  1. Its a shame Franklin County had a darn good coach and you're gonna fire him. I don't think you realize what you are losing. I have been reading all of these negative comments, and just can't help but wonder how well do you know Coach Smith. Because if you knew him at all you would know yes he LOVES winning. He is constantly coming up with new play ideas. That he will run over and over on a sheet of paper. He constantly is thinking about how each one of those boys on the team can bring something different something fresh. BUT he knows that football teaches so much more than winning a game. And I will bet what life lessons Coach Smith has taught these young men will leave more of an impact then the number of wins/loses they had. Politics play such a role in school these days. It's funny that Coach Smith is the one to go, when the problem is deeper in the athletic program. But good thing for Coach, he will be just fine. There are plenty of schools that can look at his career record and know they are getting a GREAT COACH.

  2. coach Austin is a great football coach and even a better man. He gave everything he had to the kids and the program. no one loved moore county more or gave more. two years is never long enough to prove your value as a head coach. everything now days has matriculated into the same thing as the pro game and the college game. If things do not work fast, get rid of the coach and give some else a shot. People do not get into coaching to get rich. Jeremy will have left in his six years there having affected lots of young men and women in a very positive way. A football coach is just like any other job except it is spot lighted on 10 and if you happen to get lucky 15 Friday nights each year in the fall. Many do not see the sacrifice that each coach makes to his own family and he helps raise and turn boys into men. For every hour of games played under the lights there are hundreds more in the weight room, practice field and at home in front of a computer or a tv watching film of the next weeks opponent. Just like everyone I know no one ever wants to lose and coaches do not get into coaching to ever lose, we all hate it. So whether coach mac comes back or it is someone else it is still the loss of a great guy and a fantastic football coach who happens to be one of my good friends. The life of most coaches is a life of a wanderer, some by choice, some by circumstance. Bear Bryant, who my son is named after, said there were only two types of coaches, those that are fired, and those that will be. We live in a magical age of twitter, blogs, insta- gramming in which anyone that can type can put up truths and untruths about anyone whether they have any truth to them or not. So instant results are usually demanded and when not met dealt with harshly. the only thing I do know is that Jeremy and his family will rebound and rebuild and someone will be lucky to have him. That is what kind of person he is and the person that he taught his kids to be while he coached them. He will learn and move on.

Great post, Coach.... Sure wish things would have been different for Jeremy and you. And you both could still be coaching some Raider football.
  3. Appreciate it Southtowner!... Don't know why those Lynchburgers are so quiet. If I were in their shoes, I'd be liking their chances this

I'm always up for good BBQ, had a fellow mTp alumini come in work today suggesting the same place; said it sure was good.

I was thinking maybe that JD restaurant maybe was a good steak house or something but I can't get no answer.....

    .

Big Bigby my apologies for not recommending you somewhere good. Barrelhouse BBQ is definitely a great choice. This thread got away from the original topic with MC and MtP. I got tired of goin back and forth with Huntland.

  4. To help take this a step farther....

    Huntland vs Fayetteville

    Huntland lost 49 - 21

    Moore County vs Fayetteville

    Moore Co. lost 14 - 0

If you would read my entire post you would see I covered that. I'm not interested in a peeing match. I pretty much gave you the facts. Yet you seem to want to continue to rehash. Here's what Friday night holds for Huntland, if Moore County wins, y'all are out. Bitter Sweet don't you think.

  6. All your defense proved was that it was not as good as Huntlands. Huntland had 3 turnovers and a blocked punt putting you in the red zone 3 times with o points. Looked to me like the Hornets were an overall better team that night, quit making excuses and understand that the Hornets dominated that game. Your defense held Huntlands back to over 200 yards, if you think that is good keep bragging about your defense. Just in case anyone is wondering the final score was Huntland 14 Moore County 0. Enough said...........

I think you may want to read over my post again. First I never claimed our defense was impressive, I do think Huntland scoring only 14pts against our D does say something. I don't believe in any of my posts I made any excuses for our loss. Nor do I think I was bragging. We lost. Do I personally think it was because Huntland dominated no. If that were the case the score would have been much higher. I will give credit where credit is due, we didn't score any. But let's really compare our seasons. Both lost to Forrest, neither team scoring. But our D only allowed 22pts, Huntland 35. Fay. City. Both teams lost,Huntland managed to put up 21& let Fay.City Score 49. MC only allowed Fay.City to score 14& our offense was unable to score. Now let's compare or wins.

    HUNTLAND. MOORECOUNTY

    Summertown 41-14 Summertown 46-6

    Richland 35-6. Richland 53-14

    Cornersville 47-21. Cornersville 48-7

    GCA 69-50. GCA 42-10

I would hardly say Huntland is any better than Moore Co. Yall beat us. Its done. The rival continues. Look forward to next year my friend.

