  1. I am about as big of a Cyclone homer as there is, but I would have waited until after the game to read the list of accomplishments, if at all.  I think GP used that as motivation, which I would have done as a coach.  Elizabethton's post game celebration with the student body was understandable after a close and exciting win.  I did not think it was excessive and I did not understand why GP did not wait to shake hands.  Hines did all she could until fouling out late to win the game.  Pittman is a very good team and is to be commended for their heart and talent.  Melenda Perry was huge early for Elizabethton. The Marosite twins came up huge in the final minute and the Lady Cyclones move on to the Boro. Go Cyclones!

i wasnt there but wow!!!!!  so betsy can celebrate with their student body after a close, big win and GP is suppose to stand there after a tuff, hard fought loss and wait on the great betsy to get finished doing whatever they are doing to shake hands....    and everybody on the cyclones side is ok with this. NOT RIGHT

  2. Wow! Very good point!

Not a single person has mentioned Lea Lea Carter from Dickson co.... USA basketball gold medalist under 16 last summer, averaging double double, top team in a very good district, Vanderbilt commit!!!!

got to watch her in the championship game against gatlinburg pittman in their christmas tourney and your right!  she is the real deal

  3. In AA, Gatlinburg-Pittman senior, Haris Price, has recorded triple-doubles in past two games (3rd of year).

In win at Fulton - 25 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists

Win vs. Carter - 14 points, 12 steals, and 10 assists

On the year she is averaging 18.3 PPG, 7.1 APG, 6 SPG, 4.5 RPG

She is such an exciting point guard to watch!!  She is a Lee University signee and should definitely be considered for Double AA Miss Basketball!!!

  4. Any team that makes it to the state finals and returns most of its pieces should be a favorite to repeat in the Region.  CAK was without both of their post players in the jamboree but could be playing short handed all year.  Naler should return this week but word is Hooper is out until mid-December and Bryant, who is a very underrated piece of that team, could be out for the year.  Fulton and CAK should still be frontrunners to play in the sub-state again this year.

i wouldnt count out gatlinburg pittman.  they have a very talented team.  we will see in the next two weeks what these teams have because G P plays both cak and fulton soon.

  5. i am so excited for this year! the team that cak will put on the court will be special and if im not mistaken they will get gatlinburg pittman twice this year as well as their tough "night in- night out" 4aa schedule. looking forward to 3-aa and 4-aa region match-ups already.   gonna be a great year in girls bball

  6. Being from east tn, i am real familiar with gatlinburg, fulton, grainger, cak, elizabethton........but not so much with west or middle (except i know that 8aa is loaded). can someone tell me if its possible that 8aa can sweep the first round of the regionals?? even murfreesboro central magnet??

  7. region 2 should be great basketball! Fulton has a great young team and pulled out a close overtime win with gatlinburg-pittman in their district championship. Cak pulled off a last second win with alcoa (scoring 5 points in the last 3 seconds) in their district championship. If things go the way they should, those four teams will battle in the semi s.  i am Looking forward to the Gatlinburg-Pittman vs. Cak match-up!!!  Good luck to all

Hooper is not joining the team. She has been on the roster all year long with an open invitation to come play at anytime durning the season. Last year this girl played highschool Basketball and Club volleyball at the same time. Three days a week she would go to basketball practice untill around 5 oclock and then go to Volleyball practice untill 9:30 pm and then go home and start her home work. by the time the state tournament came around she was phyisiclly exhausted. With in a three weeks period she played in districts, regionals, substate, the state tournament and particapated in three volleyball tournaments. She was going to do the same thing this year but with the way the club volleyball practices and tournament schedules were set up and with the home work load that the Jr class has it would have been too much for her this year. Even though nobody out there will ever belive it, she worked out the scheduling to help her best friend and teamates with a run to the tournament. I am sure that several schools in different sports all over the state allow players from their JV squads to particitpate in tournament play to add depth to there bench. im sure that players have been added mid season that have been playing other sports and nothing has been mentioned. This is the same case here. As i have said in previous post, adding an eligible player to the roster for depth is not issue here. It happens all the time. The issue that everybody is complaining about is the player they are adding.. Because Hooper is 6'6" and is a huge game changer is the reason everybody is screaming foul. Ask yourself, if Grainger County added a 5'8" soccer player to the bench right now to help with depth who had been playing soccer up untill this point and was ready to join the team. Would people be complaining? If a 5'8" girl transfered to Gatlanburg Pittman and her 1 year period of ineligibility ended right before the tournament and she was added to the roster, would that raise a stink? I dont think so. Hooper just happens to be a very tall high profile player and everybody is mad because they will have to possibly go thru her now to get to the state tournament. What CAK is doing in not illegal or unethical. Its the player in question that is causing the uproar. It is not fair to her if she is not allowed to play. I bet the players for GC and GP arent as worried about it a the parents and coaches are. They are competitors and probably believe thay can beat CAK with or without Hooper on the team.

you can defend this however you want but dont speak of grainger county or gatlinburg pittman as if they would do something like this because they haven't

As I understand it the team held a meeting and voted unanimously to let her play. She has some great friends on that team that she has played with since they were 7 years old. Including her best friend. I also heard that she approached the coach about it and not the other way around.

im not buying it either  sounds a whole lot about personal gain      good luck to all moving forward in the tournaments
