  1. Does anyone know anything about this guy. How much experience does he have. Can't be much. He is 24 or 25 I think. Amazed this is where they ended up. Maybe it will work out but I am shocked.

  2. Just amazed. How can this take so long? Is there any way that the candidates are so bad they can't find someone or are they being turned down by everyone? Just can't imagine how a program that has been so good could be so hard to fill.

Sorry didn't mean to imply that from your post. Earlier posts mentioned no jobs so tough to find a coach outside.

Gotcha. No worries. I hope all works out. Just not sure I like hiring coaches then sticking them in to special ed spots.

  4. Yes there are more teaching jobs. The post I was referring to said teaching assistant. Those are generally special education jobs. If he is certified then that is great. I was simply commenting on the post above mine.

  5. So does he have any experience being a ta? I assume this is a special education position because high schools do not really have regular education ta's i don't think. They are just going to create a spot in an area that is hard to work in for a guy that may not really want to eork in that area so he can be the coach? Again does not sound like good school leadership to me. However if he is interested in and does have a passion for special education kids then that is awesome.

  6. It is apparent that there are issues at Powell. How does a program that has been that good take this long to hire a coach. The answer is poor administration. This is the best example I have ever seen when it comes to screwing up a coaching srarch. I hope for their sake it does not hurt their program. This has just been a disaster.

  7. A lot of times if a teacher has an active Tn teachers license, even if it's not the right grade level or subject, Knox County will give that teacher a waiver that allows him to take the classes necessary to get certified and earn the right endorsement.  That's most like the case with Rosser at Cental.  It happens quite often with teachers, not just coaches.

That is true for a subject area but the county cannot give a waver on this because it is the states guideline. If he were certified in something with a high school endorsement then this would work but he is not. He does not have the required college credits to teach at a high school. The state will not allow him. Central has hired him to work with the other grad coach in some capacity which the county has never done to my knowledge. I was really just noting that this was very unusual for someone without a high school endorsement on his license or a counselor certification holding a position at a high school in the guidance department.

  8. The man is either not certified to teach the subject or not certified to teach HS, there is a difference, get your facts straight, I spoke to someone very close to the situation yesterday and I posted from what he told me period. I was just trying to add to the conversation as in reality it makes a hill of beans to me who gets the job other then the Halls Powell rivalry, I do wish the best on the coach they get because the kids and community deserve way better then they have had.

My facts are straight. It is simple to look up his certification on the Tennessee department of education website. A K-12 certification will allow him to teach special education at the high school level. He has a K-12 Certification. I was not trying to insult you just pointing out the information you reported was not correct. I am not sure who your source is but they were wrong. Don't direct your anger at me. I was also just adding to the conversation on here as well. You also do not know what subject because staffing for high schools will not e done until the end of the school year. They currently do not know what subjects they will have open. If he was their choice they would be able to get him in. Those are my facts sand they are straight.

  9. The last guy who was hired was a winged-t guy, and that's didn't go over well at all from the get go.

Of course, he compounded the problem with other actions, but the winged-t was a real issue early on.  I just don't see Powell hiring another winged-t guy this time around.  I think the powers that be learned something from that.

I agree with you as i posted but the community holds some of the blame here at least for some of the problem. I attended every game and heard what the community at large and specifically some parents said to each other and to the players during and after games. This guy was not a good fit here and did not seem to be a good football coach at least on this level but he did not have a shot. I cannot speak to the things that happened in the off season and the things that went on in the pre season. I can tell you that I heard over and over again that this guy wanted total control over the program. This was stated as a complaint. He should have control, it was his program. I also heard a lot of people complaining that he was changing things that Matt Lowe did and that was a problem. Well Matt left for a situation that he feels is better and I cannot blame him for that but this community needs to understand that each coach has his own system and procedures. The only way that the team can succeed is for the community to get over the loss of Matt and get behind the next head coach no matter who he is. DO not expect that person t do things the way they were doe. Embrace the change and get the program back where it should be.

  10. He hasn't applied for the job, and that's no rumor.

I do not see him ever applying. Do you think anyone around Powell would be happy hiring a guy that runs the wing-t? There would be an explosion around there.

I do not think this hire will be sexy. The community needs to understand that this job is just not that desirable right now. The interest for this job will either be from coaches looking to get a second chance at a head job or a coordinator looking for any opportunity to get a head job.

  11. Rosser has been able to get some of the really good athletes who were playing other sports only or who weren't playing any sports at all out for football this year.  It's been a while since that has happened at Central.  I really like him a lot.  Central could be one of the most improved programs in the area this season, in my opinion.

    Which athletes are those HTV?

  12. So the New coach and AD let all but two staff members go. This may seem to be a good idea but it does not seem that they can fill the staff. There are currently 3 assistants (2 hold overs) and one new guy on staff. Does this seem like it could be a problem for them? Were there not any other serviceable members of the old staff? We know how hard it can be to get coaches in to knox county and I doubt many guys are going to leave their current schools to go there. What is the deal?
