Marion has a very good nucleus of players. Only one senior on the team I believe, mostly sophomores and juniors. Should be a great game Thursday in Jasper versus the Whitwell Lady Tigers.

South Pittsburg Lady Pirates are 10-0. Should be a great game Friday with Whitwell.

Did SP really lose to Sale Creek 10 to 0?

Once again the Times Free Press is lazy about gaining information at the Summit tournament this weekend . Mt. Juliet won 2 games Friday night beating Sequoyah 11-0 and Sale Creek 10-0 before letting the freshman team play Farragut on Saturday morning. I was very impressed with the Mt. Juliet (varsity) pitcher and hitters. I would have been surprised if any of the teams in this tournament could have beat their (varsity) team . It would have been nice to see a Baylor vs Mt. Juliet or Soddy Daisy vs Mt. Juliet game before the tournament got rained out.

Not sure where they had their heads this weekend considering I saw several of their reporters running around and all the final scores were clearly marked on the pool play brackets.

Per the Times Free Press online article, Baylor is the only team with 2 wins in the tournament at the Summit.

Whitwell also has 2 wins, they beat Central 6 to 0 and beat Jefferson County 6 to 1.

Whitwell won 3 to 2 against Cumberland County and 14 to 1 against Livingston Academy in their first two pool games in the Gordonsville Tournament in Cookeville.

Whitwell beat Marion 4 to 2. Whitwell moves to 3-0 in District 6A.

Whitwell finished 3rd in the state last year and only lost 2 seniors. They also picked up some talented freshman including a pitcher that would be a starter on most teams in the area. Sale Creek got drilled by Silverdale tonight so Whitwell should be on top of 6A.
