  1. They'll all be D-II. Lipscomb, CPA, Nashville Christian, Goodpasture, Notre Dame, CAK, etc. They'll all be playing D-II.

The effect will be for Division II to expand to 3 Classes. Division I will then become 5 Classes. This will allow the TSSAA to retain their 8 State Championships in Football and as a result there is no income lost.

    Thanks for the input.

In your opinion, are there enough teams in D2 to have 3 quality divisions or will the championships be watered down?

Same for D1? Are there enough teams to field 5 quality classes?

I understand they (TSSAA) may want the revenue, but it takes away from earning a gold ball. Example: if a team like Alcoa does not play up, who can even get close to competing with them? I can see Milan being a solid team, can see many others on a consistent basis.

  2. Kudos to CPA and Coach M, missing state by a whisper with a team which everyone thought couldn't get out of district due to loosing 2 stars. Sometimes a team gets better when star players leave because it elevates everyone else's game who come back.

  3. What about:

    1. Coach Ramsey at DCA. He is C of C and won a title recently over Sonn.

    2. Keith Edwards at GP. Hasn't coached HS BB for a few years but went to DL. Did a good job at GP.

    3. Coach Maddux at CPA. Not sure he is C of C, coukd be a stretch, LA certainly has the money.

  4. The PC 11:

    1. I am not a soccer mom and have never owned a minivan. However, some of them are kinda sporty now.

    2. I was taking a tremendous amount of "cold" medicine when I posted that glowing review of Alcoa and reserve my editorial rights to retract it in whole, or part, when the goons (BC) make fun of me.

    3. CPA has tiny offensive and defensive line compared to Alcoa.

    4. CPA runs to the ball very well and has four LBs that are very good and a S that is their best player.

    5. CPA will not run the ball very well against Alcoa but will be happy with a few yards per carry.

    6. CPA has a very good QB and WRs. They will try to move the ball through the air. They had guys open all over the field against Liberty and could have exploited this if they wanted to.

    7. Both Liberty and CPA played on the same field so slips happened to both teams. Just an FYI.

    8. Did I mention how small CPAs lines were?

9.,CPA has very good special teams (coverage and returns). Field position could be big in this game.

    10. CPA is much faster and better overall IMO than CAK which looking at the scores only this could be a better game.

    11. For clarification I have two football playing sons and only one soccer/basketball playing daughter. Im 2/3 football dad and only 1/3 soccer dad. :) Booger is 100% soccer dad. :)

    Prediction: Alcoa by 3.

As far as number 3 and 8, CPA may be smaller on the weight side, but they are trained to be much stronger than the other teams they play, they use leverage and superior strength. They should out muscle Alcoa on both sides of the line.

  5. Congrats to the Cubs and I apologize for my posts that implied 3-7 teams should not have been in the playoffs. They knew the criteria, played their season well, met the criteria, and had a great experience, especially for the seniors who will never forget they made the playoffs. Been a tough last 3 years for CC, but hopefully they will continue to rebuild and be back to the great program they have been in the past. Love their fans passion.

    Classy post nerd, well done.

I foresee a matchup coming with CPA and Liberty. If so, who will be home team? Do they go by record or do they have a similar method as the old quad system where the alternate each year?

  6. You're right you didn't but you obviously needed it. Bigchief and his family are great ambassadors for the school so you should look him up. I'm certain he can help you find ways to help GPS to get it back to where it used to be.

Wanting to fight a guy on here because he disagreed with you isn't how rational adults act. The guy basically didnt say anything controversial and you became a rage monster. Its great both of you are passionate about GPS so put that to good use and help whenever and wherever you can. There are lots of good coaches, students, teachers and family's there working hard every day. Good luck to them and you!!!

Is big chief the headmaster of Goodpasture?

  7. I had no problem with Lipscomb or TIllman until about 9:00 Friday night.

It was a running clock. If you take a knee with 22 seconds left even with 4th down, Goodpasture never gets on the field to run a play. Eliminates the next bad decision right there.

I have many friends associated with both the high school and college. I am on the campus all the time. That will not change because of this. Again the only "issue" I have is with poor sportsmanship in a leadership postion. Unfortunately this kind of crap has become more the rule than the exception.

    Good luck to you.

    BigChief

Just wandering if you called the academy to discuss with the head coach or if you have had time to cool off and reconsider your position? I would believe that two C of C coaches could reasonably discuss if this was intentional and work it out. Good luck for the rest of the year.

  8. I heard from around a couple of coaches in the Metro area that East Nashville is going to be down from previous years. I also heard that Stratford is pulling in some major talent and about to be a major player in the region.

Stratford had a really good program several years ago with Joe Campbell and I believe Cory Fleming went there? No surprise they may be a contender again.

  9. I would say CPA first by far, East Nash and WHH battling for second place. Whites creek and Goodpasture will fight it out for last place. Let's face it, GP lost the program when Martin was let go. He possibly wasn't Mr personality, but neither is Nick Saban and I don't hear too many Alabama fans complaining. The OL coach who was let go at the same time would have been HC in waiting, he is now at WHH I believe so it should be an interesting game to circle this fall when they meet in the district.

  10. Watched GP the other night in basketball for the first time this season. Apparently all isn't dead at GP in regards to getting athletes. The new player they got this season in basketball is a "STUD" and here they are getting some in football also. Heard several JPII kids are coming.

I'm assuming that you had a kid at GP who graduated in 2014? If not, then please excuse this. It is a well known fact that the GP class of 2014 was one of, if not the best class of both male and female athletes this school has had for some time. Add to this is the fact that GP dropped down to 2a in 2014 in football and 1a in all other sports. Correct me if I am wrong, but all GP has to show for this is 1 title in VB. Baseball and basketball had very good runs and were barely defeated in state. Other than this the rest of the sports were disasters. Softball had a terrible year not even getting out of district. I saved the best for last, football. No offense to TC, Grace, other teams, but this team was LOADED with senior FB talent and I'm not just referring to number 29. They were preseason ranked 1. Sure the HC was responsible and now he is gone. In addition, one assistant left in 2014. However, my understanding is that every other coach and admin who was directly or indirectly responsible is still on campus. Everyone who was involved in this mockery should be held accountable, if not, then hiring JP2s head coach is not going to chage much much less getting more stud athletes in the door.
