  1. judging on his soph year? He is 6'8, averaging about 23 ppg, 3 blk, 12 rebounds this year in AA. I would think any team in state would take a talented big man like that, specially single A.

I agree with you UCM. I would bet the main reason Endicott didn't fit in at Celina is that they just wanted to use him to rebound & set picks for Key, & that's OK for some kids but Endicott is a kid that can play & was underutilized at Celina. Kid is doing great at UHS, playing better comp consistently & is used in a much more productive fashion. Players want to play, not watch others play, when one kid shoots over half the shots you got problems, especially if they get in foul trouble, but judging by the Celina scores I doubt they will get in foul trouble given the fact you usually pick up fouls by playing aggressive Defense

  2. Celina has no shot at winning the State Tourny. And Macon Co is weak as water, UHS is the only good team in that District. If anyone thinks that Celina will get past good teams by shooting layups then you are smoking some good stuff, good team won't let them. Size won't be a big deal because let's face it, it's single A basketball & there is very little size in Single A. Celina will probably get to the State Tourny because it's a very easy path for them, but winning it is a completely different story. Saying that I wish them all the best & I hope they do win it all

  3. I have nothing against playing fast but I have also watched too many teams shoot themselves out of a ballgame. Players need to know especially in the fourth quarter when it is time to take a great shot rather than an average shot.

I have watched teams with double digit leads lose games because of this lack of discipline.

That's Coaching/Teaching. To much Coaching & Not Enough Teaching

  4. Absolutely needs a shot clock, If you can't get a good shot is 35 seconds then the coach isn't teaching basketball. That to me is the main problem, the game is not being taught, coaches that have to call a play every time down the floor are hindering the growth of the player, Ever heard "Players over Plays". Bob Knight never called plays, as a matter of fact he said that if he had to call a play for a player then you aren't a basketball player. If the game is taught properly then very few plays should ever need to be called, teaching proper spacing, lanes & how to utilize the entire court to your teams advantage. Another thing that needs to be changed is the no-charge zone under the basket, I see far to many kids not playing defense but instead setting up to take a charge under the net, defense is played out in front of the rim,not below the net, it's lazy & dangerous to take a charge under the net & should never be called.

  5. He is d1 basketball?? Wow, never saw that coming lol.. Sorry guys that im blount, but he would never play basketball at the division 1 level.. I played college ball at a naia school and the levels are just too much..But yes he is playing d1 BASEBALL.. And that's great.. Heard he was really a heck of a baseball player.. Congrats kid.. Pitcher?

Yes...He could have played D1 Basketball without a Doubt. Had multiple D1 Coaches interested in him, he just wanted to play baseball & nothing wrong with that. Just because you played doesn't make you an expert. I played also, Endicott is a excellent player with high upside, can dribble, pass & shoot with range, good defender at 6'8" that's a heck of a talent. Add 30lbs & a red shirt then he is a possible High Major. NO QUESTION

  6. Bad mouth high school kids lol? Haha.. I never said he isn't a good player.. Yall making it out like Endicott is a standout player.. Put a 6 7 on him and he does nothing.. It's facts not bad mouthing no one.. But time will tell.. Also who said the teams Smith county beat were any county lmao? Not me.. Hville is horrible.. Gville is a alright team.. Smith county is really young.. They will blow leads and give up some games this year.. Lol I love it when guys like yall get worked up when someone simply says a kid that yall making out to be d1 isn't good haha.. And I will say that in person... I'm off of this till district starts.. ✌

I have seen 6'7 thru 6'10 play against Endicott on the ADIDAS Circuit & that is a heck of a lot tougher than High School or playing summer basketball at mom & pop tournaments in Cookeville,Rockwood etc, etc. Endicott is a D1 Basketball Player. Sorry to bust your bubble but he could have played Basketball or Baseball, he just chose baseball & given the landscape & numbers of the 2 sports I can't say I blame him

  7. South Doyle, Maryville, Bearden, Alcoa, and Fulton are 5 of BC's 6 losses. Traveled to Knoxville and made no excuses. Great season Sparta but a product of your own choices to play no one to get you ready at tournament time.

Agreed: Just because you go undefeated in a bad district (cant control a bad district) & beat up on bad single A teams does NOT mean that you are a good team. Word of advise to ALL High School Coaches, Play a Tough Schedule, plenty of good teams within a 3 hour drive, you do NOT get better by playing Weak Teams and winning Pointless Games Early in the Season, the Entire Point is to be Winning Late in the Season. And this advise is to ALL High School Coaches. Strength of Schedule Matters

  8. Students dont want to come to games because they are disrespected by admin goons. They are harrassed and made to feel like they are criminals. And for goodness sake dont let them see you post something that they dont like on social media or it will turn into a witch hunt where they violate rights and refuse to let OUR kids call us before they are interrogated. These things are factual and I have 1st hand knowledge of them. They also issue "requests" over the schools public address system that end up having consequences if the request are not followed thus they become threats that violate their own bullying policy as well as push into the realm of Federal terrorism violations. Abuse and intimidation by authority figures etc. Pathetic leadership role models and authoritarian thugs. Why dont you shake that radio antenna is someones face that can shake it back sometime. s

