1. QUOTE(whbaseball5 @ Mar 27 2007 - 01:55 PM) 826424110umm yea he is in the minors right now i think dont know who for or with

If your talking about Justin Pickett, he is in the San Diego Padres farm system currently after he played for the junior college world series champs, Walters State Community College.

  2. QUOTE(HeritagePunter @ Feb 19 2007 - 01:41 AM) 826378821In regards to Coach Davis leaving before the game. A lot of people forget or just plain dont know that for quite a few weeks back in the fall he was sick to the point where he was almost on his death bed. He's still workin on getting his energy back, thats why he doesnt stay for the guys games. The girls games take a lot out of him, and some times its all he can do to stay for the girls. I've heard him get a lot of criticism for the ways he coaches. Remember though, before he started coaching these girls never even thought winning a District tourney game, let alone playing in the Distric Championship. I know it does help that you have the two leading scorers in the County in Chelsea Hannah and Brandi Redding, but I think he deserves a little bit more credit. A lot of people can sit on the sidelines or in the stands and coach, but it takes something special to apply what you know on the court. I definately thought that he could've treated the McEwen game a little differently, but still its not our spot to say whether he's a bad coach or not. I think the girls on this team have developed their talents, I remember a time when they couldnt hit water if they fell out of a boat. Thats not the same case anymore. I know Coach Davis has stressed game experience and the girls scrimmage a lot. They've developed as a team, and I think it helps with Coach Singer being a younger woman and she relates well with these girls and keeps them together as a team. Also, leadership from Nat, Brandi, Shorter, Hannah, and freshman Shelby Ray steppin up has developed this team. I think all together they have a great package. With the exception of maybe some personnel trouble every once in a while. I think Davis does a pretty good job....

I am sorry that Davis has been sick...he looks to be well now, though. How tiring is it to sit on a bleacher and watch a game? All the boys coaches have been there and supported the girls team. It just looks so bad to see a "Coach" leaving the gym after a game while another one is starting. He teaches alot of those boys and he does not even pretend to support them. It infuriates me to see him leave. Oh and it will be interesting to see if he is at the gym tonight to support the boys team against Eagleville. Maybe Newblue will use speed dial and remind him of the game. Should be interesting to see...since he has not used all his energy (ha) coaching(ha) the girls today!!!

  3. QUOTE(Treyvols99 @ Feb 24 2007 - 11:35 AM) 826387185It is Gameday!!! I hope Cascade comes out and puts it on East Lit early. We need to outscore them and keep the lead from the get go. Should be another crazy night in Wartrace. I hope we stay fouced amd play like we have the past 5 games. Good luck to the Champs and all other district 9A teams. Should be a great one tonight. Two more wins and you are automatically in the sub state. Take it one game at a time.

    Go Champs

I know there is some talk about East Lit. coming out in a 2-2-1 zone, i am sure they will show the trapping zone, and they are very active. BUT, i saw them play NCS and Houston Co. and they are playing a VERY aggressive man to man and i know you can count on it, they WILL be in Cascades shorts all night reaking havoc. I think this is a very interesting match up and i think it depends on whether or not East Lit. comes to play, because when they do, they can be hard to beat. Can anyone tell me if Eagleville runs a lot of man to man or are they mostly a zone oriented defensive team. Thanks and good luck to all.

  4. QUOTE(can @ Feb 21 2007 - 09:25 PM) 826383664So since the girls and the guys are both playing eagleville in the opener will the guys play on Sat or Friday after the girls. It seems crazy to make them drive 2 days all the way the to the Big House???

no, the girls play friday night and the guys will be playing saturday night. for some reason, they couldnt have it on the same night. not sure why!

  5. The White House Heritage Patriots showed what they were made of in a big win over Nashville Christian last night to clinch the tournament championship. Heritage has now won 14 games in a row and are not ready to quit yet!! This team has now had 3 seasons with 20 plus wins- pretty awesome for a young team which started only 1 senior in all the previous years. Heritage also took first in regular district play this season. Congratulations to the players, Coach Petrone, Coach Doty and Coach Ballard for a great season so far! Good luck in the regions and let's go to State!!!! You all made us proud.

  6. QUOTE(Brad3705 @ Feb 18 2007 - 09:35 PM) 826378490i personally think that ncs is the best team in the tourny. i think they willl beat heritage by 10 at least. heritage is a good team but they cant handle ncs's ablity to shoot the ball and make the extra pass to get the ball to the open man.

53-39 54-40 Do these numbers ring a bell? They are the scores of the games that Heritage and NCS have played this year. I think they handled the whole team pretty well. How do you explain the scores of those two games? just asking....

Oh by the way, Heritage won both games.

  7. QUOTE(bluesbrother @ Feb 10 2007 - 11:11 AM) 826366164You are right Maroon Maniac. Heritage owned the game last night until Coach had a total brain fade and left Hannah out the final 2 minutes.... I heard he must have forgotten about their Senior reception too....So sad to see so much talent not get fully developed!!

Kudos to Seniors Shorter and Crunk. I was sad to see their Senior night end so badly.

I know Heritage is playing E Lit does anyone have the rest of the tourney info.

I agree with Bluesbrother-- It is sad that the Heritage girls coach has not tried to develop the talent on that team. The coach did not stay for the senior reception and always leaves before the boys games start. I think he needs to go. A coach needs to have a better connection with the players, not to mention respect. No one respects him. The girls at Heritage have made it this far this season, not because of the coach, but because of the assistant caoch Cayce and because these girls have heart, and talent and want it so badly. I, for one, would like to thank Coach Cayce for her dedication and friendship to the girls and I think they will go far in spite of the head coach. GO Patriots!!!!

