  1. Ill base this off head to head and common opponents. Sometimes speculating on common opponents is not accurate due to contrasting styles but if there are multiple common opponents you can get a better picture. Ive gone back on track based on the last couple of seasons. 106- Hicks... But this would be a great match.. Hicks has an early season win here but Simpson has vastly improved over the season. 113- Navaro... But this would be another great match. he has a 1 pt victory early in the season but had a loss to Elkins by 4 and Eason beat Elkins in the finals. Eason has improved like the rest of Father Ryan probably due to level of opponents. 120- Mullin has the head to head victory and that has to be respected but Chalifoux has been battle tested all year in very tough matches. If I was forced to pick a winner I would go with Chalifoux with the level of competition hes faced I think he can win the tougher matches. 126- Most would go with Fuller here but I think Simpson would win it. I couldn't find a head to head but Simpsons victories over common opponents was more convincing. 132- You have to go with Debien here but.. I think King would give him a better match than most realize. I would like to see Debien face some tougher competition to see how he stacks up . The only tough kid we have seen him face has been Oliver and Oliver dominated in those wins if Im not mistaken. 138- Everyone goes with Murphy here but I think Ezra Taylor would give him a close match and possibly win. Murphy has had close matches and 1 loss to King and an overtime win to Dendy. Stronger kids are able to counter his technique and Ezra would be by far the strongest and most explosive kid hes faced. 145- Wesnofske- has head to head victory and has faced much tougher competition but Mullin would give him a good match. 152- Not sure about head to head here . I don't think this weight was that weak as some suggested. Patton and runner up Morrice ( who most would hands down say is better out of DII) were at 160 earlier in the year. The 152 runner up from Brentwood was a 1 loss Champion last year with the only loss being to Sutherland. Patton has a punchers chance but I would go with Binns. 160- Sutherland- Couldn't find a head to head but common opponents aren't even close. Garrison had an overtime win over Pattton ( tied at 9) and Sutherland has had him about 50-0 before he has pinned him and teched him the last 2 years. Also many close wins by Garrison over kids Sutherland has beaten badly usually by pin or tech. 170- Kennedy- Kennedy doesn't get the credit he deserves and that's mostly due to lack of quality opponents but he does well on the national level and always has. Would like to see the match with him and Seagraves to give us a better perspective on both of them. 182- Soloman- very weak weight across the board this year. would like to see a Soloman vs Kennedy and Seagraves match. Soloman isn't a very big 182 at all, he probably just doesn't cut any weight because he doesn't have to. I watched him and Sutherland last year at a practice at Utc and they went toe to toe from what I saw. 195- Parker hands down 220- Filbey or Stacey.. Split during season.. toss up Hwt- Evans but Boykin has a punchers chance with his throws

    4-Timers

Yes Keller was 119,125,130 and 135. Nobody has ever started in the middle above 138. It's even harder now that they did away with a weight in the middle. Although with all the different divisions it will happen I'm soon I'm sure. There are a lot of variables that have to be in place. If it was all together that list would only be a few kids.

    4-Timers

That doesn't happen or hasn't happened yet. Most came in as 106 or 113 lbers with the exception of Tj Duncan. Ryan Parker will be the first. It will be rare when someone starts 138-160 and wins 4.
  4. you get the honor of being called Champion until next year !
