1. I thought it was a good game. I think #3 was the best player I've seen this year, and yes that means better than Chase Dunn and Jacob Wright. This kid matched Jacob everytime down the floor. This is a good team, and I'll be suprised if we don't see them in the state tourny. As for the officiatting, I thought it was above avg. Only thing I have to complain about is a few too many missed walk calls, but that is probably the most missed call by every officiating crew in the state. As for the youngster, I think he goes by Bubba, he looks like he'll be a good ref for years to come. My only complants really with refs are ones that I see alot that I personally feel are out to get pickett co and bibb like (Case, Carr, Goose, and Heady). And I think most of it is because of Bibb. When Brent was the boys coach, we got more calls, and I thought it was better reffing, the teams got to play more instead of these draw out free throw contests. I really only notice bad officiatting in games that are reffed by the previously mentioned officials. But as for this weekends crews, both did solid jobs.

Wow, better than Dunn and Wright? That's high praise... Anyone got a name on this kid? How many points did he have?

  2. I dont know much about rockwood but my rankigs would have to go

#1 Grace really good team lots of weapons

2 Harriman dont know much about but hear they got some size

3 Greenback they'll play with a lot of heart this year

4 Rockwood could use some size this year

    5 Knox Christian new coach?

6 Midway needs alot of help

7 T.S.D dont kno anything about them

From the little I saw of Rockwood over the summer they are huge this year. Even most of their wings are 6'0 plus. Harriman lost most of its size and will be a guard laden team. They will have to be scrappy to guard the good post players around the region. I don't know about third, but I do agree with you about Greenback, they always play hard and will have a good year.

  3. Grace played oliver springs and Shultz this summer at fulton camp and it was 30 piont game not even close. Shultz is a nice player but not best in region by a long stretch. Grace beat rockwood Twice last year by 15 and they have everyone back plus added some nice players that will push for time, Rockwood will be good and has a very good coach but not good enough to beat Grace.

This is to be expected.. I guess we can give you a pass since Grace is a relatively new program. You will soon learn that summer games and camps mean absolutely nothing towards the outcomes of regular season games.

  4. District 3A

    1. Rockwood- Has good size this year and solid guard play led by the best coach in the region.

    2. Grace- The lethal 1-2 punch returns with Pridemore and Slusher along with excellent role players.

    3. Berean- Not seen them, but from what I've heard they are a force to be reckoned with.

    4. Knox Christian- Always sort of a mystery who might play but has great athleticism.

    5. Harriman- Completely new team but McGill will lead them.

    6. Greenback- Returns most significant contributors from a season ago.

    7. Midway- Like Vegas said, just not enough firepower.

    8. TSD- Not sure what they have.

    District 4A

    1. OS- Shultz may be the best player in the region.

    2. Wartburg- Lost a lot but with the style they play, they will win plenty of games.

    3. Oneida- Always solid.

    4. Oakdale- Will surprise a lot of people.

    5. Sunbright- Good young nucleus.

    6. Coalfield- Lost everyone.

I think Rockwood, OS, and Grace are clearly the frontrunners and maybe a step up from the rest. There are plenty of quality teams with quality coaching in this region so look for some surprise teams.

  5. QUOTE(backinthaoc @ Mar 13 2007 - 06:37 PM) 826410558Let's put it this way...It took a team that dropped down in classification the same year that Union City did to beat them...A team,by the way, that competed in the AA state tournament the year before they dropped to 1A...

Why did Humboldt drop down a classification? I'm not trying to imply anything but I saw in the preview for the single A tournament this year that they had 580 kids or so.. Maybe there is a perfectly reasonable answer but it's kind of unfair playing against schools with half the enrollment they have.

  6. QUOTE(Ineedalife @ Mar 4 2007 - 09:23 PM) 826399882you bring up a good point about UHs court. Those extra 10 feet and woodacres ball handling make it difficult to press the whole game. Wartburg better play their whole squad if they want to keep this close. I look for UH to win, but will have to play best game to date. No gimmees this time of year.

I'm hearing a lot of high praise about this woodacre kid.. For those of us who haven't seen him play, what kind of player is he? size, shooting, defense..etc

The Eagles seem to be playing pretty good here lately and are always tough at home any opinions on the game?

Yes Cosby has been playing well of late and it's always tough to get a win in the nest. Harriman is an extremely athletic team but are also very inconsistent. The key will be for Harriman to contain Jenkins and try to make him play defense. Cosby must shoot the 3 ball well and speed up the pace of the game to be successful. I'll take Cosby by 6

P.S. If anyone could give updates on the game it would be much appreciated.

  8. Grace was up the entire game by at least 15 and Greenback came out lighting it up from everywhere in the 4th quarter...against our JV. haha ;)

Yea... I'm sure that's exactly what happened  .. Actually what I heard was that Greenback should have won the game if they shot any better than 6-21 from the free throw line.. Heck, if they shoot 67% they win by 5

  9. yeah but harriman only beat cosby by like 9 and we beat em by 28, so i dont think harriman will be a big problem we just need to stay focused

Sounds like the newcomers are getting the big head..? Soon enough that head will bust after they start playing some District road games against the perennial powers..

  10. I've heard that he is going to transfer after this season. At first It was said he was leaning toward Vandy, but I also heard he was considering going to UT. Has anyone heard if he's leaning one way or the other...?

Okay so mainly i post on the girls basketball but i heard and read about the Wartburg vs. Rockwood game..WHAT HAPPENED. Oakdale almost beat Rockwood at Rockwood and gave Rockwood a pretty good game at home. So does that mean Oakdale has a chance against Wartburg tomorrow night? just some thoughts.....

    Bright Tiger

Oakdale is a solid ball club, they really have a chance to beat anyone because they shoot the 3 so well. Rockwood was up by 20 or so in the second half in both games but Oakdale shot their way back in it. Oakdale really plays well at home. Wartburg should win the game, but don't expect a blow out. The fast pace the bulldogs play could play into Oakdale's hands if they can get open looks from the perimeter in transition.

Wow, I was just checking rockwood's roster and they only have a total of

6 Juniors and Seniors this year. That's a pretty young squad.

Are any of these returning starters from last year..??

There is 1 returning starter from last year's squad, #44 Peddicord.. But in general it is a pretty young team from Rockwood. They have 4 sophomores that play valuable minutes every night.. If they stay composed I think they will pull it out in the end.

    Rockwood 65

    Cosby 61
