The Cougars returned the majority of starters from last year's 10-win team that reached the Class 3A quarterfinals, but they have struggled against Division II competition this season. Goodpasture will have a size advantage along both lines and can rely on four junior playmakers — RB/LB Julius Elders (5-foot-11, 205 pounds), RB/DB Jacob Seals (5-9, 160), RB/LB Samuel Macauley (5-8, 175) and WR/FS Ammon Turner (6-1, 175). Top-ranked South Pittsburg is coming off a physical and emotional win over county rival Whitwell last week, a victory that secured the Region 3-1A title. But the Pirates were fatigued in the second half, which allowed Whitwell to dominate the final quarter and will make conditioning a point of emphasis beginning tonight. Junior FB Garrett Raulston and senior RB Sawyer Kelley have been the workhorses on offense, but the Pirates will need to continue working on their passing with young QBs Jaylyn Hubbard and Brayden Sanders for the balance they'll need in the playoffs.

GP lost 6 really good seniors from last years team. 3 of those guys were all state. GP most definitely will not be bigger than you guys up front. GP’s size on both of the lines is what is killing them the most. SP’s FB is bigger than any lineman they have and GP is starting 2 Freshmen in the secondary.

Yeah, I was happy to see those clean shirts in at the end.  I was amazed that a few freshmen were starters on the defense, you have to think that might be a good thing in a couple years. And, if he can get protection next year, I bet your QB has a big throwing year given the new sophomore receiver and #8.  Is #8 related to the receiver that went to USC?

    # 8 isn’t related to Patrick Turner as far as I know.

CFAfan isn’t necessarily a CPA fan but a follower of football in the midstate.  And the last interception and score wasn’t actually a 3rd string but Freshman that got to dress out for the game.  I wouldn’t be too down on them for last night, anyone could predict that was going to happen even the kids on the team. However, FRA winning like they did puzzled me.

CFAfan!! We will have to agree to disagree. GP does have a drop in talent however they are not being coached up either. Congratulations on the win last night I like to see how far CPA can go .

The worst coached GP team I have ever watch. GP did not score until CPA’s 2nd String was in the game while playing starters till late in the 4th. Also GP add a score late on 3 string. Totally out coached on offense looked pitiful, at what point do you do something different.

To be fair, it was also a freshman that had the Int. and the late TD.
