Ball game! If you think what #14 did was dirty, pick up tennis. Meigs has a pretty solid team, if you take #5 off the field you had a chance to win. DIRTY, and couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Never good. Safe travels to Meigs, on to Tyner….. after the Vols beat Georgia that is!!!  GO EAGLES, and GO VOLS!!!

Made some good points. That has hurt us a couple times this year. That one kid is good for a penalty a game for something like that. He had a big one against Marion that really hurt us but also took a 4th and 1 about 60 yards for a TD.

He has the potential to be a pretty solid player if he can learn to cool it down and play team ball.

Good luck with Tyner. It only gets tougher.

I think we will have to throw more next Friday to win that game against a better defense. I think if we run the same play’s it will be a long night. IMO

I feel we have some great athletes currently and the last several years but just feel we don't spread the ball around enough to keep good defenses honest. I think to be considered a strong offense we need to be more balanced.

Over the years it has shown as we advance.

This year #5, 10, 13, 23. And 25 have made a couple nice catches and have the ability to make plays but we seem to only pass maybe a couple times a game when it's extremely obvious.

Marion was playing their best ball of the year the last two games. Their offense was really strong and defensively just above average. We scored 35 against a good team. Yes, I believe we have a pretty stout offense this late in the season. Ok to disagree though. We just see it differently.

I think both teams got the capability to be pretty good offensively but need to do a little more.  They both do have some talented players.

Meigs had three nice pass plays when they really needed them to three different athletes.  #10, #13  and number #5 made some nice grabs for first downs but I think that was our only three completions.

With the QB and 23 and that senior FB running it they got some options.

When we play tougher and bigger teams it's gets difficult just trying to run over them.

I'm still confused how Marion couldn't figure out or stop our QB from going left.

Excluding Tyner and Tellico the other teams in our region  were very close in talent. When that happens alot of times coaching comes into play to make it a deciding factor. The game last night showcased two pretty strong offenses. Neither defense was able to slow the opposing offense down.

I agree with you about the neither defense not being able to stop each other but I don't necessarily believe it was a showcase of two strong offenses either.

Meigs was getting nothing running up the middle. The only play that was working was the QB keeper running to the left side. I can't figure why Marion couldn't stop that. You could hear their fans screaming from across the field their running the same play.

Look what Tyner Defense and even Polk and Bledsoe Defenses did against Marion and Meigs.

I wouldn't classify either as a strong offense.

I also said our qb would be the difference.

I think it was more their offensive line than number 4 the second half.

You was right about our QB.  Meadows ran hard and made a couple nice throws when he needed to. He also took couple big hits and kept trucking

  6. Someone said Meigs wouldn't let one guy beat them. They better contain number 4. He is wearing them out.

4th and 12 and he takes the pass for one T.D.

Then 1 timeout and about a minute to go and 70 yards and he gets loose for couple big plays.

On one play Meigs had a DB covering him up on the line and another guy behind that DB about 10 yards.

    He is slippery.

It's going to be a good second half hopefully

Our pass defense is alot better thr last few games.

I dont think it was much of a challenge against Basin or Polk but they held their own against Tyner for awhile. They did miss several tackles that led to some big yardage plays.

I think Tyner helped us out dropping some balls and making some mistakes. They didn't look as good as what I seen previously in film but give our guys credit. That could be from our guys getting pressure or playing decent coverage.

I think we have the advantage against Marion. They don't have the weapons Tyner has. We just got to keep that Pickett under wraps and don't let him get loose for too many big plays.

Everyone sells our kiddos and coaches short. They have the hearts of warriors. Signal Mountain was a very good team we beat last week. Meigs County barely beat them this year. Our kiddos took care of business like they should have done. I believe we have better players than Meigs. Meigs beat us last year because Taye got hurt. He was going to score a touchdown if you remember the game. That is the only reason we did not win then. I believe in our players and coaches. We will play this game really hard and be winners in the end. Coach Starkey had us playing real hard last week. He even got our kiddos some more uniforms for our seniors. If we win this game then the sky is the limit in the playoffs. The only team that we probably can not beat is Tyner. They have a bunch of older kiddos and we have a bunch of younger ones. Regardless it is always a great day to be a warrior.

Come on now. This is madness. Meigs went in to Marion last year and hit those boys hard. They was trying to run the clock out or might have put up another score. Injuries hurt. Meigs has had more than their share last couple years.

We could say injuries have kept Meigs from hoisting a couple State Championships.

I do feel however after watching that Signal and Marion game on T.V. that Marion is legit. Meigs better but a couple kids on that number 4 and not let him get any space or he will end up in the end zone.

I expect it to be a good game. Marion passed the ball more than I expected and Meigs struggles with pass D.

Tyners speed and just plain big dudes are wearing on Meigs. Meigs can't cover the pass.

Meigs has not been able to cover the pass or make tackles in space for years. They can stop the run though. They are hanging in. That was a big touchdown to end the half. That hurts.

Yeah, running up the middle won't work on that many in the box. With their speed it will be hard to get to the outside. We aren't doing terribly though just need to spread them out some.  Tyner 7 Meigs 0 end of the first.

