  1. Do that many people really think Zane Williams beats Dendy? Or are there people trying to screw this up. If its the latter, please dont ruin it for others. If its the former, well i am thoroughly surprised that this many people would take Williams in that matchup

I've seen both kids wrestle and I can assure anyone in question that Dendy would dominate that match. The voters must have been sitting on the other side of the gym in Franklin last weekend every time Dendy walked on the mat.
  2. What an incredible showing for Tennessee. Chattanooga had 3 finalist and the 1st champion since Tennessee returned to Prep Nats. Props to all the coaches for squeezing one last week out of their top wrestlers and congrats to all the young men who competed with class all weekend. Reiniche and Whimper looked amazing and Mason came back after a loss last weekend and showed why he is one of the best in Tennessee and maybe even the country in the near future. Whimper is incredible and what a way to finish his highschool career. McCallie had an incredible showing and I wish we could have seen what Dendy could have put together had he not been hurt. He looked awesome Friday. Henry is keeping the TN tradition of stud HW's alive. Once again congrats to all the wrestlers and coaches who made the long bus ride to Lehigh thank you for representing Tennessee on a national level so well!

  3. It's all over in Tennessee. State Champs have been crowned. What were the bigger surprises in Franklin this weekend. Biggest upsets?

    Fowler over Rippy.

Dendy over Reiniche after it ending in a fall just a week before.

    Tony Nelson making the finals.

Conner Duffy a freshman state champ at 160.

Christian Brothers Collapse at the Cow Palace.

The Bears running away with the title over Cleveland.

What do y'all think? It sure was an exciting weekend can't wait to watch it all over again next year!

  4. The only changes id make are

    106 - Horst dec Whitworth

    145- Fuller dec King

    220- Hooker maj Demello

Whitworth would mop the mat with Horst. King would dominate Fuller from what I've heard about them going in the room.

  5. Let's get it going here's my thoughts.

106- Alex Whitworth maj. Noah Horst

113- Tj Hicks maj. Christian Simpson

120- Gabriel Elkin dec. Calvin Martin

126- Jack Shrader dec. Ray Eason

132- Colton Landers dec. Brock Herring

138- Trevor Brown dec. Zackary Wilkens

145- Eli King dec. Knox Fuller

152- Ethan Dendy fall Austin Matthews

160- Matthew Sells fall Conner Duffy

170- Khamari Whimper maj. Colton Mcmahan

182- Judah Duhm maj. Hunter Fortner

195- Andrew Wesnofske dec. Nathan Walling

220- George Hooker dec. Isaiah Demillo

285- Nick Boykin Fall River Henry

  6. King will have his hands full with Wittman. Wittman will coast to the finals. It will be close and both will have to wrestle well to win. Both are great kids and probably know each other well

Wittman has finished 4th the last two years losing to the FRHS kid who Dendy and Murphy both dominated. Eli will score at will and it will not be a close match.
  7. AAA- Boykin, Fuller, Rippy, Sells

A/AA- S. Evans, Heyward, Hutchins, Hux

    D2- King, Dendy, Whimper, Reiniche

Dendy could get it if he dominated. Which I don't see happening. He would be a 4 time finalist and the only wrestler to defeat a returning state champ. He might deserve it but I think King and his career should earn him OW.
  8. IMO Dendy and Reiniche are the best match up in almost the whole state. And I give credit to both kids on staying down a weight when both could have gone up to 60 and had the easiest state bracket in all of the state. Reiniche won the first match by fall, and I expect dendy to come back with a little something to say about that, but I see Reiniche weathering the storm and being in better shape then dendy is to win the match in the third. Dendy to have a chance at winning has to turn on top but I have never seen Reiniche be turned while on bottom against anyone in his high school career both instate and out of state. So I see this being a very tall feet. For Reiniche to win he needs to escape bottom and push the pace on his feet. This should be a very exciting rematch if both wrestlers meet in finals.

He rode for almost a full period. Shape is always an issue with Dendy but in the matches I have seen him wrestle this year it has not been. This one is too close to call in my opinion but a turn is not necessary. The wrestler who gets a takedown wins this match and Dendy was very close last weekend. Both tough on top and bottom both but slightly defensive wrestlers on their feet. Someone will slip up and make a mistake like Dendy did this last weekend and that will cost them the match. There might be a little extra in the line in the team race as well. This is a HUGE match. Can't wait to watch!!
  9. Look, it's hardly worth locking horns over, because the match means nothing, but you said "And Berry was leading Duffy at 160 the entire match."

In actuality, Duffy won the first 4-1, Berry won the second and was up by one, and the 3rd was scoreless when the fall occurred. Both are young wrestles and anything could happen the next time they meet.

I agree. No hard feelings. Simply a miss wording on my part. Both wrestlers are very young and make mistakes but both fun to watch.
  10. You are correct. AZN has a biased red-tinted view point. Pittway has a chance because he is 2-0 vs. the #1 from the west, so that one is not that crazy. Hardline would need a big upset. Dendy can't be counted out... he is tough.

