  1. I honestly thought it was off of us too, I won't lie. But, you're kidding yourself if you don't think Powell's coach wouldn't have done the same thing c'mon now lol. You think if that play had of been reversed and happened on Powell's bench their coach wouldn't have been arguing it went off of us? C'mon man, lets be real, of course he would've. Silly to say he wouldn't have. I thought it was off of us, but y'all got some good calls, too. Sucks it works out that way and I'd be upset if I were you too, but just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Both teams played their hearts out.

Hate to sound like sour grapes, the Cats are a great team. It just sux to be so close to beating a great team and something like that leave a doubt. Respectfully I am going to have to disagree, Barnes would have never lobbied that call like Green did. The bottom line is that the better team won, now go take care of business and make the east proud.

  2. Gratz to the Cats, good luck moving forward. I have a question for you cat fans. What do you think about how green works the refs? I get a coach needs to take up for his boys with the referees, but to lobby that out of bounds call infront of his bench and get it overturned was disgusting, everyone in the gym knows it should have been Powell's ball. Would it have made a difference, down 3 with under a minute at OR is not a good place to be, but we'll never know.

  3. yes I'd say you guys go undefeated. I David early on that we were all playing for second place. Were all pretty close 2-9.

    As for surprises and disappointments?

AC for sure in the surprise. Wallace has done a good job with the team. His out of conference was a way to teach them how to win again and they should be proud.

Gibbs? I'm personally not surprised. I said early on this thread they'd be the most improved team in district. They could finish second, but yes that would be a surprise.

CC ? About right were I thought. If they finish higher than 4th, they'd be a surprise. If they finish strong on their home stand they could finish 2nd or 3rd. That'd be a surprise.

Powell? Might be a little of a disappointment, but they are being hit really hard with injuries. Not just injuries, but key injuries, plus their nowhere as well coached as the ogan teams. If they finish higher than 4th their lucky.

Karns? About right what I thought, along with Clinton.

To me, central is the biggest disappointment. Halls I'd close, but I thought central was going to turn the corner this year, in Higgins 4th season, 3 wins at this point is not where they should be.

Halls started the season off with players on suspension and just don't seem to have gelled. Players jawing each other, coach with son as player can be rough. Plus coaching both the girls and boys all these years could be taking its mental toll.

Have to disagree with ya about Coaching quality at Powell, like you said currently hit very hard with injuries, got beat in overtime at Gibbs Thursday with only one of last years letterman on the floor and he's a junior. Don't get me wrong, I was a big Organ fan but Barnes is doing a fine job.

  4. I thought there was a pool of coaches lined up for the job? 2 guys, your kidding? I guess all those coaches went down to the local barber shop and got an ear full. I'm guessing some coaches removed there name and some applied for the job w/o the right certification? Powell high school at one time was a football team to be taken serious, and now it's a dead zone.

    Haters gotta hate......lol

  5. New poster, long time reader here. I've been keeping up with this topic quite a bit. When do they plan on having a coach in place? I know that Powell traditionally has been a good job. Here lately, not so much, but is there potential there to turn that thing around and have a legit contender again?

all jokes aside it appears that the hiring committee has narrowed it down to a few very qualified candidates, Powell will bounce back a little quicker than implied in this thread in my opinion. With the new districts West and South Doyle should be the powers to beat but both lose a lot from what I've heard. Halls, Gibbs, Heritage, Karns and Farragut are the others on the schedule for next year that I can remember so a few more wins than last year is attainable. THe cupboard in Powell is not bare and the kids are still hungry, it only gets better from here.
  6. I bet Powell didn't miss 5 3 pointers all night out of about 20. Only thing that kept them close in the game I felt like. We are going to be really good later in the year. Is it just me or does Middleton have one of the softest touches down near the rim? Guy has a great touch down low. When him and Tee whip into basketball shape we will be tough to deal with.

not to sure about us having 45 from behind the arc? OR is very solid at all positions and very athletic, and like you said when those two get in basketball shape you will be even better. Cudos to OR defense Powell had way to many turnovers.
  7. I'm sure not gonna listen to a sports writer whose paper doesn't even give Chatt Central the time of day in any article but now wants to pretend he knew about parents calling for Allen's head when he parted ways with the trainer.

So am I to understand similar allegations were raised before?

I hope not for the committee/panel that hired him, that would go over like a ! * in the punch bowl in Pantherland.

  8. I have known Coach Allen for years, and I have never known him intentionally put a kid in danger. He has worked his tail off every where he has been. Thing about Coach Allen is he tells it like it is, or at least the way he sees it. I have never had a problem with him, and know for a fact he is a very good coach. Coach Allen will not have a problem finding a new job. I would say Powell has a bigger problem than he does.

I'm not sure where you observed his coaching skills but I'm glad he did a good job, but what I as well as anyone else who follows Panther football will tell you is that we got WORSE each week because after each loss he took over more facets of the team. With either Rang or Kilgore we would have been 6-4/ 5-5 this season. Heck, with the Coordinators we had in the spring we might have won 6 but he was bound and determined to run his proclaimed Wing-T so he got rid of the OC and the DC said see ya in the same meeting. As for his Wing-T, Webb runs the Wing-T, we run a bunch of poorly schemed plays out of a formation that resembled a Wing T. As for the rest I guess we will just have to wait and see, imo.......90% of Powell's problem will be gone when the smoke clears.

  9. What comes around goes around, the way they did Rang then you got what you deserve. That comes from a Maryville fan here.

The Powell folks were very happy with Rang....His raw deal was dealt from downtown in Knox County Administration, and NO these kids in Powell did not deserve what they got. We do not have the luxury here in Knox County to have a Coach earn 6 figures+ for coaching. If we did your dynasty would wither on the vine.
  10. As we win tonight let's not forget how the Hixson crowd cheered and laughed as Funk and Carson got hurt in this rivalry last year. Remember they are a dirty bunch. Remember one of our best players went there after leaving us. Remember their fans talking smack. Remember we had them beat but gave it up on the 3 yard line. Remember all this as we destroy Howard and go on to make things right with Hixson.

    Good luck tonight.

tis....apologies for the comment on panther thread, everyone telling me you might be impersonating someone but I'm not to sure now. Anyway we are also now entering our post "Allen" recovery phase...he is gone as of today
