this year next year CCHS by 20-25. if you wont to talk about matchups. cocke county beat gp by 20. cosby won by 9. who cocke county played that cosby played doesnt mean a thing. I think looking at each player on both teams that Cocke County matches up better. I have played with todd jenkins before and all he has is a jump shot. He likes to shoot just a little too much. Cosby depends on the three too much. yeah they have got good shooters but when you put defense on them it is a different story. they wouldnt know anything about defense. they have seen it or played it.

I give you credit for the only smart thing you said on your post. Timmy is a star, and deserves more credit than he gets. But as far as Cosby being over rated, they are the real deal. Yes, they may be playing some weak teams right now, but they will have plenty to brag about to you and others when it matters most, MARCH, when they are in Murfreesboro and you are at home scratching your head wondering when baseball practice starts.

First of all I don't play baseball I'm an athlete, athletes don't play baseball they play real sports. And let me give you credit for something smart you said. Cosby will be at the boro it appears, only see one more game they might lose on their schedule. It really doesn't matter they can't beat Middleton, they can't beat Grace , they can't beat Temple. Lets face it people we are in east tennessee, when a team other than Science Hill wins at the boro that is from this half of the state its an anomaly. Its simple demographics and they have better players on that side of the state. No one will remember who lost in the first round 6 months from now so what does it matter. I guess 10 years after graduation you can relive the glory days of the 30-2 season when we played 20 teams with losing records. But.....congrats on that impressive record it just looks good on paper to bad it won't translate into some hardware (i.e. a trophy from the boro).

You guys have 1 player (Blakley) and 3 guys that are really good at playing H.O.R.S.E. You have played no one! Temple , Middleton , or any other team that isn't in east Tn. is a better bet at winning state than Cosby. You guys should make it to the state by default , but you won't win it I'll bet the farm on that. No teams in the Region or District should compete with Cosby but forget a title.

Never said Kelvin was slow.. I've seen all these kids play almost every game they've played, and I've played plenty of pickup games with all of them. They all can play i was just saying the quote saying he's the best hands down is going a little far. when you're winning by 30 you can have your 3 best players on the bench, anyone with a hot hand can get a few points against a team you have twice the tallent of, and its easy for anyone to look like they are shutting down someone when the guy he's guarding can't play. He's a good player who is going to improve and i hope he has many 30 point games this year...... but saying the best shooter hands down because of one hot game is saying too much. Thats just taking away from the other proven players who have worked hard also.

Does it really matter?????......... none of these guys can play! They are just gonna lose in the District to Rockwood again! Rockwood owns Cosby! If they do make it to state they'll just get thumped by a west Tn. team. what makes this different from any other year, other than they lost the best coach they've had in 15 or more years. No player from Cosby has ever really stood out as a great shooter... the team has always just threw up about 50 attempts per night thats their offense. any decent shooter can hot.

I would have to agree with that statement.  I don't think anyone from CC has room to talk about Cosby and our basketball tradition.  As far as the reasons kids leaving your school to come and play at ours is simple.  Their parents don't have enough political pull to get them P/T for the AAA Powerhouse you guys have managed to build the last few years.  Oh wait I had a football moment.... Darn wrong sport again.  How about baseball.... No you ran off your Legendary coach... Oh yeah it's tennis your good at!!!! With a teacher/coach from COSBY and one of your best players is from COSBY CORY SMITH!!!!  Let's get back to Basketball. How many points did you lose to Mo East this year if I remember correctly 17, 12, 13 and we took them to the limit twice. Once in overtime..  That is just an example of our play. Without KB you guys wouldn't average 20 points a game.  He scores over 80% of your points.  When you gave everyone the run down of the greats that have been at Cosby the past few years you forgot some of the best players from all over the county.  Josh Webb,Matthew Raines, Kevin Frisbee, Chad Styles, Seth Rodgers, Lacy Gates, Andrew Woody, Josh Mac, Josh Williams, Blake Shults, Tyler Williams, Chris Douglas, Blake Pack, Dusty Williams, Eric Baxter, Chad Greene, Chris Gregg, Manney Moore, Josh Cutshaw, the lists go on and on I could name you names all day.  Until You and your school are BIG enough to come calling on us to play don't down our past or our players.  Our coaches aren't afraid of playing anyone at anyplace.  So go back to the tennis courts with one of our students and one of our teachers.  Thank you.
