  1. Well, with Christmas approaching, here's a rundown (and my ranking) of District 4AAA girls based on the observations I've had in head-to-head play versus William Blount.

    1.  Farragut - *has not played WB, but after a slow start, the Lady Admirals seem to be gathering steam.  Quality wins over Maryville, Heritage, and Hardin Valley.

    2.  Maryville - impressive win over WB last evening.  Dominated pretty much every phase of the game.  Great upside because they are so young.

    3.  (tie)  Bearden - WB gave them a great game, losing by 4.  Very athletic and they may have a little more depth than Heritage.

    3. (tie)  Heritage - Knocked off WB in overtime.  Great senior leadership on this team.  Always well-coached and ready to play.

    4.  William Blount -- exciting / frantic to watch.  Living and dying by the three-point shot.  I thought last night versus Maryville was their poorest performance of the season.  One thing I love though is that they kept playing till the end.  Just seemed like the threes wouldn't fall.  I'm excited about the future because our team is so young and they have shown they are capable of competing with good teams.  Gonna have to start getting to the basket--lay-ups and getting to the foul line.

    5.  Hardin Valley - quality team I think, but with losses to WB, Faragut, and HV, this is as high as I could rank them.

6 & 7.  Don't know much yet about Lenoir City nor West.   Lenoir City has more wins, but I did note that West played Heritage a really tight game (3 points I believe at the end).

Second half of the season should be fun!

  2. I recently was at the Bradley County / McMinn County basketball game and saw the new Bradley gym floor. It is different with the floor being BLACK except for inside the 3 point arch.

What is odd is all of the different lines on the floor. Its obvious there are volley ball court lines, a half court line for basketball, and other lines that I have no idea what they are for. It looks like a hop scotch court.

At one point one of the officials was struggling with making a back court call because there were so many lines on the court around the half court area. Bradley has a nice gym and a proud tradition but way to many lines on the court.

Is this an issue at other gyms?

  3. Order for next year is wide open

Bearden graduates a great senior class but returns an experienced unit and a 6'1" post.

Farragut graduates more true starters than Bearden retains good point guards, new post, and matches up with Bearden.

Herritage looks good good wings posts no guard? Did she graduate?

Hardin Valley good post guard lose scoring

    Maryville needs to recruit...

    Lenoir city...beats West?

  4. I Agree and I think Hardin Valley only graduates 1 starter, so they could move into that 4 spot. District 3 graduates alot of their better players (Powell, Anderson County, and Halls) so it should be a district 4 sweep again next year. Tomorrow, Maryville beats Farragut, and Friday Maryville beats Jeff. Co. and Farragut beats Morristown West. Good luck district 4.
