Which county official or officials said no? If that question can be answered then we can identify exactly who hijacked the process.

Information that I heard was this. The AD and Mr. Moffett wanted to open up the whole application process again. But were told no by either Mr. Brookshire or Mr. Tinker. The chairman of committee should have made the decision. (Right or wrong) But, my question is why they did not continue the process they had already used? 3rd  person with most votes. Sounds like Coach Ryan was not the guy they wanted, so at that time they changed their process. In the end, had our community rep voted for us, Coach Ryan could have secured the job (maybe) but he voted for Clemmer. If you’re not happy, let him know at the ballot box.

Well, I can almost 100% guarantee that the Greenback school board seat will be challenged next election! I hope Phil wasn't looking to be re-elected.

Well II have seen the emails sent by both Brian Hanley and Jimmy Stinnett so I can tell you first hand that both of the voted for Greg Ryan.  So if that is what Mr. Brookshire told you yes he lied. But I know him better than that so maybe you have made a mistake in what you heard. I personally have sent Mr. Brookshire a request for every vote that was made during this whole debacle. I hope I get it soon. Be cause if all 6 of these people say they did what they felt was right for our kids and school and our community the they should not have a problem with the public seeing their votes, unless they have something to hide.

I talked with Mr. Brookshire prior to the final vote. When I spoke with him the vote was 5-1. You are talking about the final vote which ended up 3-2-1. And btw my hearing is good.

I know for a fact that the two from the community never changed their vote! They both voted for Greg Ryan every time there was a vote, or at least the three they new about. So whoever said it was 5 -1 is wrong. Unless you can prove otherwise.

Spoke directly to the principal, Mr. Brookshire, who gave me the info. He is part of selection committee. I am no reason to believe he lied to me. Believe it or not.

You are very knowledgeable on here and you've seen both teams firsthand, though we didn't show much of certain aspects of our offense in that scrimmage. You've already predicted we will lose. I'm curious....not debating your opinion at all....AND, there better not be anyone from GCA on here bragging, or being overly optimistic after last year's performance up there. Respect is earned on the field. We've not done that yet. Besides HV having a great line and always a good defense in general (we've played better I'd imagine.....Alcoa,) why do you so confidently predict we will lose?

What aspects specifically are going to likely cost us this game? I'm seriously not loading up for a back n forth like everybody got into last week. I don't have the energy or desire to get into that junk again. I'm just a curious GCA fan trying to be prepared for what's coming our way. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Here's some of that junk for you, anyway! Your not playing at home!

I just watched the game and I'm going to call it like I see it. Oline got their butt's handed to them all night. Center having a bad night with all the high snaps. Poor playing! But facts are facts, the kids got cheated!!! No excuse for refs to cheat kids. GCA could have probably pull out a close one without the refs. (MAYBE). Guess nobody will ever know. I'm not going to say someone paid off anyone or anything like that. But no way they won that game straight up!!!!

    very accurate!

First of all this was the worst officiated game I have ever seen in my life. I watched the game and couldn't believe that this could happen in this day and time. But, if we stop #4 running off the left tackle a few of the maybe 20 times that he ran it in the 2nd half we might not be talking about a loss. Losing Ryan's play calling hurt us, but he had to do what he did. On a bright note #24 and #6 really ran the ball hard, I was glad to see #24 run with attitude last night and #23 has some great hands . Cant wait until next year, It will be a gut stomping to remember. Overall very proud of all the boys there is no way I could have made it through that game, I would have been sitting on the bus with coach Ryan after an ejection.

Also props to the GCA defense for stopping us 3 times inside the 20 in the first half. I know some of it was ref assisted but they still stopped us. Should have been 28-0 at the half.

    good post!!!!

Ladykee, I will agree with you on most aspects. I spoke to my son who is a player on Grace. He said that the GB players were overall good players and played a good game. At the end of the day, both teams played, good, hard football. I’m sure there will be plenty of bumps and bruises on both sides tomorrow. If it seems Grace fans are surprised by all this, we are. Because Grace is a private school, other teams automatically assume everyone at Grace is rich and the players “daddy’s” buy the games. I can assure you that is no where near the truth. Are there kids who go to Grace who’s parents are well off. Sure. But most are middle class parents who struggle every week, just like the rest of us, to provide for their kids to have a good education. So I find it hysterical when people say Grace bought this or paid off that. Too be honest, because Grace is a private school, their fans feel like they always get more calls and penalties against them then the visiting team. That’s why this is so unbelievable that these posts are happening. Greenback is feeling tonight, what we feel almost every other week.

Pat the end of the day, both teams played hard. Like you said, had Greenback won, there wouldn’t have been a peep about the refs performance tonight. I just don’t think it is fair to take away from the Grace players and minimize the hard fought game they played. Like the end result or not, they both played a hard game and I give each teM credit for that.

If someone who knows FOOTBALL and watches the playback of this game can tell me truthfully and honestly that it was not called in GRACE's favor then I will stand corrected!

Sox...sorry, but the individual official association that a school uses, that association's supervisor(s) assigns who's officiating what game, the only time TSSAA assigns is during the playoffs. Take the Blount County Association their supervisor(s) are Hodson/Coulter.

