  1. Of course another private school basher. No tricks. Silvey didn't want to leave but do to some circumstances at home dad felt he needed to be closer to home. That's their private business and I'll leave it at that. Moses Davis mom wanted him back home so he moved back to Texas after Christmas break to be with her. Cam Whaley was at Catholic because his brother was a senior there. He didn't like the school. Private school isn't for everyone and the academics at Catholic are very demanding. They actually do have teachers who don't care for athletics and are harder on the athletes. Whaley's brother is graduating in May from Catholic, so he's going to Bearden his zoned school. You can't make kids stay if they don't want to be there. All great kids who will be missed. Nice conspiracy theory but those kids probably won't be back.

If he was driving from loudon already everyday how could he be legal to play at another school without a change of address?

  2. 5 kids is too many to make all state unless you are some super team like Union City. A team with 5, true all state players is one of those rare undefeated or one loss teams. The 2010 SP team that won the state only had 2-3 all state players. Nashville Christian only having one represented is a complete joke.

So grateful that we have you to keep all of us so informed on what is right and wrong in this world. You should change your screen name to Nostradamus. Just have some respect for other teams and KIDS.

  3. Congrats to all the kids, but Coalfield having 5 all state players? That is laughable to say the least. They have a couple of deserving kids, but not 5. Union City has 6 on the team and Coalfield has 5? If they truly have 5 all state players then someone didn't get coached up enough. I've seen a few of the "great" teams through the years get 5-6 players, but this is ridiculous. I believe SP had maybe 3 last year. 5 players making all state for a team that got mercy ruled in the finals is just too much. Nashville Christian was clearly the second best team and they have 1 player making the list? This list is pitiful.

Chris, not a very classy comment. We have one from oakdale, and I am thankful for it. I would say any team that makes the state title game starting 5 freshmen and replacing 18 starters was coached up. No need to be that way. CONGRATULATIONS to all of the players who made all state!

  4. Not usually a jacket fan,but wanted to say thanks to coalfield for representing morgan county well. Also, nice job and game plan by the staff considering they did start 5 freshmen in a state title game. That is remarkable no matter who you are. To union city...you guys are awesome. Great team speed everywhere. Hope every one has a great offseason especially my eagles. Maybe we can get in the playoffs again.

  5.    I'm still thinking that NG would win the tie breaker over Cloudland .Sort of a mixed up mess.

I think you are right pujo. it goes to over all record for the three way tie. if cloudland loses they are 8-2. NG win would make them 5-5. Cosby win makes them 4-6.  After the 3 way tie is resovled, then it goes to head to head which would put them ahead of cloudland. If cloudland wins they are first. I think you are right anyway....lol

  6. there will not be 17 put on this defense...that defense is violent right now.....if it happens it is because the second and 3rd team is on the field

    ...Booger just sayin

can't imagine there will be 56....coach will put the brakes on after 40, if they can put 40 on them...if we score those additional points, it is because Coalfield is worse than Booger thinkin

Coalfield starts or plays 4 freshmen. I know that they played 3 and 4 on defense last week against Oneida on tv. They didn't look very deep this year which makes it a lot like us. once starters goes out its a huge drop off. in most schools it just drops off a little

  7. Sweet E.....True what you say, however the Elite 32 in the highest classification ALL make the playoffs as well.  Chances are some of them could possibly have a losing record come playoff time too.  I'm just curious if they put much stock in their regular season since they get in the playoffs regardless of their season record.  You could even intentionally save elite players a couple of games late in the season to have them "fresh" for the playoffs.  I'm sure those schools with losing records are at least making a valiant effort at trying to win their games....while in the 32 (other than positioning) nothing really affects making to playoffs.

    Kazzy

I agree with you. I still don't see  it being fair for seven teams to fight for 4 spots in one region and only 3 or 4 in another.  maybe I am just flat out wrong on this idea?

  8. A guess:  Oneida, Coalfield, Sunbright, Greenback, Oakdale, Wartburg, and Jellico.  Of course I'm just guessing.  I don't know what OS enrollment put them?

    Kaz

As far as region 1 looks like there has to be at least 5 teams in class A.  4 playoff spots would be a joke with only 3 or 4 teams in the region. you would almost always have a team with a losing record in spot 4 I would bet.

  9. Are you an Oakdale guy? If so then as bad as I hate to say it I'd say y'all would have to play above the Oneida game and get a little luck (sorry I'm not trying to bash anyone). I'd say coalfield by 4 scores, maybe more, hope y'all prove me wrong. Any given Friday ya know.

Yes I am. Thanks for the input. I thought that they had improved, but also knew they are playing a lot of freshmen. My cousin said they are starting 4 and playing two of them on the d-line. offcourse the QB is not a typical frosh.

  10. Kaz...Crow.. or Whomever, I have a quick selfish question because TV can be deceiving at times.

How good do you think Coalfield really is? Have they improved that much or did you guys just get their best effort. I am only asking because this is the first time in a while we might have a real shot at upsetting them. I know it may still be a longshot. Just curious what your opinions are. Thanks

  11. Watch what you say Bass or you will have to come help me bail the water out of my boat!

Well OnB I have been reading your post on other threads....you always seem classy but you also manage to take a jab at someone too.  I use to really enjoy your post, but the more I read them the more I see that you think you are above many of us. even with a loss to Oneida you made comments about greenback just didn't play like greenback.  Hope you guys play like greenback and represent  East Tennessee this season. obviously everyone else is beneath you.

  12. I didn't mean to imply that y'all couldn't end up better than 7-3, hopefully you didn't take it that way, I apologize if it came across that way. If y'all don't win another or if you win out the program is showing tremendous growth. Hopefully it will continue. I've posted many times the respect I have for the players & coaches at oakdale. I've seen many games where there were only 2 or 3 players on the sideline & the starting 11 played every snap on offense, defense and special teams & not show any signs of letting up or any unsportsmanlike actions even when being down by an insurmountable deficit. That takes tremendous pride & heart & I'll always tip my hat to that. If that kind of pride, heart & effort continues & the program & community continue to buy in then I expect to see more good things in the future.

I did not take it that way at all. Listen I am a realist and you are exactly right. 6-4 would be a great year for us!

  13. Coalfield will definitely be a tough game for anyone but I think you have a great shot at 7-3 give or take a game either way heck you could be 9-1. We still gotta play Friday & from what I've saw & heard Oakdale is definitely moving the right direction. I'm tickled to death to see some wins coming your way. I'd love to see y'all get a home playoff game! Rockwood was packed, a home playoff game would be awesome!

You are probably right, but coalfield is starting at least 4 freshmen and I have heard playing a couple more a lot. So hopefully we can still one from them this year. They are always tough and well coached though. Heck 7-3 would be a great year too.
