  1. Barney I had to start one. I find myself trolling, as the kids call it, on West High and Oak Ridge threads. My kids and grandkids were in track at HVA but I'm from central Texas. My mother in 1955 loved a good steak, a man in uniform, wrestling, and high school football!

  2. Thank you SS. I'm getting the 10.55 will be neat in next 2 years. I'm a track fan and if the Graham kid stays healthy and grows a little and gets stronger with just age he will push it. He's fast. Looking at some of athletes out of Nashville and Memphis...wow.

  3. SS I seem to see that. I feel bad about posting on your site and other area schools. I am a HVA grandparent. I lived in Oak Ridge in 70s -early 90s. So I guess I'm a fan too. Since retiring and moving back to Tennessee our grand babies all attended HVA.

  4. I keep hearing about the excitement with football program this year. How do you think the Hardin Valley Hawks will be this year? (Help me stay off other teams threads. My granddaughter will be a senior at HVA. So should be my team)

  5. Can tell you Oak Ridge guys this. The Graham kid is as fast as he wants to be. OR was back close to last, the 3rd leg (don't know his name mid-eastern looking kid.. I think he plays football too) made some ground but Graham got it and everyone around me were saying who is that. He caught up to finish 2nd or 3rd. I'm betting he had one of the fastest splits yesterday in any heat. Don't know what Short kid ran as a freshman but Graham has to be close and I think he's a more natural football player than Short. Yes you guys will score quick.

  6. LOL Runswithknife. He was probably trying to catch up with Bama's guys to get a smoke. Let me know how the scrimmage turns out.  Look forward to hearing how Tee, the Jackson kid and Graham do in the scrimmage. Are the two QBs that played last year both gone?

  7. I went to the sectional track meet in Johnson City yesterday and I have to tell you that you have something special in Graham. His 4x100 relay qualified for the state meet and he was good in that, but he was even better in the 200 meters, where he finished 5th. His time of 22.87 is unbelievable for a freshman and he was only .o5 from qualifying for the state individually. He looks faster to me now than he looked earlier in the season and much faster than last fall. OR really has something to look forward to in fall with him.

I was there too watching our HVA girls (very good team). Graham is very fast.  He stumbled  the last 20 meters or so in 200 and possibly could have finished 2nd and maybe even caught the leader. He was smoking inthe 4x100.  The stronger he gets and the more he grows could be a very good track guy.  Morristown West has a lot of speed.  The may win the the team title in boys and girls.

  8. I would bet Jackson and Graham will not be at spring. They both run track.  I'm pretty sure Graham will make it to at least the sectional n several events. I think Jackson is on the relay team with him. I remember someone said earlier they had a fast relay team with those two guys on it.  I know Graham is OR 100 meter and 200 meter guy and the anchor on both relays.  Was at AC at a meet a couple of weeks ago and they won the 4x100 and 4x200.

  9. Defensively Clinton should be pretty good. Losing their OC one year and then Thackerson the next (who knew the system better than the other coaches) may cause them to do some things a little different offensively.

In regards to OR, I sense a bit of quiet confidence.  I also hear you guys have the who's who in college coaches at your practices everyday.  HVA had a coach come by from smaller college that went to Oak Ridge practice the day before and said he had to wait behind Texas A&M to talk to a coach.

Are there two Jackson kids? I remember one Jackson kid played pretty much the whole year at RB on the other side of Graham.  Jackson dad is a great guy. If Tre gets his size watch out.  A major college LB or DB.

  10. I was online and The Opening has him listed #11 and #84 which is fantastic but I didn't see where he's #1. Where did you see that? He's #1 in my book though!!!

The nation’s No. 1 wide receiver prospect performed like the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver on Sunday at The Opening regional in Charlotte.

  11. Just heard Tee Higgins is #1 WR in the nation.  As far as Big Blue and FSU, they run Pro Offenses. Trying not to put the cart before the horse on a 16-17 year old kid but the coaches there have NFL insight and contacts. I would say Clemson is starting to get that too. But I know FSU and Michigan (Harbaugh) does. Maybe it means nothing to Mr. Higgins but I see why the consideration.  Also seen that he made the Nike Open for the top of the top players in the nation. Congrats  to Tee and Amari Rodgers. Really looks good for East Tennessee football.

  12. I've been to track meets and talk to some OR players and from what I hear is there is a quiet excitement about the positions you are questioning. Their kids seem very confident. When HVA was there they guys came out of workout and they "look" good. I thought they wouldn't have any size but I seen some good size kids. Maybe can't play a lick but the look is good.

West High will have another year under their belt with new coach.  It always gets better with time.

  13. Had to laugh at "when in doubt Tee's always open". Seemingly true. Very special talent. Region 2 will have a lot of parity.  I would expect West but some of you guys made some good points. Football fans may get into watching how this region pans out.  Heritage was impressive and Halls steadily improved.  Powell new coach has a lot of expectations put on him but must keep his borders closed.  With Halls competing may get harder and harder. Campbell County is the spoiler but Oak Ridge is getting that speed back the way it used to be. Graham is fast whether he's a freshman or not he's real fast. Seen him twice at track meets (Hardin Valley invitation and vs. Hardin Valley at Oak Ridge. The Jackson kid is fast too and there was another kid that could run.  Wish  Mr. Higgins ran track. I bet he could be a great hurdler and high jump, long jump guy.

  14. Good point.  For some reason I want to go to see Hardin Valley week 1.  I don't know why my neighbors are so optimistic about them (HVA) this year but they are.  I hear they (HVA) have a few transfers that will make an immediate impact. But I hope the atmosphere (ORHS vs. CHS) was like it was the first year Gaddis came back.  It was electrifying and that was after Oak Ridge came off a loss.

  15. I hope they get it fixed. They play Oak Ridge 1st game and I really wanted to see OR defense vs the QB at Clinton. He's one of my favorite players to watch. I kind of want to pull for the underdog but if they can't score it will get ugly vs Oak Ridge. They are running an offense that is difficult to defend w/o throwing the ball but OR will be able to throw with a 6'4 and 6'6 WR. I've been hearing that Middleton has gotten some of his speed and receiver skills back at these touch football leagues. Higgins... I need not say anything.
