Haha I have been a Duke fan since I was in 6th grade pal. The Bobby Hurley, Thomas Hill, Grant Hill, Laettner days. I have been to games at Cameron. I am no part timer. Been through the ups and downs (few thankfully) for 23 years. Have been disappointed the past few years losing to teams we shouldn't have in the NCAA tournament in the 1st and 2nd rounds the past few years. I am not a big supporter of the football program I would be lying if I said I was, but basketball is king there. Not even a lot of Duke alumni pull for the football team sadly. I know a lot about Duke history Art Heyman, Johhny Dawkins, all of the great past players.

Lol I belive that about some comments! But I do believe once it comes to getting a new staff the facilities would help to get any coach in the country ....the problem is they wont go after a coach "out of kingsport " !!

I'm a Duke basketball fan and that offends me lol Actually Duke fans can generally spell a lot better than this NC DB guy. He sounds more like a early 90s UNLV fan or Miami Hurricanes football fan of the late 80s early 90s

North Carolina would be a great place for you to concentrate on instead of spewing all of your non sense. You sound like a Duke fan to me. Leave the DB problems to the current coach and let him work it out. I bet when he fixes the problems and starts winning games he shouldn't win then you will be praising him. Why yes I am a duke fan.Which in case doesn't have anything to do with this topic.But back to the topic.I have enjoyed reading some of the post,and one or two has changed my opinion on the matter,Its a fact CRAP flows downhill..Maybe we give GC the next few season's to see where the program is then..

Good is a very impressive player for sure. After watching Memphis play vs Oklahoma State over the weekend, there is no doubt he is better than some of these athletic guys playing for Memphis. It never ceases to amaze me how colleges overlook guard prospects with the natural ability to PUT THE BALL IN THE BASKET (like Patrick Good) in favor of the athletic, distributing-only, defensive stopper type guards with no scoring ability whatsoever.

 

It certainly takes a certain amount of athletic ability to play at that level but way too many very good players are written off or ignored because of an inch or two in height, in favor of "lengthy" players who couldn't score the ball if you locked them in a gym by themselves. Stephon Curry, Seth Curry, and Chris Lofton immediately come to mind as guys with natural pure offensive ability who received much too little recruiting attention due to perceived athletic shortcomings.

And just to make this statement first,Nothing against the HAWKINS COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM.But a lot of the time it never has anything to do with the players ATHLETIC ABILITY,It's them not being able to make the necessary grades or make high enough on the ACT test to get in to some of the better programs.I've see plenty of players that could play at schools like DUKE,KU,UK etc. But grade wise they couldn't pass certain test to get in.That's why you see so much parody in college sports now.And see SO CALLED UPSETS more often when most of the players on these smaller and less known colleges could play at these larger colleges but grades are the big difference..

If they only beat DB by 14 then their not all that. Probably couldn't get within 30 points of "a" Memphis team.

Crockett is only the team to beat because of the S Hill players. When Good graduate Crockett will go back to the bottom of the conference. He could go to ANY team in the conference and they would win it that's how good he is.So you Crockett fans enjoy watching the best player to ever play the the next two years.When Day graduates this year you better recruit someone to help him next year

I agree that it would be great to have a whole new coaching staff... but graham is not going no where yet and has made some steps in the right direction this off-season so far , so maybe he realizes the talent he has next year at DB and wants to win !! ....but now for you saying "Carter has figured Graham out" ...nope graham has just had two straight years of 5-6 win teams at best, at the start of both seasons ....its not like these teams where predicted 10-0 like every year past ...

he's going to do what hes done in the past with very good talent,He's going to under achieve and waste some of the best talent DB has had in awhile.

Crockett is coached by one of the best men and coaches in the business. Great family man and friend to many. His son Patrick is the one who dropped 40 on DB and is a D1 player.

What's there last name,was going to look him up.

They are in the Arbys Classic. They play North Gwinnett, GA the first day.

I guess all the GC followers have decided not to comment on this topic any longer,I would like to apologize to all of you that cried you're. selves asleep cause someone came out and told what really needs to be done at DB for them to be a REAL CONTENDER in the state of tennERsee.Cause as some of you have posted,You're content with what y'all have and now playing to be 2nd best in NE TENN cause CARTER has figured GC out.Then I guess the topic is over.It's just ashame the kids are the ones that are paying for it.

Got a chance to see DC play DB and was very impressed with this BASKETBALL TEAM.Can't think of the kids name,but he put up 40pts and was very impressive.Should have been in the ARBYS TOURNAMENT cause I believe they would have represented the TRI-CITIES very well.Wondering if anyone has had a chance to see them play and what there thoughts on them are.And know what that kids name was.

I know a school can opt to play up a classification (like they are really 5A but they play 6A), but is the opposite true? I am guessing not, but I think DB would be able to compete in 5A. On this side of the state you would have to get past 5A powerhouses Ooltewah, Knox West and Oak Ridge, not sure you can do that year after year but its better than trying to go thru the black hole in Blount County.

DB is a 6A school,and moving down wouldn't guarantee them winning a GOLD BALL,And as good as Maryville is they are beatable.And I think DB has the players to do it.I just think DB and the coaching staff has become complacency with what there doing.Not saying they don't want to win state.Even the teams going 1-9 every season wants to win state.The reason why I started this topic was I knew DB has a lot more than a 2nd round exit almost every yr.To me beating. any team in the playoffs is very difficult.And it's not just about beating Maryville,Which they have showed if you're going to get a chance to play for a gold ball,You have to go though them.But losing 45-0,42-21,31-14 is not being competitive to me.Lets close the gap first and at least give Maryville a team from this side of the state to contend with.And I truly think DB is that team.I've lived here now going on 10yrs,And I've never seen one school that controled the whole state yr after yr.Just make them earn it a lot better than what teams are doing now.GQ is a great coach,and they have good players,But are they really that much better than everyone else.Its MINDSET!!..And like I said it's nothing personal about GC,I just think it's time for some new blood and moral.It just seems to me that all these folks that have been DB fans are content and think they owe him something,If that's so name the field after him and don't make the kids pay for it cause some of you on here and in the stands are his friends and don't want to hurt his feelings.My opinion is he should step down and give someone else a try.

Obviously North Carolina was where he got his education.

I'd agree with that and say that the population increase has helped as well. Lots more people moving into the state from other football rich states likeGeorgia, Ohio, even Florida and Texas as well. I just see the state getting better and UT would be smart to keep the talent in state as opposed to letting it go to other SEC schools.

Tennessee Valley Conference, literally every team in this conference is in the valley. Though if I was a betting man, I'd bet Big 8, same ole same ole.
