  1. Wartburg has played in the championship every year aside from 2010 because the teams show up to play at tournament time. It has nothing to do with "home court advantage". This isn't the SEC or "Large districts". Coalfield, Oakdale, Wartburg, Oliver Springs, and Sunbright are all within 30 minutes of Wartburg High schol. I attended Wartburg, even though Coalfield and Oliver Springs were time wise closer to my house, but due to the option Kids had coming from Petros I could choose. Wartburg Holds the tournament because as the actually name of the school states it is the "Central" school of the district. It is what is best for the schools in the district, and if you think more Wartburg people are going to show up for the Championship game than Oliver Springs or Coalfield, then you haven't attended many championships. Each school travels well to Wartburg for both boys and girls. Anderson County and Roane State are both significantly longer drives for every single school besides maybe Jellico to Anderson County. The reason the District 4A tournament is packed is because Morgan County people love basketball, it's a strong passion... Move the tournament elsewhere, it'll look a lot like summer camps.

  2. i hope all the boys stay helthy to. i dont wish ill will on the kids just call it the way i see it. sunbright is best team. what i was told was we beat a good double a team at there house and played are subs most of 4 quarter. we play a playoff team this week at there house. we are no 1 offense and no 1 defense in district and county.

    1. sunbright

ha... A good double A team. I'd hate to see the bad ones. No disrespect to North Greene, but they haven't won a game in like three years. Plus, again no disrespect to Whitwell, but they haven't made the playoffs since 2005. Not exactly a "playoff" team. Your right though, 6 points... Not bad against a team that hasn't scored two touchdowns since they did it on you last year.. But hey the defense played alot better than your last game when they gave up 65.

  3. Monterey plays in probably the toughest 2a region in the east with Friendship, Trousdale county. Monterey plays tough competition ever year. Sunbright's four out of district games opponents went a combined 12-27 last year and none of those teams qualified for the playoffs. Wartburg's went 25-23 with three teams making the playoffs and one team advancing to the Quarterfinals, and one to the Semifinals. You tell me who's playing to get better. No disrespect to Sunbright, they have some very talented athletes, but They haven't beaten Coalfield or Wartburg since their perfect season in 2000. They will have to beat both to crown themselves the best team in Morgan county.

  4. Wartburg won tonight, meaning footballer2008 your prediction was wrong. And no disrespect to Whitwell, North Greene, Red Boiling Springs, or Oakdale, but if sunbright doesn't make the playoffs you might as well hang your cleats up. If you stacked the cards anymore in your favor it wouldn't even be fair. Yeah, Sunbright could very well win 7 or 8 games, but the competition is weak and it will show late in the season. You have to play good teams to get better.

  5. With Wartburg's win tonight over Greenback, Terry Coker achieves his 100th win as a head coach. Great accomplishment coach. And All at Wartburg /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  6. No way guys. I'm fine. Coach asked me if I thought I could pitch. I told him i'd have to warm up and id let him know. I warmed up felt fine and pitched. I took myself out when pain started setting in. Don't bash the coach Bash me if anyone because I was the one that told him I wanted to pitch. It was the last game of the year, and I dont play summer ball, so my mindset was I know I can pitch and i'll have 8 monthes rest when all of this is over. It didnt work out how i wanted, but it was my desicion not the coach's.

  7. Coalfield lose everything HAHA.. Not quite my friend, Brandon Davis, Newberry, Alley, Hill, Warwick, not to mention players that don't make the papers. If yoy think Coalfield is losin everything you need to look again. And Oneida got Alex and Kyle? Where they from and when did they get to oneida? Oz on the other hand does lose 8 starters I think, but Come on it's Oz you don't get respect like Oz has by havin a good year then A bad. They always Reload and will always be a contender. Oneida does have a shot at the District but so does everyone else. Can't forget Sunbright either. Hawn, Young, Weaver, they return alot of good players. and Wartburg they lose Ray Jenkins the rest of the starters come back. The District is loaded with young players, but the only thing that really matters is right here right now. Best of luck all district teams.

  8. Nope Shawn Langley pitched for Wartburg and came up with a huge bunt that put the game away. Alot of people are overlooked on Wartburg's team because Alot of hype on me. I honestly think i'm the second or third best pitcher on the team. Gumby has a really strong curve, and can bring it if he has to.

As for Oakdale they threw Cody. He did a great job we just all the sudden started puttin the ball in play and it came out our way. As for any Oakdale fans Shawn is fine he plans on playing tommorrow.

  9. Ryan hawn of sunbright has 36 K's in 4 starts (not sure on the exact innings but it is somewhere between 20 and 25) he is 4-0 and has an ERA of .038.

He in now 4-1 with an ERA a lil higher, but he is still the best pitcher i know.
