Huntingdon can’t be thinking about that. Riverside will roll into town ready to play.
Players can't, but fans can be as unfocused as they want.
Riverside will be out for revenge and Huntingdon can't have a bad game. Huntingdon has definitely improved since first match. Will find out soon enough if Riverside has improved enough to overtake the Stangs.

Gold ball for the Mustangs
I am not sure any team from the west has anything for Tyner. Looking at scores, they have played very well all season.

Good luck Huntingdon. They were the better team tonight.
The mystery "illegal shift" calls all night and getting behind the sticks did not help UC's efforts.
You may not like the calls but they were legit. It wasn't the first time it happened, just first time it was called.
Probably the fastest half of football I have seen.
Both teams played exceptionally well. UC defensive line was a force and Huntingdons defensive line returned the favor.
Huntingdons secondary probably had their best game of the year. In position and able to make big plays over and over. Granted there wasn't a lot of passing.

I don’t believe your play calling was very good tonight. Just as last year your coordinator tries to be too cute. With your team you should be running 80 percent of the time. Do that and y’all will be a tough out for anybody in the playoffs.Y’all got some of the pretty knocked of you tonight. It will help your team in the long run.
FYI, I am a Huntingdon fan.

Strongly disagree. While I agree the game was much closer than the final score indicated, you don't win by 4 scores getting outplayed...
Huntingdon's offensive line was outplayed all night. Granted they were outnumbered. Huntingdon's defensive front was run over all night. Penalties and fumbles killed multiple drives that Riverside had. Don't get me wrong I am glad Huntingdon won but that is about as ugly a win you can have.
Riverside turned the ball over when they were not even touched a couple times. They put the ball on the ground multiple times that cost them downs.
Not sure on stats but I bet there was less than 100 yards difference in total yards and get beat by 26?

My belief it was the difference in hoping to win and expecting to win.

That was the closest 33-7 ballgame I believe I have ever seen.
Riverside did everything they could to give the game away and did a very good job of it. Huntingdon was outplayed most of the night but took advantage every time it counted.
At the end of the game, Riverside was gassed and Huntingdon had some quick scoring strikes.

Congrats Hampton, you guys went through a lot to get to this point, Felt like TC relaxed after we got up 20-8, but figured we were done at Meigs, kids played there tell off, just a play here or play there, but congrats again Bulldogs, your prize is Ty Simpson
Riverside is hanging tough. 18-14 Riverside at the half.
Game is on Facebook. TNLToday

I'm leaning with MAHS in this game and here's why:
I can see where you are coming from on every point. Here are my takes.
1) Pretty sure MAHS will have some better athletes than Huntingdon. That was the case with Peabody and Mitchell. Better athletes does not equate to better team.
2) One of the best run defense in Shelby county? Ok, not sure where that stacks up across west TN. As has been mentioned previously by other posters, Shelby county is not known for smash mouth football for the most part.
3) Schedule test. Huntingdon by a mile in this one. MAHS has played 4 teams with winning records, went 3-1. Winning percentage of those teams was 66%. Huntingdon has played 6 teams with winning records, went 4-2. Winning percentage of those teams was 85%. No offense to Camden but claiming anything by a 44 point win margin is pointless. Fairley scored 56 on UC which is 8 points more than Huntingdon scored, but Fairley also allowed 35 which is 21 more than Huntingdon allowed. There is no easy way to compare schedules but Huntingdon is definitely more battle tested than MAHS.
4) Huntingdon has to be consistent in the run game. Huntingdon will be consistent, and persistent. It is in Huntingdon's DNA. Huntingdon has actually developed an amazing passing attack (at least by Huntingdon standards).
5) Fewest points MAHS has scored is 26. Same for Huntingdon. MAHS is averaging 43 points/game. Huntingdon is averaging 44.7. Will concede that Huntingdon is giving up more. Partly due to giving up big plays to often. Mostly due to better competition in my opinion.
6) MAHS is pretty close to Westview. Not ready to go there yet. I believe both are really good teams.
This should be a better game than last week. MAHS will have to be ready to play 4 quarters. Huntingdon will grind and grind and grind all night. Huntingdon needs to make them earn every score and not give up too many big plays.

You are correct. I thought they took the ball from our 4th string running back and scored.
That happened as well.
Huntingdon still has to work on pass coverage but overall good execution. Great execution if you compare to the start of the year. The improvement in this team over the course of the year is a credit to the coaching staff and the players.

