1. Community beat Chapel Hill Monday. Pitching struggled for Chapel Hill.

Leland Brothers hits another 3 run homer 3rd one within a week but sounds like it could not match up with the hitting of Community. Brothers batting avg around 450 with 6 or 7 homers and a bucket full of rbi"s MVP consideration ?

  2. Much neded win for the Champs. Community has improved as much as any team in the district. They could cause some problems in the tournament.

Chapel Hill beats Community Saturday 13-1 Pitching struggled for Community. Leland Brothers hits another 3 run HR

  3. Does Forrest not understand that it is not proper baseball etiquete to wear white at away games? The past two years I've watched them play at MTCS and both times they wore white. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Also praying for those in our district, be safe everyone. The storms aren't done yet!

Why in the world would someone post something like this ? And then say they are praying for there safety. Sounds hypocritical !

  4. Not that it matters but the score was actually Forrest 10 Eagleville 7. Eagleville continues to struggle to find a solid number 2 pitcher, although the kid that finished the game only gave up 3 hits and neither of the runs he gave up in the inning he entered the game were earned, bases were loaded when he came in, he hit a batter and gave up one hit in that inning. After that he gave up the other two hits and nothing else. Same kid held Summertown to 1 run over 5 innings before being pulled. So lets just say he gets my vote.

10 to 7 my mistake SOOOO sorry !!!

  5. I would say most of the teams that made state last year will compete at state again this year. Cascade, Richland, Summertown, Lookout Valley, Rockwood, Friendship, and many others will have a shot at winning it all. If Cascade continues to have great pitching support behind Mo Mo they will be a hard out. I dont know if they are the best in the state but I know they can play with anyone. Good luck to all teams this season.

I have seen Rockwood,Lookout Valley and Cascade play. Cascade is no match for the other two.

  6. I am a Forrest parent and I was chanting overrated at the end of the game, but I was also chanting Lady Rockets at the end of the game. I was very proud of our girls and the game they came out and played. I also thoroughly have enjoyed watching the high quality games between Forrest and MTCS in the last several years. Over the last few weeks we have had the "drama" everyone has spoken of with one of our players transferring to MTCS ( of course she has the right to do this).....what should not have happened however, is the fact that our girls have been treated like dirt by this very player and others at MTCS,by turning their backs when our kids are introduced, by holding up a Forrest t-shirt marked over rated and having their pictures taken with the shirt at the game and then forwarding this to all the players at Forrest, with our transfer student right there in the mix. I feel MTCS parents should have reined in their kids at this point, about the way they were acting against Forrest. If none of this would have happened, the game most definately would not have had the added chant of "overrated" at the end of the game. In some respects, I agree this is kid stuff and we as parents have the responsibility to uphold good sportsmanship as an example to our children, but I am not sure that a few of us chanting overrated, because we were called overrated, constitutes a huge breach of this responsibility. I believe Forrest players and fans have a reputation for being classy and supporting our girls. I have a rather "loud voice" and pride myself on not being negative and cheering on my team with all my heart.....So I will end this by saying Best Wishes to MTCS as they continue, they are a great team, I hope to meet them again. As always GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!! Great game girls and also congrats to all the ladies in the District on the All season and All Tournament Teams...Way to go!

One other point I need to make and then I will be quiet ( believe it or not )... I in no way meant that I feel MTCS is "overrated" by my chant, obviously they are are great team....I was reacting to the fact that Forrest is not "overrated" as they said, and as a somewhat rabid fan of these girls I was cheering for them.... not against MTCS , I meant no disrespect to MTCS.

I have known this transfer student and her family for many years. I knew when she left Shelbyville there would be more trouble to follow her. It has followed her from Unionville to Shelbyville to Chapel hill and now to MTCS. All this has stemmed from her actions which is not really her fault but her parents because she is just a child.I know many people from all these schools and it is ashame one person can cause people to get on this board and talk about another school.Actually this is what she wants. We all have to learn hard lessons in this life but shame on her parents for guiding her down this road. To the parents, you have three more children, basketball is not the most important thing in this life. How many points you score will not earn you eternal life.To all the other schools forgive as you have been forgiven. I will be praying for this child and her family!!!!!

  7. Cascade will be tough with Coach Parker's work ethic and enthusiasm. He most definately will have them ready. I think MTCS has been hurt by graduations and transfers but should not be overlooked.

Forrest should be right there at the top if they do what it takes to remove the errors defensively. They have several great hitters but no dominate pitcher. Eagleville has Blackwell. Community somwhere in the middle. FC BOYD ? VAN BUREN?

  8. Good to gave you back Vegas!! But Community #1 already. They beat Hampshire and CTown. Does that earn them the #1 spot? I don't think so. Until your boys get a winning attitude and can play in your face defense for four quarters they will continue to have the same results.

ps No place in 9a for lazy defense!!

  9. QUOTE(Lady DawgDad @ May 29 2007 - 11:11 PM) 826468935Cascade11 this is not a private school/public school debate. This is just simply right or wrong, public school or private school. I only know what I have read on this forum, I don't have a dog in the race. But, if the girl in question played high school softball for Culleoka last year and she tranfered to Forrest this year and she did not move to Chapel Hill she should be ineligible. It doesn't matter how much she is trying to enjoy high school or how much she was done wrong by Culleoka dropping softball this year. I was in the same situation myself back several years ago. I transfered from one school to another and I had to sit out one calender year. I wanted to enjoy my high school as well but I had to do it with one less year of eligibility. It doesn't matter if she is tranferring from Culleoka to Forrest or from Forrest to FCS it has to be done within the TSSAA rules. Like your claim, I love this game as well. I would only want to get beat by teams playing by the same rules as me. If I was a Cascade fan and I had finished second in my district behind a team that had an ineligible player I would be wanting someone to step in and penalize the offending team public or private.