    I warned you all!

Erase it from your mind all you want, but history will still show

    Grace          21

    Greenback 7

and then you all wonder why know one wants to play at your house! UNFAIR TERRITORY!!!!!!! HISTORY HAS SHOWN US THAT! I AM TIRED OF THIS AND THAT - looking forward to the game Oct. 6th. dis Grace!

Your team had 15, not 35 penalties. You had 2 fumbles and threw 1 interception. When your penalty factor is off by a margin of 20, you lose all credibility PERIOD. So let's get this straight, all I hear is the helmet play not being a penalty. Let's say it was called. 15 yards on a PAT. It occurred after the 2nd TD, didn't affect score in any fashion. A PAT that GCA missed anyway. No factor.

Grow up, you are teaching your kids if you don't get the outcome you want, then completely blame 2 other entities

Grow up? really - stick with facts and don't get personal -  it is a win for GRACE - no matter how you got it!

Ok...so who paid the $750+ for the officials ($100 per field ref & $70 for ECO) if your saying GCA didn't... the booster club, WMU, the deacons, AAEO-NAMB, GOTM (being observed now), LMCO-IMB...may have went to far with stating the mission offerings, but it is the responsibility GCA to pay the officials. And that's not a liable statement.

don't mess with the Cherokean! he WILL set you straight!

15 Greenback Team penalties. 3 on one play. 2 unsportsmanlike for coach and 1 for a player

15 team peanlties? and was that when the player ripped our player's helmet off and threw it down the field? it is on film - just amazing that the refs didn't see that.

  14. this poster is not complaining, crying or screaming just stating facts as I said - 35/2 in penalties is rather uneven! something stunk at GRACE tonight and it wasn't in the locker room, it was on the field by the men in striped shirts! Anyone who knows anything about football knows the penalty ratio is questionable!

  15. The game played tonight was very sad. Sad in the fact that the refs actually took the game out of the players hands.  For what I have heard there were 37 penalties called.  35 against GB and 2 against GCA. Even if I had not seen it for myself and had only heard this, I would have thought that GCA must have been playing a team that could not even line up. We all know that is not the case, Greenback is rated 5th in the state in 1A football and there is no way that Grace can compete with them. The refs were a factor in this game and anyone that says they were not doesn't know anything about the game of football. Our boys were defeated in spirit not by a better football team and what was done to them by a group of adult men is despicable! Say we are sore losers, but the facts are facts.  GREENBACK GOT ROBBED NOT BEATEN!

  16. GBnation loving banana pudding is an understatement.  He shared that info. at our church and now every woman in the church brings banana pudding for him! that is the truth! he loves it almost as much as he loves hotdogs. He will be your best customer Fri. night. Lord willin and the creek don't rise.

  17. Just want to say that some of you all might be overlooking one kid but  of course I noticed. #24 touches the ball 5 times for a total of 77 yards. No fumbles, Great eye for the field and averaged 14.8 yards a carry. HUMMM!!! Also 9 tackles on Defense. This kid has been overlooked but maybe in the next few years he will show everyone who he is, Also Hunter #8 did have a good game, Great tackles all night. Only thing I didn't like was unsportmanship flags thrown all night long. Need to get a handle on this because it will hurt at State if we don't. #24 Josh told me last night how Coalfield was pinching and kicking all night long and how he even told them to quit whinning soo much lol. Goes Both Ways! Good Luck Kee's and let's go to State!!!!!!

Only some may have overlooked the play of #24 - but those who watched the game did not - be careful - everyone doesn't get their name in the papers or mentioned on tv, etc. - that is not what matters - we all get too wrapped up in that - in some games a player will have better stats but there is much more to a good performance - leadership, sportsmanship, attitudes and playing team - these are the attributes of a great player - game in game out always bringing their A game - when they lay their head down at night they should feel proud that they gave all the good they had for their team - this is what parents should instill in them - I know that #8 believes that and I could not be more proud of him! my hope is that #23 follows in his footsteps!

  18. Cherokeean, i have a Greenback history ? for you - when did GB football originate - what year?

I have been going since i was a little girl and that has been about 60yrs. ago - I barely remember a game where Hank McGhee and Curtis Yates were playing at Vonore! I do remember the night well when we were playing Vonore at GB  and one of the biiggest fights ever broke out on the field - it cleared both stands - times have changes and we have become a little more civilized - now we fight with words (ha) - that night i remember Moe Hair and one of the Brannon brothers being involved and maybe Grady Thompson (not sure) but it was a sight!

Ask your Dad about the fight - He might have been in it! lol

  20. What is a joke is a grown man getting on here and belittling our kids. If the boys are dropping balls that should be between them and their coaches . Oh wait maybe that is hurting your kids stats . He is a good qb just overshadow by a great running back ... Maybe the boys are reading your post and dropping them on purpose

No what is a joke is a so called parent getting on here and posting this ridiculous nonsense - this is a football message board and I enjoy reading posts made by former players and then some idiot gets on here and says this - your comments are what kids don't need to hear - show some class
