  1. Sc would have drilled the toppers again, mague is 5' 6" and can't hit the broad side of the barn the Bears are way better coached in my opinion. S hill was way overrated and this game turned out exactly like I said it would. Flame on topper fans!

What's your point hating on a bunch of kids? Seriously. It is high school football. Every teams fans base likes to brag. So what. You need to watch Dr. Phil.

  2. You can't say they are easily the best team in the state. Ensworth was the last team to manhandle Maryville in an all out scrimmage last year. Science Hill put too much stock in the BA win. BA overlooked SH because they ate SH alive in 2013. Also SH has an offense that just happened to test BA's weakness. Repeat the SH vs BA game again, and BA wins by 3 TD's easy.

Bud, you know so little about football your rants are comical. You have a serious problem.

  3. I can't wait either. Because SH losses Malik, who made the SH offense. The best team SH has had, against a down overall DB team. At least when DB is good, they can hang with Maryville for close to 3 quarters (as they did in 2012) and beat the best private schools (like MBA). SH fans are going to have a reality check in 2014 as Malik takes away everything that made the offense go. You guys think you have a top 10 team in 6A? No, it is just that DB is down and you had a lucky game against a BA team that was asleep (after killing SH in 2013, why should they have worried). When DB is at their best, at least they don't lose by 45. Lets, be honest here, Bradley Central at 5-5 took you the distance at home, Elizabethton (1/3 SH size) was right there with SH for a good portion of this year's game, TN High almost beat you, DB game 1 saw SH almost lose after being up by 21, DB stinks it up in game 2 and somehow SH fans(best season in their modern history) think they had a special team. Even in 2009 when DB was 5-6 they played Maryville (without DB's star rb Chris Sensabaugh) closer than SH.

Bud, my man, no matter how you spin it (and there is some serious spin here) you guys have lost to SHHS 3 times in the past two seasons.

  4. This is so STUPID,Didn't Maryville read any of the post on how great the lil toppers offense was?And how they played BA and scored so much.Just don't understand,At least they didn't get blown out and kept it close.Goes to show you how great of a coach Mr Carter is.He knows how to prepare and has his team ready for the BIG GAMES.I'm just hoping DB and Coach Clark will one day be on his teams level.Probly want ever happen, but I can wish.

And the trolls come out of the rotten woodwork. North Carolina is a nice state, you are more suited for South Carolina.

  5. A story on the front page of the Kingsport Times News tomorrow pretty much tells the story of the way things are run at Dobyns Bennett. They can't figure out how to turn off the stadium lights. Been burning 24/7. That pretty much sums it up.

I read where they are thinking of hiring someone to tell them how to save money, which is kind of strange itself. Then someone complains the stadium lights are left on and the mayor says, "no one knows how to turn them off."

You can't make this stuff up.

  6. I didn't go to Maryville science hill or Db buti wwasat tthe game db vs Maryville in 2012 if it hadn't been for the refs calling backa td on swafford as he smoked tthe whole Maryville secondary and foreman kickoff return didn'tgget called back db wins that game i db was the better team that year i wasn't all that impressed with Maryville remember toppers you all are going to be playingaagainst the refs

    1st post for what?

  7. Day Tripper was one of few songs where the one who wrote it (Lennon) did not sing lead (McCartney). It was actually released as a "double A" sided single with "We Can Work it Out".

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

I did not know Lennon wrote it. He would have been great singing it.

  8. This is a great opportunity for the Toppers. Very few outside their fan base give them a chance. They cannot get off the bus "hoping" to keep it close. I do believe teams like Maryville have their opponents intimidated before the ball is kicked off.

Anything can happen Friday night. Intimidated teams tend to turn it over, have maddening penalties, fall behind early and do not answer scores. See the last SHHS / Maryville matchup.

Science Hill just played their most complete game of the year. They dismantled DB. Their speed and strength was very evident. Was that their peak or was that where they are as a team now.

My concern is this program has not been in this situation before. Carter's South teams faced Maryville once I believe and played tough. These kids had their biggest game against a great DB team in 2012 and could have won. I thought that DB team could beat Maryville. This SHHS team is better than the 2012 team. While the 2012 loss to DB let these kids know they could compete, they haven't faced what they will face Friday night. So, they have to overcome themselves.

Maryville is supposed to win. They expect to win. They are the measuring stick.

The SHHS kids have an opportunity to be a part of history for their program. One game. I understand the opposing fans, naysayers, and haters. Common sense is on their side.

Don't turn the ball over. Disciplined play. And answer scores. Key stops on D.

    It can be done.

  9. We put our defense in a bad spot with 5 turnovers, three of which put SC at our 30 or better on 3 consecutive possessions to start the third quarter. (21 points)

Oh well looks like our defense has something to prove all of a sudden. Hopefully they will be up to the challenge.

    Turnovers are the great equalizer.

  10. Fellers eye down't know if'un our littull Richie Cunninham's cain tag McGue, much less tackull him......He's so qwik he cain turn oft tha lite and bee undur tha cuvvers befour tha lite goes out......

STARSNBARS has to edit a post?

  11. Last week I would of said Maryville by 30. But now I don't know. Maryville gave up 4 touchdowns tonight. They've only had 3 scored on them all season. Science Hills offense is at least 4 touchdowns better than Sevier County's. I'm just saying if Maryville gets into a scoring match with Science Hill it could be dangerous. I think Maryville is going to have problems slowing down McGue.

Great point. Maryville should win. They are supposed to win BUT....to me what is the mindset of SHHS? They've never had what they now have in front of them. How do they handle it? Most teams who play Maryville are beat before they get off the bus.

One game. It is all about attitude.

Great moments are born from great opportunity.

  12. AlcoasPaintedBridge,

Science Hill has their best season ever, so they by default know everything and are superior in every way. Just bow down for now and they will have mercy. Until this time next week, then you can call them out. Or next year @BackToEarth.

    And Aussie,

Don't you dare ever mention the words Butt hurt and anything Johnson City related. That is your areas expertise.

Ole Bud is a sore loser. He probably said the same thing after last year's loss.

  13. One great year with a super star QB does not make Carter the best coach by any means. Science Hill will be in for a rude awakening next year. If you think Carter is the best coach or that he is classy, you probably snorted too much of that meth up there in East TN. The funniest part about Science Hill's win tonight over their rival during their best season ever is.........nobody cares, not even your own fans as evidenced by the poor turnout. At DB cold and rain does not mean a poor showing during a key home game. Before you think that I care (because I don't) the only reason I replied is to point out what I knew would happen; One good year and Carter is a God and Science Hill is all of a sudden the best and their fans (the few that care) are experts. Next year will be fun watching you lose to DB. Please save and reference this post for the 2015 game because I am 100% certain.

In Vegas there is a saying, "Winners laugh and crack jokes, losers cry deal."

I know we ain't in Vegas but you are crying deal. Carter might not part the Red Sea but DB and Science Hill seems to be a rivalry again. Carter had never beat Clark but now he has taken 3 in a row. The fear of DB is indeed gone. It is as it should be...a rivalry between two very good schools. Until DB wins again, SHHS is the better team in upper ET.