It won't last long. They just look better. I don't see us stopping them. It's a struggle for us to get 10 yards in 4 downs

    Tyner 7-0

It could get ugly fast. Our guys are waiting to make tackles. They got to be aggressive and go tackle instead of setting back on their heels.

Offense can't get anything going. Got to try something besides running up the middle. Tyner has some big boys and are putting 8 and 9 in the box

Meigs is the best team we faced this season so far. Gonna be a good one for sure

Tyner has played Marion and Bledsoe. Meigs will not be the best team you have faced.

Bledsoe beat our boys in Decatur. That is a big statement. Meigs had chances to win the game but they didn't.

We only had 14 points against Polk before we punched that last score in the last minute last week to win 21 to 0.

I have been to all our games and watched several Marion and Tyner games on film. Meigs can play with Marion and that should be a great game to end the season at home for Meigs and will be huge for playoff positioning. I still feel however Marion has the better team. I would almost guarantee they will put a pretty good whipping on Polk tomorrow night.

Tyner however has a huge advantage over Meigs. I thought they were the better team last year when they came to Meigs. They were the younger team then facing a team that had been to state and was expected to go back with several all-state players and a Mr. Football Candidate. They looked like the better team last year and almost pulled the upset barely missing that 2 point conversion.

Watching those seniors on film this year they look tough. Miss one tackle and its a touchdown. They are solid all around and look like they are on a mission.

I am still pulling for Meigs however. I hope we can make a game out of it and keep it close. It will take some big plays and turnovers to do that I believe.

To be honest and not taking anything away from Bledsoe because they won the game at that time, but Meigs is a total different team now they’ve gotten some starters back since that game and the young guys are playing really good football the QB has gotten better every game. And not saying they will win Friday but I think they will definitely be a hard out come playoff time IMO.

I have been to all of Meigs games and do feel that they are becoming a better football team every week. The QB had never played a game in high school at the start of the season. I feel that they had several opportunities to win the game against Bledsoe and should have won that game. I hope they learned from it.

I have also watched Marion and Tyner on film and just feel they are both overall better football teams than Meigs. Tyner by far. I do think Meigs can play with Marion at home and that should be a great game to end the season but they will have to play their best game yet to win it.

As for this Friday night I think Meigs needs to continue to focus on improving and play with everything they got. It will take everything they got to hang with Tyner and I still feel they will need some help. They are going to need some turnovers and or big plays to make it a game.

Tyner had Meigs beat last year at home and went for the 2 point conversion and failed. They looked like the better team last year when they were all Juniors and Meigs had all those Seniors including 3 or 4 All-State players and a Mr. Football Candidate.

I am pulling for Meigs but they are going to have to pull off a major upset.

My greatest fear at this point is we continue to play offensively like we are and we are good enough to win the next 4 games but when it comes to the games like Tyner, Marion and playoffs we will struggle.
these next 4 games we need to work on perfecting the weak spots in our secondary and get in a offense and get better.

I think they are good enough to win the next four or five games but they could just as easily let a couple of them slip away. Signal and Polk on the road will be tough ones and that Polk county game is a big region contest. At least Marion County to close it out is at home. Tyner is on a different level.  Our team from last year had trouble with them and they pretty much got all their skill players returning.

Hopefully the boys will get it figured out and come together. If not they might be setting at home watching the playoffs

Probably don’t have the talent that we had in years past but there is plenty to win a lot of games and play better than we have been playing. Surly we can all agree on that.
This team reminds me of our good team about 10 years back or so with their physical brand. We just have to get busy with it. Get the pieces in place and roll. Then it will open up for qb more also. Defense is almost there it seems. Maybe tighten up that secondary. Maybe that new kid at wr can help some there also.

Looking at the schedule I would agree with you. They could just as easily be 3 and 0 or 0-3.  We will see what these guys are made up of the next several weeks and how bad they want it.  That game at Polk County looks a lot tougher every week and Tyner and Marion to finish it off. I mentioned about making a deep run in the playoffs. It is hard to get a read on this team. They continue this trend they might not even make the playoffs.

They definitely need to play better than they have been playing and clean up the mistakes.

To be able to hang in there with as many mistakes and misfortunes they have had says something about their will.

Little of everything.  We can do different things we just have to commit to something and go. One strength we have  is all our backs seem to have have good hands. Let’s throw the short passes to the backs and let them work.
Something else. I haven’t seen many injuries this year. We seem to be a healthy team. Plenty of talent we just gotta get a identity and roll with it and improve weekly.  I think that’s what OP was saying

I like the short passes. We got a couple of backs that run tough and can make some plays but  I don't know how much talent we actually have compared to years past however. I have been hearing people say they are young and have the talent but I am not so sure after watching these first three games. We have had several all region players and a couple all state players on teams for the last five or six years. I just do not see it with this team.  They have a couple solid ballplayers but overall I don't see the gamechangers.

They do not have the size or speed. Bledsoe looked like the better team last Friday. Sweetwater looked like the better team the first weekend. Too many mistakes, penalties, turnovers, and players yapping at each other.

I do feel that they can compete however with most of the teams on their schedule but I don't see a deep run into the playoffs unless they get some things worked out.
