  1. Horrible call but classy kids from Cleveland the fact that they waited for the other team to stop celebrating with other student to shake their hands after the game, knowing that they had heavy hearts and got robbed. You may have losses that game but you gained a random fan. Classy program well done Coach.

Take a look again. The Stone starters are the first ones in line. This thread needs to get off penalizing Stone kids and hammer the officials on both sides.

  2. Passive can be entertaining (sometimes), but do not try to have a coherent conversation with him.

He does have some good inside info on Ooltewah and East Hamilton, but to answer your question, he generally doesn't have a clue on what he is talking about... LOL

Whew, thanks for the heads up. I will let it go.

  3. In East Tennessee...not Middle Tennessee....the talent and coaching is just better there...looking back at your record...seems like 7aaa has been the road block for you guys....but you are at home and if the road team lets the refs decide it .....they will...and you know it :thumb:

Wait. What? 7aaa has been the road block for who? Do you even have a clue about high school basketball in TN? This is Stone Memorial's 1st year in AAA and I think we played siegel 4 years ago. We have been to the state tournament 2 out of the last 3 years in AA coming out of District 4. I like getting on here and reading or talking it up a little, but I usually know what I am doing. I don't think you have a clue and it really shows. You may need to wait on football season.

  4. you are just beginning to play some real talent sir....if you can't handle the press whether you are home or away...it's over....as far as ooltewah...I was surprised it was that close for what I heard about your team....but you can't beat 10 with 5 and no inside presence...and Owls beat WV twice and split with Cleveland...get my drift....

No, I really don't get your drift. This 10 vs 5 thing you keep bringing up is referring to siegel I think. We don't play them Monday. As far as an inside game, Does having a couple of 6'5 guys that can jump completely out of the gym count? What does "real talent" mean? Does Oak Ridge, Fulton, Union City, Lighthouse Christian,Austin-East, Maryville not have any talent? I'm thinking Stone is on this Chattanooga thread because we've played and beaten their best over the last couple of years. Put 98 on Brainerd last year. Tyner, McCallie, Ooltewah, Cleveland, Walker Valley, probably doubted us too but that's ok. I hope Blackmon does play a lot of their bench Monday night. Usually gets teams in trouble this late in the year. I like our chances with our 5 against anybody else's 10.

  5.         IT'S OVER FOR EAST TENNESSEE....IF YOU MAN UP ON BOTH STONE AND WALKER WITH DEPTH... AND I MEAN 10 ON 10... NOT 5 ON 10....YOU GOT A SHOT....

What does that mean? Is it over or have you got a shot? Stone has played in the sectional 3 out of 4 years and was a last second shot away last year. So it's safe to say that Monday night's game should be fun to watch. Those boys won't be shellshocked just because an athletic team rolls into town. Ooltewah saw that themselves. 44-5 at home the last 4 years stands out if you ask me and that's with usually one of the tougher schedules every year.

  6. Regardless, it was clear these refs were not working together during this game. That call was not handled properly, thus the confusion. But it was a trip or a bump which the other 2 officials were calling all night. This ref hasn't blown his whistle all night and decides to get in on the action and absolutely froze. The official he ran to ask for help obviously saw something and bailed him out and that is what happened. If I would have been Cleveland's coach I would have gotten tossed and it would have a 6 pt loss instead of 2. It was a hard fought game.

  7. I think I'm pretty unbiased other than Stone being from Cumberland County.  I saw it too, and the player from Cleveland obviously tripped the Stone player.  The Cleveland coach was in the exact opposite corner from where the foul occurred, and the radio announcers were on the other side as well.

The call seemed obvious to me, and I never saw an official call a travel.  The Cleveland coach was way out of line laying prone on the floor after the call.

You are correct. There was never a signal for a travel violation. The official that blew the whistle met with the one behind the play and got it right. That's what got everyone in an uproar. They obviously both saw the foul. Tough game because the refs were struggling I will admit.

