The last hometown person was Mike Casteel who ran the place like the old Maryville High.

The students loved Mike Casteel ! And the director couldnt stand that so she fired him. But we finally git rid of that little family cabal as well.

your name is the title of one of his songs.  I imagine you meant gray rider based on your battle flag, but i wasn't sure.

nonetheless, it's not like maryville, or it's interests, are a secret.  heck, I imagine most of those northerners move there on purpose.

Yes , you imagine correctly. That is a good song lol

You are right that athletics and especially football help both culturally and financially. But you are dead wrong in saying that when Maryville moved to 6A it was the beginning of the end. Maryville has won 6 championships since moving to 6A, runner-up for 4 others. Although the competition is definitely better, that is not the issue. Maryville has the talent and resources to compete for a championship every single year. The issue the last few years has all started from the top, the administration, not buying in or caring about football or athletics. That shows in many different ways and areas. They were always going to take a step back whenever GQ left, but Coach Hunt is a great leader and very good head coach. I do have some questions on decisions they've made in recent years on some assistant coaches and some on-field schemes, and think those decisions have hurt them. But the sooner they get the administration issue fixed, the better. That's the main issue in my opinion.

MCS has made the mistake of bringing in outsiders from knox co etc to administrate their system.  All of the covid bs was terrible and I had words with several of them about that.  My last 2 sons that played , we couldnt go onto the field after the games but we could all bunch up in the corner by the stadium. It was nothing but a power play.  I told the top 2 after we beat the heck out of Farragut that is was a darn shame that we couldnt go onto the field that we paid for bit that they could. So I told the AD that the Sr players and the parents were going onto the field the next game and he could be a hero and set it up, we went on the field.  Again these arrogant bloated administrations and their heavy handed discipline of our children are the problem. I bucked them and I beat them all the time from cell policies to other bs issues that they created.  When you , the parent stand ip to them they fold like a chair. The problems at MCS is all the left wing admins from outside MARYVILLE.  MARYVILLE has always been different because they paved their own way but they have been infiltrated and weakened by the weak knox co infiltrators.  Having said that there are a few little red faced guys running around like they own the place that need to hang it up... you cant go back Brent so leave the kids alone. No you could NEVER control me and you never will lmao.

That's one of the reasons we have a major shortage of officials. Everyone wants the ones we have now gone but the majority of them are well over fifty and when they retire or quit the game of high school football will be in trouble.

True to a point ... but one of the main reasons is that there isnt much integrity in many of them. I have witnessed that just as many of you have. And even have video proof lol.

Keep looking thru those red tinted glasse Pep. That was more penalties on Alcoa then a the games they have played ALL YEAR. Enjoy the gift. Alcoa had 5 turnovers. Thats on them. Three passes right to a white jersey.  Murvul got a huge gift. Don't blow this gift in the first round  of the playoffs. It maybe hard without all the flags going your way.

If they had called every blatant holding call we would still be there ...

Seeing maryville is in 3rd I HIGHLY doubt maryville will meet Bradley again. They’ll meet bearden again prob 2nd round then a bad #### team for rd 3. Bradley mad 300 yards of penalties lastnight and still won. Those refs could not beat them. I’m not worried a single bit about Bradley. Not a single bit…. They were predicted to be state champs before the season even began but TSSAA officials lol there’s a thread dating back to august on that.

Yes officiating is terrible. Has been for a decade since that big retirement .  But the are a few places where it always has been.  If you cant be a grown man and be impartial then dont pit on the stripes.

I think he was asking us lol (Bradley) we got whoop up on bearden next week first haha. Gonna be a tough game but we should be able to do it. Home field, seenu or night… last game to lock in 10-0 it’s gonna be wild

Good luck hope you lock it in.

You miss the point sister,

How many years did they whine about murvul not wanting to play "big boy football" Huh, tell me? :popcorneater:

Then the SAMETHING comes Alcoa's way via CoachT?

The hypocrisy is.......it WAS murvul doing all the barking? Wow!!  CRY BABIES!

BTW,  That feller stole your man wallet! No buffet for you. :thumb:

Naah not really but if it makes you feel better I guess it better than yiu having to take xanx

No one is saying that. Alcoa is a great team and a big favorite tonight. You’re trying to create a “narrative” that isn’t there. They’re in 2 completely different classes, so there will always be comparisons. That’s part of the rivalry. But no one is discounting what Alcoa has done. How bout we just enjoy two big time championship programs that are a couple miles apart getting to battle each other every year.

    Cheap gold

I 100% agree with you on this. I wish we would drop this rivalry and pick up Oak Ridge. I don’t care if we have to drive 30 more miles. We don’t need to play a 2A team anyway, it’s embarrassing. We own Alcoa. The record is 67-24-3. The record speaks volumes.

    Yes it does

Not to mention the kid kicking in the pile at the end of the half. He could have been ejected. Or the kid making gestures at the visitors crowd. Same old same old. It doesn’t and will not matter as alco will cruise to another 2A state title. They will dominate the rest of the way.

It was a great atmosphere by the hosts last night!

    Cheap gold bro

Really hate you feel that way but Maryville had one also unless you forgot. The defensive back going over the receivers back was another one that I heard a lot of fussing about last night but that was the right call. The only one I really feel that shouldn't have been made was the first one when it was a delayed call which sets off dynamite when that happens, either call it fast or forget it. Don't let the fans talk you into it. A big part of the holding calls were when Alcoa came around the ends. One kid from Maryville's shoulder pads were pulled right out of his jersey it was so obvious. Alcoa loves to intimidate these small schools with the chest thumping and all the rest of that nonsense those kids look up to but that don't iron as well on these bigger teams. Please don't feel as if Alcoa is the only one that gets the short end of the stick, we feel the same way on all the holding calls that are not called by Mr. Talbot who is a Heritage Grad and daughter who taught at Alcoa last year. How do you think we fell about the time Tee Hodge was picked up and slammed to the ground and not called. I'm still amazed to this day that didn't break his neck and the crowd cheered it on they hate Maryville so much like a pack of wild animals. Dirty26 it works both ways. Sometimes I think some from Alcoa get their live wrestling and football rules mixed up.

Kind of like the play from 2 yrs ago when Don Talbot stood in the endzone and watched alcoa's QB throw a pass for a 1st down from underneath the goalpost ...lmfao

No offense, but from what I’ve seen the players just aren’t there at Maryville that have always been there. There’s only so much a staff can do, when you ain’t got the jimmy’s and joe’s. Plus Ladue being out, and isn’t the QB a backup as well? That’s tough to overcome.

    Not buying that