  8. QUOTE(bobbybooshay @ Feb 18 2007 - 07:29 PM) 826378129Well I guess Pepperoni is at it again - no way games should have been cancelled & rescheduled for Mon & Tues. Sure hope NCS lites it up & wins the tournament.

For your information... Coach Petrone is not the director of the tournament and had no say so in the decision to reschedule. White House had snow all day on Saturday and by 9 o'clock on Sat night the streets were covered with ice. (I-65 was also shut down northbound and down to one lane southbound because of road conditions and wrecks. ) The tournament director and local police made the decision, get your facts straight. just because you lost doesnt mean PETRONE is at fault.

  9. QUOTE(qbmom14 @ Feb 16 2007 - 04:23 PM) 826374919

Did u see what happened before the player got punched in the groin? or are u totally one sided?

does anything justify one guy hitting another in the groin?? hill wasnt doing anything to deserve that dirty punch, he was just playing ball. i know that 2 of the 4 times hill has played at mcewen two fans (each in different instances)has been kicked out of the game for punching him the head. mcewen fans will always try to justify what their players do, but they are just out and out DIRTY, and so are the fans.

  10. QUOTE(warriorfan2222 @ Feb 16 2007 - 09:14 AM) 826374305

I was at this game, and I saw this incident, Hill looked at the coach, looked at the score board and then winked at the coach. that is NOT sportsmanship to no extent!

How did you see Hill wink at the coach unless you were on the bench?? The coach put 55 in to try to hurt someone. Is that sportsmanship? I, for one, am glad that McEwen is done for this year so no one gets hurt!! also a note to Traderjack-- the attitudes that were a problem are no longer there. We have not had one tech all year. Can McEwen say that?

  11. QUOTE(warriorfan2222 @ Feb 15 2007 - 06:56 PM) 826373500

Now you tell me...what basketball drills do u know of, that show how to foul correctly, and what nuttcase of a coach would waste his practice time showing how to foul "correctly"?, exactly..no one, i used to play for mcewen and there has NEVER been a case where players we told or encouraged to play dirty, end of story!!

There is a difference in fouling and intentional fouling. Taking out a players legs as he is going for a lay-up, punching a player in the groin with a fist, hacking, slapping, etc.... Maybe the coach never taught dirty play but he sure does not discourage it!

  12. QUOTE(irish43 @ Feb 15 2007 - 09:13 AM) 826372779

so, the mcewen-houston co. game was a good one. however, there were SEVERAL fouls committed by the mcewen team that could have injured someone seriously. the officals did not have the game under control; however, mcewen's boys should have better judgement on things of that nature. it went both ways, houston co. fouled as well but not the extent that mcewen took it. mcewen does play dirty and even more so when they are down. they are a good team, they just need some work on FOULS.

Thank you!! Now we know it's not just us that thinks they are dirty- when they are winning it's not so bad...this year they were bad.

  13. QUOTE(Youngtower28 @ Feb 14 2007 - 08:04 PM) 826372155

    I agree 100%.

dont speak to quick about this..district 10 is very strong 1-4 and i DEFINATELY wouldnt see anyone in yalls district beating our top 4, or one seed as yall say, EASILY..come on..let the play do the talking..

  14. QUOTE(warriorfan2222 @ Feb 11 2007 - 10:16 AM) 826367192

    What's yall's opinion on mcewen basketball....good, bad......

    OK, you asked....

In my opinion, McEwens team is not so good this year. I have seen them play three times and when they get behind in the score they start to play dirty. I think that the coach encourages this, as I have seen him say "good Job" when a player commits a hard foul on another player. You asked for my opinion and it is that they are a dirty playing team. Sorry.

  15. QUOTE(Treyvols99 @ Feb 9 2007 - 03:54 PM) 826365377

I think that this is one of the most even regions when you take all eight teams that should make it barring any upsets, which can most certainly happen during tourney time. I believe either district could take the regional crown or split the two spots for substate.. Cascade has split with NCA this year and been beaten by East Lit so to say one team is a favorite that would strictly be an opinion. The next two weeks will be very competitive as well as exciting. Good luck to all teams involved.

the first time Cascade beat Nashville Christian NC was without its best player who is a HUGE part of their game. NC beat Cascade with him. And what was the score when East Lit. played Cascade?

  16. QUOTE(kyskywalker @ Feb 8 2007 - 08:47 PM) 826364312

The only team that I would consider good on their schedule over the last 10 games would be Station Camp. I can't believe you think they are one of the best defensive teams in the State. Shouldn't they have to play some of the top teams and be able to stop them to consider them one of the best in the state?

Would one of the best defenses in the state allow 102 points to Union City..a single A school..i can guarantee not everyone they have played allowed 102 to union city so wouldnt that make all the other schools they have played a better defensive team than White House..just a thought..

  17. QUOTE(triplethreat_00 @ Feb 9 2007 - 03:36 PM) 826365357

I don't know what kind of size White House has...but Beech has lost a lot of close games lately and I am sure they don't wanna drop this one! You can count on them coming out with a lot of desire tonight...

    Or...

They may come out a little bit complacent because it is a non-district game against a team of a lesser class. If that happens then White House will run them. Beech isn't very cohesive right now from what I can tell.

i say White House runs away with it..and just for your info..white house has great size..their starting posts are 6'7 and 6'5 and have great post up skills..they may be even taller than that. White House by 15-20
