First of all, congratulations to Rossview ladies coach Woods and Rossview boys coach Jackson and their teams being recognized as midstate top 10 teams! Both programs are shining examples of leadership and class from top to bottom.
Secondly, if you have a basketball-loving bone in your body then you need to show up for the Rossview boys vs Kenwood boys matchup tonight to determine first place for 10 AAA. Tip-off 7:30 pm
Goob,
I appreciate the shoutout and the kind words! Its been a fun year so far! Like you, I am very excited to watch this boys game tonight. Johnny and the boys upset Kenwood at their place last year. Hopefully, they can work some magic again tonight! I am looking forward to a great matchup tonight at the Wood!

Probably RHS. I am afraid that CHS is not as good as originally thought.
Yeah, I think the loss of the Silvers kid to Northwest has had a bigger impact than some may have anticipated. Last night was a great crowd and atmosphere, it was well officiated and just a really good basketball game. Both teams played hard, down to the wire, Rossview made the plays down the stretch that needed to be made... free throws, big rebounds, etc. But an entertaining game! Congrats to the Hawks! 1-0 in District 10AAA, with so much parity in the district, every win is critical.

I remember not too long ago when this district was dominant. CHS played in two back to back championship games. Tyrone Caldwell was such a great playmaker and had a couple shooters and a stretch 4 that was really good. Northeast had a long run of unbelievable talent even before poythress and made the final 8 numerous timeS. West creek got there behind a kid I can't seem to remember but he was tough?? Rossview had a kid named Jonathan Williams that led several good teams. Henry county had a couple strong seasons and finished top 2 a couple years. Had a 6' post that was unreal. Dickson of course with primm and cast made it to final 8 at least once I think. Seems like 5 or 6 years straight 13 aaa was represented at Murfreesboro with one if not two teams. But last several years this district really seems to have fallen off. What's the deal? All the talent gone in Clarksville ? Too much coaching turnover? It used to be one of the premier districts in the state....
I think part of the issue is that CMCSS keeps building schools, and rezoning which is watering down/splitting the talent pool. West Creek opening took some talent from Northeast and some from Kenwood. So now instead of having 2 dominant teams there are 3 above average teams. Also, the downsizing at Ft Campbell has to have had an impact. In Dickson, Creekwood has most of the basketball talent right now but I don't think it was open when Primm and company were there. Not sure what Henry Co's issue is but I would guess it is football related. I think its a numbers issue.

The Jamboree last night, it looked as if the Clarksville High team is the best to me, Clarksville Academy looked solid, I just did not see the Rossview dominance that people have spoke about, two weeks in and I think District 10AAA finishes
1.Clarksville,
2,Kenwood,
3.Henry County
4.Rossview
5. Northwest
6.Springfield
7. Northeast
8. West Creek
Did you actually watch the games? Because if you did then you would know that Clarksville and West Creek (who you have #1 & #8) tied. I'm curious how that you figure Clarksville is the best team if they tied with the worst team, in your opinion? Rossview dominated Montgomery Central, which Jimmy Young has said is maybe his best team in 20 years, when their first group was in. They were up 11-2 when Coach Jackson subbed his 2nd unit. Also, the 6'8 transfer for Rossview didn't even play. Maybe you didn't see the Rossview dominance on Thursday but keep watching, it's coming! Northeast didn't play it's varsity guys at all. So they could be 7th or they could be #1. We'll have to wait and see.
And by the way, I don't put any stock in a jamboree anyway because most coaches are playing very basic and not running most of their stuff. But I watched the games the other night and those rankings from the CHS guy pretending to be a HC fan make no sense at all based on what I saw. I did not stay for Northwest/Kenwood but I would imagine they are pretty even from a talent standpoint. Anyone else watch that game?

What part of the state are you in?
-
They do but I think that conversation is happening on Twitter. Haha! Obviously I'm a bit biased but I think Rossview keeps the Warfield Shield for another year. We've won the last two meetings, and I think we've played a tougher schedule so far this year. Rivalry games are always fun and this should be a good one! Go Hawks!

I coach girls basketball at Rossview and our administration is very supportive of female athletics, not just basketball. Our female athletic teams have traditionally been very successful in almost every sport. Softball has fallen off the last couple of years but I think they are on the way up now. Girls golf won state last year, basketball went to final four two years ago, tennis and soccer have won district championships in recent years. So I think the coaches and admin at Rossview absolutely care. I wish I could say the same for fans. At least for basketball, our gym doesn't start filling up until the 4th quarter in preparation for the boys game. We have won 20+ games for the past 6-7 years, been to the state tournament, won back to back district titles and still can't get more than a hundred or so people to show up at our games. It's pretty frustrating but I'm not sure what you do about it.

Rossview played a good East Nashville team last Friday and really surprised me with their play. Hawks looked undersized compared to EN but seemed to hold their ground. I personally didn't expect to see much of a running game from R but the line seemed to get it done. If Rossview gets a win this coming Friday, they will be back on the map!
I also was surprised by how well Rossview moved the ball on the ground and controlled the clock. The transfer QB also showed a nice arm on several throws including a 40 yd dime for a td. Defense needs some work but was opportunistic, forcing several turnovers. As poppop said, Rossview is young but they have talent at every position. I think this will be a close game. I'll say Rossview 23 Beech 20. I promise it won't be 49-0!

Rossview High School will be hosting a two day team camp June 4-5. Teams committed are Houston Co, Hendersonville, Brentwood, Overton, Clarksville, Kenwood, Northwest, Northeast, White House Heritage, White House, Pearl Cohn, Todd Co, White House, and Merrol Hyde. I'll post the schedule early next week.

The Region 5-AAA semifinals will be held at Rossview HS in Clarksville unless it is a sweep by District 9-AAA tonight. If all 9-AAA teams were to win tonight, the site would be at Mt Juliet HS since they were the tournament champions. Good luck to all teams! Go Hawks!