You're wrong on Berry. Were you there? Duffy got a takedown and back points in the first. He was up 4-1 at the end of the first. You just can't make stuff up.

Father Ryan is the faviorte because they have 8 seniors! McCallie has 4?, CBHS 2?, and Baylor `1? FR wins again, but next year has to be a rebuilding year, right?

I was there. Berry led 6-5 going into 3rd. If I remember correctly he had 2 escapes and 2 takedowns. I don't ever "just make stuff up" in any of my posts.
  11. 106- Whitworth (Mccallie) over Pettway(Baylor)

113- Christian Simpson (Ryan) over Herring (CBHS) ** feature match

120- Elkin (MBA) over Ward (mccallie)

126- Eason (Ryan) over Hartline (Baylor)

132- Herring (Mccallie) over Glover (MBA)

138- Trevor Brown(CBHS) over Atchley (Baylor)

145- Eli King (Ryan) over Wittman(MBA)

152- Reiniche(Baylor) over dendy (Mccallie) ** feature match

160- Duffy (Baylor) over Eric Hodge (CBHS)

170- Khamari Whimper (Baylor) Clay (MBA)

182- Duhm(Mccallie) over Riley Westlake (Baylor)

195- Brackett (CBHS) over Wesnofke (Ryan) ** feature match

220- Grayson (CBHS) over Hooker (Ryan)

285- Henry (Mccallie ) over Healy (CBHS) ** feature match

    Baylor- 7 finalist

    Ryan-5 finalist

    CBHS-6 finalist

    Mccallie- 6 finalist

    MBA- 4 finalist

This is very biased towards Baylor. Pettway will have to wrestle extremely well to make it to the finals. Westlake most likely won't make the finals. Hartline definitely won't make the finals. Y'all are already counting Dendy out which is a mistake. And Berry was leading Duffy at 160 the entire match. Baylor will not have 7 finalists. 6 tops. MBA will have 5 or 6. McCallie with 6 or 7. Father Ryan and CBHS with around that number as well. Whoever gets the most 3rd place finishers will win this one. It will be an extremely close team race. Can't wait to see how it all pans out.
  12. Very impressive win for Reiniche. Wouldn't have expected him to pin Dendy.

Agreed. Congrats to Reiniche. What I took away from watching the match was that neither wrestlers opened up in the first period. Very conservative match for both wrestlers there. A scramble early ended with Dendy and some sort of rib injury. Second period was dominated by Dendy on top a stall warning for Reiniche. At the end Dendy got high and got caught on his back. Next weekend will be fun at 152 glad both wrestlers stayed down.
  13. Not sure why I'm the snowflake when the discussion is about athletes who can apparently compete at a high level in an intense atmosphere but cannot then muster the discipline to cross the mat and shake hands with the opposing coach without risking a penalty point!

Again, congrats to the Irish for overcoming both the Blue Wave AND the internal battle each wrestler must have overcome to have been able to cross the mat and shake hands postmatch!

I agree that wrestlers should shake hands after a match it is NOT a rule but simply a sportsmanlike gesture. That being said what is worse a wrestler not shaking hands with a coach or a Father Ryan coach mocking an extremely accomplished wrestler because he didn't get the exact match up he wanted a few weeks ago at Baylor? Grow up and stop attacking these kids and their coaches. Both teams laid it out there one team won and the other team didn't.
  14. 106- Whitworth (McCallie)

    113- Simpson (Ryan)

    120- Elkin (MBA)

    126- Eason (Ryan)

    132- Herring (McCallie)

    138- Brown (CBHS)

    145- King (Ryan)

    152- Dendy (McCallie)

    160- Nicholson (CBHS)

    170- Westlake (Baylor)

    182- Whimper (Baylor)

    195- Wesnofske (Ryan)

    220- Hooker (Ryan)

    285- Henry (McCallie)

    Let the debate begin

  15. D2 has some real studs this year.

106- Alex Whitworth dominates anyone from AAA you put on the mat. State champ hands down if it's one division.

126- Ray Ray is a stud and I don't see him losing at the state tournament. He tends to turn it on in February.

132- Brock Herring is going to be dominant in D2 this year and would be a handful for Mcelhaney and Landers.

138- Trevor Brown is a freak athlete and has incredible strength and pace. Extremely fun to watch.

145- Eli King is just Eli King. Nobody touches him.

152- Dendy dominates through the bracket. He has turned it on this year.

160- Nicholson and Reiniche give Matt Sells all he wants. Nicholson wins here in my opinion.

170- Judah Duhm. Nobody touches him in AAA.

182- Khamari Whimper Tommy Bracket is your finals match.

195- AAA stud Johnson takes this one hands down.

220- Toliver, Walthall, Hooker? Definitely got a finalist in that group maybe a champ.

HW- Boykin is your champ here.

Don't disrespect my boys in D2. There are some real studs. They win at least half the weight classes.