  5. The results are tallied. In AAA the weights most missed were 120,152,220,126. Some people were very close on their predictions. In DII there were more upsets or bad picks (depending on how you look at it). The most missed were 113, 182 with Baylor not wrestling, 152, 145 and 220. AAA The winner truly lives up to his name! The last place person just happens to be the one who thinks he knows the most !! lol 1. Mat Wiz 100 pts 2. Lights out wrestler 99 pts 3.Chattwrestle 98 pts 4.Westernwrestler 97 pts 4. wrestlinggeek 97 pts 5 Rgiii 95 pts 6. Baller 93 pts 7. Boro Ref 92 pts 7. 6. It looks like almost everybody's top 5 won. I'll tally the points
  7. What a tournament ! Father Ryan won some huge matches to secure a victory. Wesnoske over Powell, Simpson over Westbrooks, if they lost either one of those they probably don't win. Also Stacey over Roberts in the semis. Baylor needed some help from some other teams but Father Ryan wouldn't be denied. Huge finals wins by Eason and Stacey plus the ones they were favored in. Father Ryan's 182 for wrestling up a weight and wrestling hurt was invaluable . Hats off to Baylor for battling back and making it close. They won every one of their conso semi matches to regain the lead. Their 182 not being able to wrestle was the deciding factor. The 138 Murphy vs Dendy match and 152 Morrice vs Patton matches were incredible. You hate to see a kid lose on stalling points and a head throw at the buzzer but on the other hand it's exciting to see the other wrestler keep battling and not give up . Such a bitter sweet sport. There were some huge wins and a lot of emotions shown. The tight team race only added to the atmosphere. I was glad to see the refs didn't hit anyone for team points for showing their emotions.
  8. What? You don't even make sense. " The late season showdown raised plenty of eyebrows"?
  9. It's Father Ryan's to lose with Holloway not wrestling. Huge blow to Baylor
  10. Well wouldn't you know it!!! The boss has called me in to work tomorrow after telling me I could have off. Does anybody know if the matches are streamed online tomorrow or for the Finals
  11. The top 4-5 are heavily favored but after that there are going to be some great matches.
  12. I hope the tournament goes great and its an experience to remember for everyone. Some will achieve their dreams and some will be heartbroken and we as fans will get to witness it all. That being said I have a couple of things I hope happen. 1. Referee's please, please do not make the match about you. I know you have a hard , thankless job but please don't decide the outcomes of matches unless you have to.There are a couple of refs that continually insert themselves into the outcome of matches. Im not talking about takedown and back point calls but stalking. There are two refs in particular that everyone knows you are going to call someone for stalling, please do not do this unless it truly is stalling. I witnessed one at the Chattanooga D II regionals that called someone for stalling in almost every match . All of the fans would grumble every time he walked on the mat. If a kid is trying to break down his opponent and hes working towards that then you have to give some leeway to coming off the hips, if a top man is putting both legs in and breaking down his opponent and running a power half sometimes that bottom man can not build up. A lot of times its the top man that is stalling when hes not turning his guy or coming off the hips or trying to go to another move. If the bottom man stands up and gets wrist control of the top man and just holds his wrists its not necessarily stalling on the top man if he cant mat return him immediately. A lot of these kids are drawing stalling calls with this particular ref intentionally because they know he will call it. Sprawling is not stalling! Pushing a guy out of bounds with no attempts to score is not wrestling and that wrestler shouldn't be awarded points for his opponent stalling. 2. We all know the Cow Palace isn't the best place to hold this tournament but that's where it is. Please make it as memorable as possible for everyone involved. A few little things that will help the fans. Please do not put the scorers table on the side of the mats for the finals, the fans cant see and the parents cant film. Please put the scorers table and clocks in between the mats or if they have to be at the side for some unknown reason please back them further away from the mats. Please have separate announcers for the streaming on the internet for the different divisions. Please have the pre-finals introductions a little better organized. each division should go to the mat across from their opponents after meeting in the middle and being announced. Good luck to all
  13. Pick the one you are most sure of in descending order. You get 14 points if your first choice is correct 13 for second and so on. I will add them up after the state. 14. Seagraves 170 13. 14. New twist on predictions. List your pick that you are most sure of in descending order. You get 14 pts if your first choice is correct, 13 for your second choice and so on. I will tally all the points after the state. My predictions are as follows. 14. Debien - Cleveand 132 13. Soloman- Maryville 182 12. Kennedy - Riverdale 170 11. Navaro- Bradley 113 10. 15. Cleveland loses too much this year to repeat next year. It will be a few years before the higher calling ( Boskens kids make an impact) . If Im not mistaken this phenomenal group of seniors were coached by Phillips in middle school and Hatcher in kids club? Im not sure when Bosken took over exactly but Im positive Phillips was their middle school coach. The freshman probably came through Boskens program and maybe the sophmores had him in middle school for a year or two ? I think it will be Bradleys to lose next year and I think we will see a continued rise of some of the Nashville teams. I see Cleveland going on a big run starting in 2-3 years.
