Depends on which way you are arriving, if you are coming south from Columbia, 31 south Barbecue in Lynville has good chicken as well as barbecue. If you are coming in on hwy 64, the rusty spur steakhouse in Pulaski has excellent food.  There is also the Hickory house in Pulaski which is a good choice. Hope that helps, if you try the Rusty spur get there early because they will be full.

nice gym with plenty of seating. Team plays hard, second summertown game Richland led by 1 at the half then let the game get away in the second half. Havent seen Huntington but heard nothing but good things, hopefully we can make it a ballgame.

Think it will come down to Richland and Hampshire, with Richland being the favorite.  Not sure about Culleoka or Santa Fe, according to scores on here, both have had some decent wins and really bad losses. We will know for sure in a few weeks.

This district has become very soft.  All teams except Huntland and Moore County playing 2-3 zones.  Kids do not get any better playing zones.  Look at the teams that make it to the state tournament and see how many zone defenses you see.  May see a match up zone with man principles.  Grace may win the region this year which tells you where this district is headed.

It's not just this district,  seeing more and more teams stuck in a 2-3 zone. N

Top 4 in 9a are Mcewen, Houston County, Jo Byrns, and East Robertson.  They only have 4 teams in that district. 

Its obvious this a hot topic with opinions on both sides, very rarely do officials cost a team a game. Th great thing about basketball as well as other sports is it teaches players as well as coaches how to handle adversity. Some nights the calls go your way and some nights they dont. Most of the good teams battle through the adversity when the calls dont go there way. Without question there are some officials that are not very good, but there are also several good ones out there as well. If you watch any college or pro games you can say the same thing. The UT Vandy game on Wednesday was a perfect example. Some say the refs cost Vandy the game with flagrant foul call late, but what about all the missed free throws and turnovers late in the game. There is always going to be heated discussion on this topic,  just my 2 cents worth. 

Perry County/Summertown should be a fun game to watch. The Brooks girl from Perry County is fun to watch, has a motor that doesn't stop. Not sure you can guard her 1 on 1. Summertown has shooters all over the floor which makes them tough to guard as well. The 2 eighth graders they are playing are really good players. Not sure who will win but I look forward to watching.

We're dealing with teenagers here so ANYTHING could happen at anytime ! LOL. Come to think of it, the boys are the same way. Ya just don't know from one game to another or one quarter to another ?

Based on the scores I've seen out of 12a Collinwood is playing really well. Perry County is not as strong as in years past. Loretto and Summertown are both very good.

No doubt all the 12a teams will be a tough out, don't think they will sweep the first round. Will depend on the match ups.

Are the games still on for tonight

Since I'm two for two, time for the next round.

 

Loretto vs Frank Hughes

 

Loretto won both regular season games, first by seven and the next by eleven. Loretto has the better post play in this one. Both teams have good speed. Edge goes to Loretto in shooting. I don't think Frank Hughes can put up enough points to win in which should be a low scoring game based on the other two games. Frank Hughes will get after them on defense, so as long as Loretto can handle the pressure, they will be fine. Frank Hughes has come come a long way in the last three years, starting with the other Morris and continuing with this Morris, but not further enough. (Keep in mind the talent in the district is not what it used to be). Loretto wins this one by 12.

 

 

Summertown vs Perry County

 

Perry County won both season games by large margins. Perry County has the experience. Summertown's youth will show in this one. Edge goes to Perry County in shooting. Summertown struggles to score. Perry County wins this one by 17.

 

Back to my original post and the question: When, if ever, was the last time Wayne County and Collinwood both did not make it out of the district? My guess would be that this has never happened. Would be interesting to know if someone can find out.

The brackets on coacht go back to 2006 so it would have to before then, because one or the other made the region up until then.
