  1. I was at the greeneville - Madison game. Greeneville was just unlucky. They had two or three hit the crossbar. Madison had one real opportunity and they put in it in. Keeper had no chance.

I hate to hear that. We never seem to get any luck at the State Tournament. Thanks for the report. The semifinal game will be tough for Madison, but we'll see how it all plays out.

  2. Thats an amazing achievement for him, where you at the game and if so do you know what Wamba did to win the state championship

No, I was not at the game, and I don't have details yet of Wamba's goal. I heard Greeneville had solid possession, but I guess they just couldn't put it in the back of the net (which hasn't been a big issue this year with 5 goals/gm average).

If anyone knows, did they scout and heavily mark Hays, and do you believe the 45th minute offside call that denied a goal was correct?

  3. Tough loss indeed. The 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons all ended in a one goal loss to Kingsbury in the Quarterfinals with 2013 being a PK shootout loss.

There's a young group coming up, but Greeneville loses their (likely three time) All-State Forward Hays Culbreth who had 111 career goals in his four years.

  4. actually they made it to the region semis thank you very much. And they're a PUBLIC school with a lot more character than these stuck- up rich kids who should be playing other private schools in a separate division

I'll happily compete against any public or private school in AA. Granted, it stinks that private schools can recruit and public schools are stuck with whoever is in their district. However, just because a school is public or private says nothing about the character of the coaches, parents, or players.

  5. I know this isn't what they want to hear, but congrats to CPA on a great season and being one of the final four teams left in the state. Kingsbury is a talented, athletic team and will go to the finals for the third straight year.

I am a senior on the Greeneville squad, and we have lost 2-1 twice, and then this year we lost the third time on PKs after multiple OT periods stuck at 1-1. I watched this game online, and I must say the CPA announcer was a class act and did an excellent job.

Again, congrats to CPA on a great season, and congrats to Kingsbury for a third straight final.

  6.

Imagine its rough, at least Greeneville made it to the elite 8 (3 straight times)

Yeah, but being among the elite is not enough. Friday at 4:30 was expectation and the goal for this excellent group of seniors. This is the year that the talent was all there to go all the way. The luck just didn't go in our favor. Congrats to Kingsbury. They are truely quality squad, and their history of state tournaments (2nd past two years, semifinals before that) shows how good they are. Best of luck to everyone left.

  7. Hey everyone,

I'm starting this thread for results and reports from the A/AA Quarterfinals in Murfreesboro. Score updates are welcome, and match reports would be excellent as we all know that score does not always reflect the way the game was played by both sides.

    Let the games begin!

    2013 A/AA Quarterfinal Matchups (Tuesday, May 22nd)

White House v Notre Dame - 4:30pm on Field #3

Christian Academy of Knoxville v Trinity Christian - 7:00pm on Field #3

    Kingsbury v Greeneville - 5:00pm on Field #5

East Hamilton v Christ Presbyterian - 7:30pm on Field #5

    Semifinal Outlook (Wednesday, May 23rd)

Winner of WH & ND v winner of CAK & TC - 5:00pm on Field #5

    Winner of Kingsbury & G'ville v winner of EH & CPA - 7:30pm on Field #5

Winners of each advance to the final at 4:30 on Friday in the stadium.

  8. Greeneville over Kingsbury (2-1) Don't know much about these teams but I am moving to the Johnson City area so Ill pull for Greeneville!

Both teams will have good team speed. They both play difficult non-conference schedules (Kingsbury plays a more difficult schedule than G'ville), but don't let Kingbury's 9-11 record deceive anyone (or G'ville's 13-3-4 record).

Greeneville: 1.1 goals allowed per game, 4.6 scored per game, 16th toughest schedule, Region 1AA Champion

Kingsbury: 1.45 goals allowed per game, 1.55 scored per game, 3rd toughest schedule, Region 8AA Champion

  9. Quarterfinals

Disclaimer: Soccer, as with any sport, is prone to some unexpected outcomes. I have not seen most of these teams play, but this is my best guess.

White House v Notre Dame- White House wins

White House looks good on paper this year with only a couple losses to quality teams (Christian Brothers and CPA). Notre Dame will be good, but I'm giving the nod to White House here.

CAK v Trinity Christian - CAK advances

CAK is accustomed to playing high caliber teams, and they should be good for a solid quarterfinal win. This is nothing against Trinity Christian, but I'm calling CAK to advance on a multiple goal margin.

Kingsbury v Greeneville - Greeneville edges Kingsbury

Greeneville has seen Kingsbury now for the past three years with Kingsbury advancing 2-1 for both of the past two years (and later advancing to the state final both years to become two-time runners up). The third time will be the charm for the Devils in this heated series.

Greeneville has a strong senior class (13 seniors?) with an incredibly fast junior forward and a very talented sophomore goalkeeper.

Christ Presbyterian v East Hamilton - East Hamilton wins

This looks to be one of the tougher match-ups Both CPA and East Hamilton have excellent quads from what I have heard this year. East Hamilton defeated CPA 4-1 earlier this year, but I expect a closer margin of victory for EH the second time around.

I'm not going to make semi-final predictions yet.

    Comments, etc are welcome.