  7. Watched several highlight films off of Hudl (that's all I can access) and MC has the potential to give mTp a fit.... #44 defensively stops almost anything to his side of the line, #21 is an elusive back at times and I believe it is #1 at QB that is quick, elusive and decent on accuracy.... I've seen a bunch of Raider's recievers open beating the DB's on several games, not always thrown too, but wide open non the less, but when thrown too, those boys catch the ball.

mTp's DB's would be better served to play up, tight and man to man not giving up the receiver getting behind them for a TD pass and let the line and LB'S cover the run game... #55 Russell in at LB now is a force to reckon with and has improved his tackles #'s greatly and #60 Davis is good on the line, of course little #6 Stokes is always after the ball and a baller.... If a run gets by the line, then drop coverage and make the play, might give up yards but not a TD like Summertown burned the Tigers with.

Everyone healthy for MC or have you got injuries to key players and banged up on others?

Yes our boys are healthy and will be playing with everything they have. These Seniors have so much talent and unfortunately for various reason weren't able to show that this year. Since their 8th grade year with a winning record 10-0 and beating Cascade in the championship, Moore County has expected to see them to the same this year. I could waste this entire thread on putting the blame on someone or something, but Instead here we are 3 days from meeting mTp. Its gonna be a good game. I think the Raiders are gonna come out ready to play. Having home field advantage is a major plus. But again, both teams are gonna come to win. And it will come down to who wants it more.

  8. If it wasn't your Raider team out there vs Huntland, whose team was it? I heard they had Raider uniforms on and some of the Lynchburg community was there.

Well I guess if you "heard" then you weren't there. Yes our boys in blue along with fans were there. I simply meant that the team that "showed up" wasn't the same team in practice that week. Unfortunately we lost to Huntland, but it wasnt because of Huntland was the better team. Our defense proved that. We beat ourselves, offensively we couldn't get anywhere.

  9. Thanks for the breakdown so the country folks like myself get a better understanding. Big Bigby appreciate the neutral vibes. Mostly definitely will be a good game. Both teams know what's on the line. Our Seniors know this could be it. It will come down to simply who wants it more. The loss to Huntland hurt more because that wasn't our team out there. Friday night will be a nail bitter. Obviously I'm pulling for a MC win. But it's gonna be interesting..

  10. Unfortunately the stands are filled with fans just like this one, meaning olebue78, every Friday night.  The fence is lined with "fans" who obviously should've gone to school for a degree in teaching and coaching because they know it all.  You'd think we had every Mr. Football for the last 20 years there.  What this program could use is a stadium full of men and women who were real fans-- who cheered for the 14, 15, 16, and 17 year old boys out there enjoying their high school years with a game they love and who supported a coaching staff who is trying to not just teach them the game of football but also what it means to be men of character.   It's really easy to play and coach from the stands.

Sadly,raiderfan12,you haven't heard the phrase, " you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you." We take care of our players. And to say the stands are "filled", and the fence is "lined". To say what this program could use is men and women who were "real fans". Let me tell about "real fans." "Real fans" don't just show up on Friday night to support their Raiders. There are numerous members of our community that donate their time in so many ways and ask for nothing in return. Local businesses (who fill those stands, and line those fences) that make donations that help with many expenses that would come out of the pockets of parents of these players. Then there are local restaurants that fill the stands, line the fences that donate pregame meals that feed those boys that "WE" the "real fans" love. "Real fans" are scrambling around on Mondays to make sure JV players have something to eat. "Real fans" are at Raider Camp getting up early to cook breakfast, make lunch, and then cook dinner. "Raider fans" hustle and bustle to go above and beyond for our boys. Doing whatever has got to be done. So I think your statement on the "fans" is very hypocritically, when its apparent you, yourself don't have much respect or raider pride. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Oleblue78,stated an individual opinion. You, are disgracing the town.

  11. As I have followed this thread all week we have went from how "Moore County" can't hang with good teams, to some scandal with an assistant coach helping Huntland (which by the way is bullcrap) to turning this feed into a rehash between Huntland and Forrest. Huntland has had a good season the wins prove that. But to act as if there isn't any talent in Moore County is ridiculous. Outta everyone who has commented on this thread, how many of you were at the game? Because if you were watching the same game I was, Huntland wasn't at good as I expected. But a win is a win. And Moore County just didn't play like they wanted the win.

But the nerve that Huntland had by tailgating at our school, letting their kids run around on our field, really shows how much class grown adults have. With all of this being said, has anyone thought about the Moore County player that got hurt Friday night? Have you asked yourself how a rivalry could go as far as trying to purposely breaking a players ankle? And it then the fact that not one and I mean not one Huntland player took a knee out of respect for our #21. The arrogance and disrespect that was shown during that time really showed what it means to be a. "true blue" hornet. And I will take a Moore CountyAs I have followed this thread all week we have went from how "Moore County" can't hang with good teams, to some scandal with an assistant coach helping Huntland (which by the way is bullcrap) to turning this feed into a rehash between Huntland and Forrest.
