  1. The only D1 prospect from around this area that I have seen lately is Key from CC. This sophomore has 87 points in his last four games. Now to make "rabbitranch" happy, if you want to compare apples with apples Miller isn't even in the same league. Forgot to mention Keys sweet dunks, and the fact that he is very humble. Don't want anyone to think I'm dogging Miller. He will be a great athlete.

  2. Apparently you don't follow high school BB as close as many do and you have every right to your opinion. I'm very impressed with Hayes' play as you can see by my prior post. Comparing the two is like trying to compare apples to oranges, Hayes is very quick, adds a lot to LA.s program and improves the team considerably with his addition. Miller is a solid player, makes good decisions most of the time, plays good D and can score from anywhere. He plays like his sister (that is meant to be a huge compliment) tough as nails and will not back down from anyone. Players like Miller do not show up very often. He has that special 'something'.

. Don't believe I compared the two, simply stated my opinion on which I preferred. I've been watching these two play AAU for years. Hayes may not have the height of Miller but has speed, great shooting ability, and controls the momentum of the game. He also seems to be a very unselfish player. Also if you're trying to sell Miller on the video that was posted maybe they should have posted some clips with someone playing a little defense on him. No doubt Miller is gonna be a great ball player and can drain the 3's, but come on there was no D going on in the clips.
  3. Have we been watching the same games? There's only one "big guy" who plays and contributes. The reason Macon is 9-3 is because of guard play combined with the rebounding of the 4 and the 5. Also against Upperman, the stat sheet read 9 turnovers.

Heck of a win tonight against a good Clay Co team.

The last game I was referring to was the DC game and check your turnover stats for that. It killed us. Last night against Clay our team played great! Even the coach held back on his substitutions. The kids played more as a team last night. Still didn't play to our maximum ability, but any improvement is good.
  4. macon has only one senior and he does'nt start but does come in and play off the bench.Macon will have a really good team next year.

There is no excuse for MC not to be good this year. They are gonna have to cut down on the turnovers and get their players under control. They need to take advantage of their big guys under the goal and stop this run and gun thing. Last game alone 15+ turnovers. The athletic ability is there, just not being used.
  5. Watched MC and UH. MC has a decent team but limited athletically.MC has a couple of good shooters and a pretty good big man that should keep them competitive. Was not impressed with UH at all. No size, I didn't see a kid over 6'2 ever touch the floor. UH will be 100% dependent on the Guffy kid being hott from outside to contend with the better teams.

Cushings from UH never touched the floor, what's up with that. Saw him play this summer and he definately looked better than most of these starters.
  6. Also if you want to be fair wbryguy you can go over to the CC v/s MC page and see where I said CC was a very scrappy and fast, and that they had a great team this year. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers on this page. Just trying to give opinions on our last two games. Our starters played maybe a couple minutes in the third quarter against CC and then he pulled at least three of them and at one point 4 of them. The starters went back in with about three minutes left in the game and went from about 20 pts down to 11pts. Our starters never get a chance to get anything going before he pulls them.

  7. Very ugly basketball being played in Baxter this week. Two halftime leads blown due to missed foul shots and isolation basketball. Everyone looking for their own shot, nobody trying to create for someone else so most times it's 1 pass and shoot in the half court set. There has been some good flashes when we push the tempo and run the floor. Maybe we can get things turned around in Florida. Congrats Macon

Yes it was a very poorly played game by both teams. It was apparent that Upperman players weren't attempting to play as a team, even arguing with each other on the floor. Upperman definately has some talent but if you can't play as a team it won't get you very far. Macon can't seem to get any momentum going. As soon as they get on a roll or any sort of solid lead the coach is gonna play his bench. He is gonna sub at least 2 or 3 players every quarter with 4 min left on the clock. Every coach in the district knows it and loves it. We had a good lead till he pulled the some starters then Upperman gained 10 pts. Same stunt cost us the game against CC last week too.
  8. Cannon is a very scrappy team and played very well lastnight. IMO they won't be able to handle LA. Macon played horrible lastnight. Game started good then we choose to play 10 deep. As soon as all the substitutions started it went out of control with CC even getting a 20+ lead. Coach finally decided to put first string back in and they brought us back within 11. Guess the coach was trying to make some kind of point, who knows what that might be but it's hard to win when your starters spend most of their time on the bench. Not taking anything away from CC though. They have a great team this year.

  9. Hard for me to believe Edwards was holding back, especially against Owens. Everyone knows there is no love lost between the two. (EDD) Ha ha!!! Hey I hope the problem is just the fact they aren't use to playing together. I just thought the big guys would dominate. The officials were really letting the kids play lastnight, otherwise the big boys would have been out at the half. Key has been averaging about 20+ points a game and he had what around 5 pts. Even in foul trouble I thought he would have more. Boles and Dodson lit it up lastnight. No one can make me believe Edwards would try to just "slide by" RBS. There is way to much history there.

  10. Traveled to RBS last night to scout out CC and hopefully watch a few dunks. I had heard lots of hype on their new 6'7 kid that was added to their already stellar lineup. Much to my surprise it was a great game. Kudos to RBS! Their kids gave it all they had. Confused on how CC can have that much talent and not dominate. Maybe to many chiefs and not enough Indians??? No doubt the most talented kid is Key, but it seemed the bigger guys wouldn't share the ball. Edwards enjoys the rotation of two teams, well his second team off the bench definately outshined his first lastnight. There is a lot to be said for kids that play as a team. They proved size isn't everything. To bad he didn't play Key with them. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a CC fan but lastnight they didn't live up to all the hype. Hopefully last night was a wake up call for them.

  11. So far I've seen Dekalb, Cannon, Macon, and Smith play. Of those 4 teams Cannon looked the best with a lot of scoring threats. Macon was the next best of the 4. Cannon should be able to beat them, but if Macon is shooting well they could pull off the upset. Smith looks quite a bit better than last year, but still not ready to make any huge gains in the District... Dekalb looked the weakest of the 4. Their size should help them compete with Smith, but I think Smith is the better team and they are playing hard for their new coach.

When did you see these teams play? Kinda hard to judge till all the football players get back to full playing time.
  12. You say scrambling for his life. I say won't stand in the pocket. I'm not arguing. Just saying one group isn't responsible for anything.

I guess if I was getting killed every play I would have a really hard time staying on the pocket too. Good grief this kid took a beating from MC and our D isn't that great. This kid is not to blame he definately has heart and gives his all.
  13. Clay scored only one time on offense, 2 touchdowns came off kick off returns, and of those 6 turnovers 4 was forced that I can remember. The game was nowhere near as close as the score indicated. RBS is an A school who put another A team on their schedule. Macon is a 4A school scheduling an A school. I may have been a little harsh before, I apologize, but I was saying the same thing last year and when they were playing Jo Byrns as well.

MC didn't play Jo Burns last year, and take a closer look and compare MC schedule with RBS's schedule. You really want to talk about which is the cushy one? Really looking forward to the outcome of both these teams Thursday night.