  8. Sorry Quack. I just had a brain fart. I know that Stone Mountain is in Georgia. My bad.

It's ok. We get it all the time, not just you. We beat maryville hs twice this year at their place and their local paper called us the same thing. When Jones was at Alcoa and was on tv every week, he did the same thing. It's a running joke, but every now and then it hits a nerve.

  9. Congrats to all 3 Bradley County teams from District 5 AAA for winning in opening round of the Region 3AAA tournament. Walker Valley & Cleveland won at home & last year's Region 3AAA Tournament Champ Bradley Bears went up to Cookeville and beat Cookeville on their floor for the second time this season. Unfortunately, #4 seed Ooltewah wasn't able to beat Dist. 6's #1 seed, Stone Mountain, so they are done for the year.

Good Grief people. We are STONE MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL. We are from Crossville, TN. We have been to the state tournament 2 out of the last 3 years. I thought Tony Jones was the only one that couldn't get it right.

  10. If u take 65% of your teams shots u better score 65% of their points he scored 41 vs Db but took 32 shots and had 17 ft attempts. He can shoot with someone in his face and is quick with the ball if he gets on a roll watch out, but the rest of the teAm would be better served if he didn't play the point, cause it's going up when he crosses half court. Refs in this area bale him out in the middle too much, if you initiate contact and throw the ball at the hoop u will not get the call at the next level. Two more years of HS basketball this kids looking at 2500 points.

You just described a heck of a player. Just think of what 2 more years of strength and maturity will add besides the 2500 pts. He won't have to worry about getting baled out by the refs. He's got a gear that east tn hasn't seen in awhile.

  11. I like that the Lawsons are skilled and can handle the ball but they are awful careless with it. Need much to be better decision makers. Or they need a top notch point guard on the team so they don't have to handle so much.

Yeah I love their potential but they shot it every time they touched it. Like the announcer said, you could double team the one with ball and they would struggle. Don't look to pass it at all. But, they are D-1.

  12. You can call it what u want but any man that gives his time to teach kids the game free of charge for three months takes expensive trips out of town away from his on family to help keep kids engaged in something positive is far from a joke!!! It's not just about your kid or the High School team your kid plays on, but being a positive leader for all kids bringing them from all areas of Chattanooga and surrounding areas to become one.

I don't know who you are or if you are even from Chattanooga, but obviously you have been around this game awhile and know what's going on. I feel the same way.

  13. As I read many of these post it seems as if the concern is who is D1 and who isn't. Fact is there are very few D1 players in the Chattanooga area but we have a lot of players that can obtain a scholarship on D2 NAIA JUCO levels. It also doesn't start in the high school as far as competition level goes. There are TOO many watered down middle school Coaches and programs in the area and that's where AAU becomes a major plus in building our high school programs. For 1 some middle school teams are done before Christmas and if they don't play AAU then they don't see the court til the following October. That is not enough time for development and that's the Major problem in the Chattanooga Area.

Out of the 36 or so posts on this thread, you sir, are by far the smartest guy in Chattanooga. You just summed up the whole state.

  14. They are solid for teams out of Chattanooga, but out side of Chattanooga in the big tounaments they struggle, Except there 17 U team they was pretty good, some of there younger group won some small mom and pop tournament but beside that they struggle.

Just be thankful you got guys that are taking them to big tournaments. Any AAU coach worth anything should be developing these kids to get exposure and make their high school teams better. I guarantee you the kids that play for the Elite are the best players on their high school team. And if those guys are working with younger kids, you will see Chattanooga ball start to compete at the state level. Soon.

  15. this is a huge game really. it is for first place in the district at this early stage. i think it will be a great game. yaul may blow us out but i think it will be close. if stone comes in it thinking they will kill us white co. will win caus i know the boys are ready for this game. hey tcb or quack, what's the chances of stone overlooking us? i figured not much. i think they know how good we are.

I think winning 6 or 7 in a row was a big reason for losing to Alcoa sat. Winning like that gets kids complacent some and after seeing them come out of the locker room I wouldn't want to roll into Stone Memorial this friday night. The Alcoa game didn't mean a thing but I am sure the kids know what's up vs Sparta. It will be fun to watch win or lose.
