  1. A Rising New travel ball 9U team is having tryouts on September 16th at 5:30pm. Tryouts will be held at

Goodpasture Christian School softball field. We will be based out of the Goodlettsville/Hendersonville

area with our practices being held at various locations in the area.

Our plan is to play in the Spring of 2016, but depending on how quickly we fill out our roster we could

play this Fall in several tournaments. We currently have several Gold Level Players on our team and are

looking for kids who are wanting to have fun and get prepared for Middle School baseball to fill out our

    roster. Come check us out!

BPA age eligibility is April 30 of the current year. The BPA age eligibility (cut-off date) is defined as the

age participant is (will be) on April 30, 2016.

Please contact Mark at: 615-513-7161, if you have any questions or if you can’t make the tryouts and

want to schedule another time. Thanks!

  2. This is the part I dislike about sports. Parents making excuses for little Johnny and why their team didn't win. I grew up playing baseball in East Tn at a small rural high school. We had to play Webb (in our district) with several D-1 prospects on their team. We never once complained about it being unfair or they were cheaters, etc... We always tried our best and relished playing such a good team.

Fast forward to present time and my kids have the privilege to go to a private school in Nashville. Now do private schools actively recruit? Answer: Not any more than public schools.

My whole problem with the whining is this. You are teaching your kids to make excuses on why they "cant" win or why they aren't any good. To me you should be teaching them how to play your hardest and leave it all on the field. To be a good lose and winner. Not to whine! If little Johnny gets a job interview and is going against someone from a private school for that same job and loses it are you going to complain that it's unfair?

To me sports are about as fair as they are going to be. A fair share of public schools win championships and so do private schools. Everyone needs to quit complaining and making excuses. Life doesn't care about your excuses. Be strong congratulate your competition and grow from it!

(Let the bashing begin in, 3,2,1...)

  3. I noticed Trousdale and Goodpasture are not playing each other this year. I would think that each team in the district must have a home and away. How does that affect district standings?

If memory serves me Trousdale Co. and RBS both forfeited their games with Goodpasture.  Thus, Goodpasture starts the season 4-0 and will not have played a game.  The only 2 teams to play Goodpasture in the district are Watertown and Gordonsville I do believe.

  4. You are confusing two different things. Goodpasture by enrollment is a single A school in football. With the multiplier added it bumps them to 3A. The rule in place is that the multiplier cannot move a team two classes which from A to 3A is two classes. The fact that they would still have an enrollment big enough for 2A in every other sport DOES NOT MATTER. As I stated earlier, football classification rules EVERYTHING.  They get to play in single A in every other sport simply because of a rule designed for football. This is a TSSAA rule. For it to change, the Board of Control must change it.

Kev35, Goodpasture has won the state in volleyball the last two years in two different classes. I think that qualifies as "successful" also. Football up to the last two years has been very successful. Basketball is where they have stumbled up till the last two-three years.

There are no players on Goodpasture's team from Clarksville. Don't know where that came from.

I'm not denying that they haven't been successful. Just staying what I understand of why they chose to go down in classification.

  5. From what I understand is that Goodpasture played up the last several years in AA and the higher ups wanted to be more competitive in the big sports.  Even with the multiplier they were still slated for A but could have stayed up in AA and chose not to.  The last 2 years they have been awsome, but before they were 9-18 and 9-17 in AA ball.  Its like most teams, you have your up and down years! Several down years and now several up years.  Most programs go through this but there are some that have consistently been good. Football they haven't been the greatest while in AA and even A, I think Trousedale Co. beat them handily both times! Only sports they have been consistently good at are Baseball and Softball and that will continue for the forseeable future!  Anyway, fact of all of this is they will be in single A for several more years so get use to it!   :D  :roflol: Besides what happened to wanting to play the best to see just how good you are!  It brings out the best and worst in people!  I for one miss the competition of playing against teams that everyone say were GREAT, so I could see just how good I really was! Ahhh.....the good ol days!

  6. I agree! Anyone certain players you liked from oakland? Heard they have an Austin peay commit as a junior for catching. But oakland has 2 senior catchers so he plays right field! Did he show off his cannon?

I was impressed with the catcher, RF and SS all seemed legit ball players.  I didn't get to see much of both games as I was trying to keep up with the kids!  I saw one play from the RF that was quite impressive but it seemed they weren't going 100% on both sides.

  7. Goodpasture does not belong in any "A" district. No private school should be classified less than "AA" or

be the private school division. They won their 8A games by an average of 88.7 to 38.7...a 50 point average. The only way to get to the substate is by making it to the one spot left in the region championship after Goodpasture blows its way through the tournament. I don't care if a private school has 20 students, they can get their basketball players from where ever they want and this NEVER will be fair to the small rural schools.

I agree with what you say, for the most part.  Yes I do thing no private school should be classified less than 'AA".  But I don't agree with you on the last part.  A school private school like Goodpasture can pull students from where ever they want, AS long as that family has the money to pay the tuition!  So, that makes the pond a little bit smaller than you might think.  Looking at their tuition rates I'm not sure how many people have $8,000 a year laying around!

Now a school like Brentwood Academy or PJP II  they can offer a "scholorship" to a student to play ball or academically.  That's why they are in the Private D-I or D-II area.  And yes they do have a distinct advantage!

    But that's just my opinion!

They be a bunch of butt hole just like Friedship was when they were in 8A.

How do you know they are a bunch of "butt hole"?  I've seen them play and they seemed fine to me.  A well coached team and they can shoot the ball!!

  8. Thanks for the feedback guys!  I appreciate it.  Now going on what happened last year how good will some of these teams be and who/what are they bringing back this year:

AAA -  Collierville, Dyer Co, Tullahoma, Riverdale and Dobyns Bennett

AA - Pigeon Forge, Dyersburg, Spring Hill, Crockett Co, Upperman and Elizabethton

A - Goodpasture (went down from AA and came up just short of Championship), Silverdale, Friendship Christian, Knox Grace, Summertown and Rockwood

I know most of these were powerhouses last year and are normally good every year.  So, it should be fun to watch.  So, what do ya'll think?

Already mentioned  in AA that Catholic should be a team to watch and in AAA - Hardin Valley will be a team to watch.  Any comments on any of these?