  16. What are your choices for team and individual champions? Like the AAA division this years DII will be extremely close but it will be between 2 teams. Baylor has won everything this year but its by the narrowest of margins. The brackets will be a huge determining factor. I will post my predictions after seeing the brackets.
  17. Here we are at the end of the season. Its shaping up to be one of the closest team races in many years. What are your top 5 team predictions and predictions for each weight class? Team Predictions: I think any of these three teams can win it this year as evidenced by the last few weeks. Its so close this year that the seeds may be the determining factor. I may redo this after I see the brackets. 1. Cleveland 2. Bradley 3. Wilson Central
  18. Excellent post, I for one appreciate feedback from officials. I agree with your synopsis of those matches. At the 113, contrary to some opionions by others I thought the Baylor kid was wrestling. Yes, he was trying to not get pinned but he was also trying to score. Even at 106 I thought the Baylor kid was wrestling for the most part. The Fr Ryan kid was all over him and the Baylor kid didn't have time to mount any offense. At 126 I didn't think their was stalling enough to be called. I don't remember stalling being called in that match but I may have missed it. I know both teams were trying to win that match. My comments about stalling being called and not called were not in regards to the matches you officiated. I'm not sure who the official was, I thought he was from Nashville. Other than his matches I felt the officiating was very good
  19. I feel you on that one. Let the kids decide the match unless it was blatant and obvious. That was my point about the one ref in the d2 match, he called stalling when it shouldn't have been and then let it slide when it was obvious. I thought the other refs called it like it should have been and let the kids decide it on the mat. I missed the end of Kramers match, what happened in it? I looked back and they were raising the Cleveland wrestlers hand. Did they call stalling in overtime or was I misinformed.
  20. Oh no doubt, both teams had matches where their goal was to not get pinned. The one ref in question called stalling on a Baylor kid multiple times for sprawling though. He wasn't backing up or running and had taken two shots of his own prior to that. I don't remember what weight it was. Then the next match I watched was 160 and clearly the Father Ryan was trying to not get pinned but the same ref didn't even warn the Father Ryan wrestler and he didn't even attempt an offensive move . Then in another match he gave a warning and a point in the first period in Father Ryan's favor and it was the same thing, sprawling is not the same as stalling or backing up. Then in one of the heavier matches, I think it was 220, the Baylor wrestler had under hooks and the Farher Ryan wrestler backed up out of bounds while blocking wth his head three times in a row. A couple of other refs I spoke with seemed like they thought he was a little biased. I didn't see all of the matches as I was caught up in the Cleveland vs Wc match so it may have been just a coincidence those were the ones I watched. Overall I thought the officiating was pretty good and the tournament was ran well.
  21. Wow!! What a night of wrestling. I was on the edge of my seat watching the Aaa and D2 matches. I wanted to watch the Aa match but there was just too much excitement ..
  22. Father Ryan vs Baylor is a barn burner. 17-15 Baylor at 182. Baylor avoided giving up some bigger bonus against father Ryan's studs and so did father Ryan. The Nashville ref on that mat needs to call it both ways . He called stalking on Baylor for sprawling twice but let father Ryan lay on the mat not even trying to wrestle at 160. Cleveland vs Wilson central 23-21 at 285. Cleveland beat Kramer in overtime at 220.
  23. This announcer needs to watch other mats besides mat 1 or 2. Announce the big match ups, state champs ect..