2 of Mitchell’s scores were late in the game when our subs where in and theirs weren’t.
Mitchell only scored once in the 2nd half.
It was 27-16 at half. Granted one of those was a short field drive, but it was against first team.

Peabody will still be in the championship game. Everyone has a off night and the streak ends. But please look past us next week. We will be ready for a battle.
Trenton did not have an off night. Huntingdon played mistake free football all night.

Well GB looked like the second best today. LC 8 points at the half.
LC only had 8 because of penalties and missed opportunities.
They are the most complete 1A team in the state this year. I am biased but I believe Huntingdon would have beat Greenback as well.

Congrats to LC. The better team won tonight.
Only regret in the game is the turnovers. Otherwise a well played game on both sides.
Glad that the refs were a non factor. I didn't disagree with any of the calls.

O.K. This topic is starting to sound like a bunch of third graders trying to get the last word. May the best team win friday night. Either way, two very good 1a teams are playing and both deserve where they are at. Im a Mustang fan and really want to win, but if we dont i take my hat off to lake county and hope the winner of this game goes on and brings the gold ball back to west tennessee. flatfoot out.
Agreed.
I stayed away for a while but kinda like a train wreck you can't stop looking.
I have a lot of respect for the LC program. Wish everyone a safe game and good sportsmanship.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Couchpotato. No need to do that. You wont make it to 200 posts till next year.I think you on about 192 so far.Keep it going. You know LC going to win this game
The only game that I know LC will win is the BS going on in here. I have probably spent more time in Lake county than all of the Huntingdon poster in here combined. I know the crap that comes out of LC.
LC may very well win this game but they may just get their feelings hurt really bad.

I’ve watched my high school beat your high school the past 2 years, so I’m higher on the totem pole on this website than you are.
And I make more money a year than you do.
Are you man enough to post your W2’s from last year to confirm? I will.
Do not reply to me again unless it’s a screenshot your 2018 earnings. I have mine ready. I am waiting on you.
Oh look, Felicia came back while I was away.
I will take your challenge. Your challenge, you first. It better be a 6 figure number or you are wasting everyone's time. Well heck you do that anyways. Just so you understand. That is 6 figures in front of the decimal. Sorry, this thing ".".
Since you want to issue challenges, I have one of my own.
If Huntingdon wins, you come back Friday night eat your crow and not post again the rest of this year. If Lake county wins, I will do the same.
I started to say until Cornersville beat Huntingdon and vice versa again, but I didn't think that would be fair to your mom. She would have to put up with your crap all by herself.
Bye Felicia

Good question
The number of good teams in 1A is not very big right now. Honestly the 4 best 1A teams will be playing Friday night and the drop off to the next tier is pretty big.
Out of region games is the only competition that any of the top programs have.

Come on man if your the same poster I remember which you may not be you have to consider the teams you have played. Not saying it’s yalls fault teams were extremely down that was on your schedule but I personally would consider it a cupcake schedule.
How many top 1A teams would you say did not have a cupcake schedule?

BREAKING NEWS!!!
Lake County has a game plan the huntingdon mustangs don’t understand.
Huntingdon is known for falling short in the big game. There are a few similarities between the 1994-1997 Tennessee Vols. The fan base of huntingdon today is similar to the fan base of the Vols from 1999 to date.
Lake county has altered egos of the current huntingdon fan base to the point of spontaneous combustion.
Has Lake Counties’ strategy of altering stats to fool the huntingdon fan base been too obvious? TUNE IN TOMORROW TO FIND OUT!!!!
Since you like stats so much, here is another one for you.
All time playoff win percentage.
Huntingdon - 64%
Lake Co - 60%
That means LC has fallen short more often than Huntingdon. Guess a loss by Huntingdon Friday night will be an upset, but a loss by LC would just be the norm.
-
One of the truly unique aspects of this game is that neither fan base has a good idea of how good or bad their respective team actually is.
We both have seen a lot of blowouts and only a couple of quality opponents.
About all anyone can go on is how physical the play has been and how has the team executed.
Looking for a slug fest where the first team that doesn't hold serve on scoring could be the loser.

Riverside coming to Huntingdon (semi finals)
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted
As in the first game, Huntingdon was outplayed. Riverside has Huntingdon outsized up front and it showed up. Without the mistakes that Riverside made in the first game, outcome is different.
Congratulations Riverside, represent West TN well in Chattanooga.
Great season Huntingdon, look forward to watching this group the next few years.
