  1. Need 1 team for Friday Night Triple Play

    We have a new opening for a team to complete our Friday Night Triple Play event on April 26. As of now the teams are:

    • Heritage High School (host)
    • Walker Valley High School

    There is no fee and we supply all game balls and pay for the umpires. Games are 2-hours finish the inning with mercy rules applying. This particular event will be a Go Red For Women event, benefitting the American Heart Association. Contact coach Jeff Sherman at 865-659-1976 or jeff.sherman@blountk12.org

    I am not really for a pitch count, but I do fear that this logic is flawed to some degree. The "natural motion" argument, although correct, doesn't account for "unnatural force" placed on the shoulder, elbow, etc. Coaches should pay more attention to pitch counts for kids and not overuse them. However, time off is also something that many softball pitchers do not get. In a calendar year a pitcher will go from high school (in Tennessee) preseason/practices/games to summer travel ball to fall travel ball all while still taking "lessons". Therein lies the problem.

  12. Need a Team for Play Day Feb. 26

    Heritage High School in Maryville needs a team for our play day on February 26 due to a cancellation. Cost is $150 for 4 games / 60 minute drop dead. Games are at local HS fields. Other teams participating are:

    Heritage

    King's Academy

    Fulton

    Union County

    Grace Christian Academy

    Sweetwater

    Alcoa

    Hardin Valley

    Rhea County

    Seymour

    Northview

    Clinton

    Greenback

    William Blount

    Sequoyah

  14. Third team needed next Friday

    Heritage High School needs a team to participate in a Friday Night Triple Play event on April 30th.  The other team playing is Carter High School and our third team dropped on us.  Format is each team plays the other two with games at 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00.  This is not a tournament and there is no entry fee.  Heritage High School supplies all the game balls and pays the umpires, so your team just shows up and plays.  Full concessions are available and teams have access to our hitting area.  Games are 7 innings or two hours.  Teams that have participated this season are:

    • Farragut 
    • Grace Christian
    • Karns
    • Sequoyah
    • Anderson County
    • Rhea County
    • Jefferson County

  19. Needing teams for Friday night events

    Heritage High School is needing teams to participate in Friday Night Triple Play events on April 9 and April 30.  Games are 7 innings or 2 hours and there is no fee to play.  Heritage provides game balls and pays for umpires. Teams participating in the past and this year include: Union County, Sweetwater, Alcoa, Kingston, Anderson County, Farragut, Grace Christian, Sequoyah, Karns, Jefferson County.  The dates needed are wide open so far this season.  Contact coach Jeff Sherman for more information at 865-984-8110 or email at jeff.sherman@blountk12.org.

  20. How to finish the season...if allowed...

    Almost now way for our district to play everybody once at this point - too many teams (8).  However, most have played at least 1 game, if not 2.  Having that info plus tie-breakers in place, seeding could be accomplished to have district tournament very similar to what would have been.  Playing all opponents once would be the best scenario, but that just won't be the case this year.  

    Could maybe take a few days and play a round robin tournament to determine teams for the region, but larger districts would be playing a lot of games in a row.  

  23. Need a team to play Friday, March 20

    Due to a team canceling, Heritage High School needs a team to help complete a three team field this Friday.  Teams play each other with no entry fee and HHS supplies all the game ball and pays umpires.  There is a $6.00 price for tickets for admission for fans.  Games start at 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00 with a 2 hour time limit.  Please respond here or contact coach Jeff Sherman at 865-659-1976.