Interesting, for a School like Maryville that supposedly prides itself as the Elite School I find it a Contradiction of sorts. Most all schools in the area have better support from what I have seen

  9. Great Atmosphere, would have liked to see the Fulton Starters actually play, 2nd group for Fulton are not close to being ready. Note to All High School Coaches, take a page from Oak Ridge Coach on how to prepare your kids, PLAY TOUGH COMP EARLY and stop worrying about wins and losses early in the year, COMPETITION MATTERS and if your not playing Quality Teams it shows up Later. Nice to see people actually support their program instead of just talking about it

  10. Zack castle was the district 7A MVP his senior year(class of 2012 from Monterey). They were last in the district and actually didn't win a district game. They were also eliminated in the play in game. He averaged around 25 points per game I would say and they competed in every district game, but didn't win one. I say that to say that it happens. Not often, but occasionally. There are more examples I could give, but one will suffice just to say it happens.

That being said, typically there are 3/4 players per district that you could make the argument for. But let's say all the players are in a "fantasy draft," who do you take first?? Maybe one of those guys that have been mentioned? A guard? Or do you take the only versatile 6'8 player that can play inside and out?

I have no dog in this race whatsoever, but have seen all these teams play and I know which one I would select first. And I am betting most coaches will agree come Friday morning.

Agreed. I don't have a single family member in district 8AA, but for someone to say that Blevens isn't the best kid in that district is comical. I guarantee you every coach in that region regardless of classification would take him first if they were picking teams. No Brainer, Some folks think with their heart instead of their brain

  11. LOL that you can say he may be the best player in the state. That's quiet possibly the dumbest thing that has been said in this thread. What presence around the basket? He doesn't play defense. Again, he is a very good player and I am taking nothing away from him. I'm just shocked that someone thinks he may be the best player in the state. I don't think the best player in any state would go to Tech, there is more to the game of basketball than you obviously know about. It's a team game, and if you're team is 6-6 then obviously there is something wrong. I mean watch basketball, tell me one MVP or POY of the year award that has went to a player on a team that goes .500 in district of conference play.

He chose Tech because it was close to home, He was also recruited by Virginia,Mercer and Tennessee was inquiring. Kid can play, he is a D1 player getting a full scholarship at a D1 School, name 1 other kid from that district in 2016 that will get a D1 basketball scholarship. I will wait for your educated response. MVP means Most Valuable Player & IMO he is by far and away the MVP. My Opinion. Don't care either way

  12. Shepperson is a sophomore... And should win mvp that says a lot but could see guffey winnings it with ease too... Tell me where Blevins is a good defender? Lol he is by far the laziest player in the district, probably state... Not trying to bash him.. But his attitude is very poor, but If he played with heart and 110% he could be the best in state but he isn't... And you could take Blevins off that team and they would still be a 5-6 seed team...

OK, You have your opinion and are entitled to it. Like I said Blevins is a D1 Player, that should say enough. I have seen York play and IMO without him they may win 2 games at the most but I doubt it, different game driving to the rim with him in the game vs when he isn't,his presence around the basket on defense is worth 15 points alone. MVP should go to the BEST PLAYER regardless of wins and losses IMO, sometimes the best player is simply on a Bad Team...And if you think that Blevins is playing lazy, that's Coaching IMO. But even if he is lazy he is still the best in that District & Upperman has the 2nd best College Prospect (2017)

  13. "Listen, Both Guffey and Shepperson are very good players.

VictoryFormation talked about Guffey getting denied 25 ft from the basket. That is one player guarding him. Shepperson is very talented, especially for his size, but for the most part is played straight up. Blevins faces at least a double team EVERY time he touches the ball.

I am not trying to diminish either player, but Guffey had two respectable games, but neither were eye opening against York and they're so called "mediocre" perimeter players. Shepperson had one average game and one stellar game against York but was never doubled (maybe in hindsight we should have in the one last week!).

Just feel like Blevins has much more resistance in every game to face than the other two do, and it's not even close imo.

Hope King's injury isn't serious. He is a very good player."

Livingston didn't double team him. They couldn't, the threat from 3 was too dangerous. The MVP should go to the best player, on the best team and York is definitely not that. I could see the case for Guffey with Upperman. I just think it's wrong that Blevins gets all this hype because he's a 6'8 shooter, and people think he's the greatest thing this district has ever seen and yes he's good, very good but he plays on a middle of the pack district team. The MVP should take a mediocre team and make them better than 6-6 in the district, without him their still probably 6-6. You take Shepperson away from Smith County and they probably aren't 1st in the district. But he makes that impact. He's the most valuable player on the best team, not the most valuable player on the 5th place team in the district. That's the difference.

Take Blevins off York and they wouldn't win a single game. Blevins is a Division1 Player and the ONLY D1 Player in the Entire District in the Class of 2016. Hands down the MVP, its makes for a very different game when the opposing Coachs entire game plan is to slow down 1 player, sees double teams with help coming every night. Top 5 player in the State and possibly the best player in the State(most college potential) not many 6'8" guys out there that can do what Blevins can do,shoot from 25,handle the ball, good defender & very unselfish(should shoot more) I do Not have a Dog in this at all,but Blevins is the best Player in that District in the Class of 2016 Hands Down
