Heck Oneida and Scott are less than 10 mins apart and do not play. They have played in every sport in recent years but football.

Just don't understand.  York and Oneida went years too. Back on subject I think this one goes to Monterey.

I was told you guys were getting a transfer from Texas? Curious if you had heard anything about him?

We can only hope.  I'm not close to the program anymore all my kids are grown. I'm nothing more than a casual fan that likes to talk football.  I have heard there is a new defensive coordinator.  But dont think he is from Texas.

That's not being fair to York. Memphis basketball as a whole is way off this year from what it has been up until covid (and the liberals) shut down the city, but if there's one team that resembles a "typical" Memphis tournament team, it's Douglas. They've dispatched and dismantled every team that they've faced in the tournament, and if they play well, I doubt that anyone seriously pushes them in the second half of their remaining games. York had a fine season...just drew the short stick in their first game.

He is Butthurt the York teams have done better than his mighty buffalos and lady buffalos.

Only if you lose they are terrible! You win, it’s stop crying about the calls! Refs are at a lose lose situation

I disagree if the refsare bad they are bad win or lose.  I've said before the refs helped us win with calls I thought they got wrong.  I agree it's part of the game.  I hate to that in the state tournament it happens so often.  Win or lose your either happy they are bad or your upset they are.

High school refs have always been terrible and I’ve seen some of the worst calls made in state tournament games. It’s hard to ref basketball but they make really bad calls in situations that they shouldn’t

I would not want to be a ref that's for sure and respect those that do most of the time.

Regions 1 and 2 in 2A are hands down the worst regions in the state in any classification.   York had to be better than 8 other teams to get to the semis.  4 of those teams won a total of 2 region games (Cumberland Gap, Happy Valley, Oneida,  and Wartburg).  South Green was not much better.  Hampton, Rockwood, and Monterey were slightly better than mediocre at best.  That is how hard it was to make it to the semis out of those regions.  When York played Tyner it was a running clock in the first half.  Tyner could have scored 80.

Wonder how it would have looked if York had the coach from last year.  On another thread your talking about how much the coach at Wartburg has accomplished in a year but this one they suck.

Personally I’m not a fan of the call in that situation but have the benefit of watching the video.

Video shows it even better no contact with body perfect block.  I think a lot of times fefs blow their whistle in anticipation of somthing happening and then you gotta call something   I hate it for those young ladies but unfortunately refs are a huge part of the game.  I've watched two games this week with oneofficial being in both and both games she called foul count was very lopsided.  York will live to fight another day.  This was a very fun group to watch.

With one county having two "storied programs" isn't it sad they still won't play each other because of something that happened sixty years ago? I heard a rumor that YAI reached out to Clarkrange to play and Clarkrange declined.

They refused last year in a Christmas tournament

Way too early to be declaring who is best. That works itself out at the State tourney. Enjoy your ride and know you'll be playing teams that match up with you when you meet down the road. When you go all season without playing anyone who knows how to defend, then it doesn't always work out in your favor when you have to see it & they have scorers as well.

York coach did me a good job scheduling out of region games with tough team's.  I enjoy that he is a young coach and coaches defense as hard as he does.  Hiring him when they did 4 years ago saved the basketball program. I don't think many of these girls are at York had they not made the change when they did.  Going to be to be along for the ride. These girls are definitely a hard working TEAM!

which is exactly why sub state games should be played at a neutral site with multiple games on a Saturday. Games would draw huge crowds and be played in a championship style environment instead of an extreme home court environment. State wide media coverage could be arranged, increasing teams exposure and creating a bigger build of excitement for the state tournament.

I disagree. It should had an advantage to the winner of the region. The team I root for had both last year Girls traveled for substate boys was home. What n the region get advantage.  It's a reward for an accomplishment.

Tournament should not be a blind draw. Football isn't, no reason basketball should be. Set it up in advance which regions draw each other and rotate yearly. Simply ensure that two teams from the same region are on opposite ends of bracket. Simple, fair, and  equitable.

On a side note, I'd still like to see sub state games played at a neutral site with multiple games, and classes playing at each site using college or municipal arenas as host sites. This format should draw huge crowds and media interest while providing a state like atmosphere while games are played at a neutral site.

The other recommendation would be for the TSSAA to get rid of that awful NFHS Network. There are independent broadcast companies and individual schools in the state of Tennessee who would do a much better job than the out of state and lousy NFHS. This should be at all levels of post season play.

I agree with putting same regions in different sides of the bracket but think the winning the region tournament should give you that home  substate game.  This allows teams to play in some awesome environments.  Win the region and it’s a huge home court advantage lose and you’re in a hostile environment.
