Because they’re a D&$@ good team. You should know that by now. All I know is that Oakland must be a total powerhouse to beat any Maryville team like that. Maryville has won their fair share, and will be back, like always. It seems the home team always wins in this ongoing rivalry.

Maryville may have won their fair share, but this team is embarrassing.

Lol.....I would seriously doubt sportsguy22 is the AD.  My guess is that the AD at Oakland is avoiding social media of all sorts.  His mouth already got him in trouble once this year with the TSSAA

I was not sure since his post stated "the Superintendent and I". He seems to be an authority on every thread of this website.

Incorrect. The superintendent and I believe the principal have already explained that the football team will not be effected. Teams that have virtual classes are allowed to play all over the state. They stated the shutdown at Oakland High School is due to a big shortage in substitute teachers.

That is great and thanks for detailed info. I hate to see anymore teams dropout, especially playoff teams.

How does this effect the game?

Check out this article from Daily News Journal:

Oakland High goes into 3-day quarantine beginning Thursday, moving to distance learning

    https://www.dnj.com/story/news/2020/10/28/oakland-high-quarantine-covid-19-teachers-students-distance-learning-rutherford-county/6059044002/

That’s bad news for Oakland and most likely the contract tracing will effect their team. Also, since the story is in the paper it will be almost impossible to get a pass to play the rest of the season. Several other schools have had this happen and had to forfeit the rest of their seasons. Just ask, region champ Dekalb Co.

Warren Co. has had their fair share of lean years, since city and county schools consolidated in 1969. The state championship has also been elusive, since McMinnville High School won it in 1928.

The best records since consolidation are:

1983 - 10-2, lost in quarterfinals to Chattanooga McCallie. Only regular season loss was to state champion Germantown.

1980 - 11-2, lost in semi-finals to state champion Oak Ridge.

1973 - 10-1, lost in quarterfinals to state champion Baylor. Only undefeated regular season.

Pioneer fans are some of the most loyal in the state.  The 2020 team has already brought much excitement to Warren County in their first 5 games. Best of luck the rest of the season to the Pioneers!

    3 great teams for sure.

7 is a stretch, but 8 is ridiculous. How? You beating Blackman all of the sudden?! Sneaking into that fourth spot is an outside possibility with an upset win over Cookeville, but even that is unlikely. You won’t beat any of the Big 3, and it will not be close. Just telling it like it is. A 6 win season at WC is a “once in a blue moon accomplishment” and that would certainly be something to be proud of.

    8 is not ridiculous.