I was told by the AD at Forrest that the player in question also has two brothers that go to Forrest but younger. The whole family gave a change of adress and utliity bills in there name that were in Marshall co. District which clear the player to play.

  10. QUOTE(cascade11 @ May 25 2007 - 01:08 PM) 826466983Was Forrest able to pull Shelby and rest her for this afternoon? She's thrown alot of innings this week. I wish them the best today! Hang tough Shelby, I know you can do it!!!!!!

Shelby pitched a great game (7 innings)

    Play again at 5pm (TCA)

  11. QUOTE(brichard @ May 8 2007 - 03:17 PM) 826454613I have just looked through all the Time-Gazette articles about Cascade baseball this year and I cannot find this exact quote. I did see a reference to the fact that Mr Minor had been a "burr under our saddle". I would really like to see where Coach Parker made a comment about Cacade starting to "dominate district 9A". I want to see that because if he did say exactly what you are attributing to him, then this quote is completely out of character. Coach Parker is always very quick to give credit to every team that Cascade plays and preaches to his team how they can never overlook anyone. Did you actually read this in the T-G, or did someone tell you that he said this? I am not saying you are incorrect, just that this quote does not sound anything like Coach Parker and it sounds like maybe two or three different quotes that have been taken out-of-context and compressed into a single quote.

I am sure Forrest will be extremely good again very soon. History states that they will be. However, anyone looking for Cascade to slide back to the middle of the pack had better look at their roster. Three seniors. All three will be greatly missed, but Cascade is not hurting for talent in the future either. I really do not see a day when any school, be it Cascade, Forrest, or any of the others in the district, are going to dominate year after year. Just like the year before last, just like last year, just like this year, the team with the most consistent pitching will win. And, Forrest may never have another Mikie Minor, just like Cascade may never have another duo like Momo Stewart and Tyler Bowman.

Seriously, though, if you have access to either an electronic copy, or a hard copy, of the article where Coach Parker said Cascade would start dominating the district, I would like to either have a link to the electronic copy, or have a copy of the hard copy. Like I said, I am not disputing you, I just want a copy of the article since I have all the other articles about Cascade baseball this year. I don't want to miss an article, nor miss the opportunity to joke with Coach Parker about it during football season.

You work for times gazette so you should know.

    How is a 4-3 and 7-6 win = domination?

  13. QUOTE(justafanman22 @ May 8 2007 - 01:52 PM) 826454549In interpreting the rule, there are 2 key phrases. "ordinary effort" and my rule book states "umpire's discretion". It is a judgement call and therefore is unprotestable. Having umpired for many years the rule is typically used when an infielder will routinely make the play. Most umpires use the term "camped" when determining whether it should be called or not. If an infielder is "camped" TSSAA typically trains the ump to call the IFR at that point. On a ball into shallow left in which neither player is "camped", the IFR cannot be called. I don't know any of these kids but I know that both schools have solid programs. With that being said, a fair and unbiased umpire will never assume that a play is going to be made until the player is "camped" as this is the key for the player establishing "ordinary effort". I remember one instance in a high school game I was watching when I saw a shallow pop-up where the umpire immediately called the IFR. As the shortstop drifted back into LF he tripped and fell flat on his face and the ball landed 15 feet to his right. The batter was out because the umpire had prematurely made the call...but he had to stand by his call. I can say that in some cases these calls can cost a team heavily. I know this had to be hard for the boys from Forrest. However, from the accounts posted, it appears the umpire made the correct call.

Quote from Shelbyville Times Gazette from Cascade coach " Mikie Minor has been a burr under our saddle for four years and now that he is gone we will start dominating district 9A" Forrest lost most of their team to graduation last year. This year we are rebuilding with alot of young talent. Any comments on the future or how do you think our rebuilding is progressing? Also a very good 8th grade class coming up.

Congrats to Senior academic honors players Brian Whitley, Chase Beaulieu, Andy Burkett

  14. QUOTE(baseballlover @ Apr 27 2007 - 11:44 AM) 826446840They are also beneficiaries of a very weak division this year, though one could argue that their strength makes everyone else look weak. They have a pretty good stafff, though after Stewart and Bowman there is a drop off. Chris Parker's work in the off season and the kids dedication to his program has been the key to their season. He will take on anyone at anytime and that lets his guys know that he believes in them. His approach instills confidence. It shows on the field in their approach to the game. No other 9-A school has sent as many kids on to the next level in recent seasons. He will one day very soon make a good fit for a larger school.

Hey Riverdale, how do you guys like the work of Josh Horn?

Who in baseball have they sent other than Comstock

  15. QUOTE(cascade11 @ Apr 24 2007 - 01:47 PM) 826444244I haven't seen Cascade discussed on here much. They are undefeated in District 9A and from what I understand haven't been challenged. Chris Parker has those boys playing great ball this season. They are knocking the crap out of the ball and have one of the best pitching staffs in 1A ball. Cascade should be a team to keep an eye on in State this season! Great job guys! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Cascade 11 lPlease stay on the softball board

  16. QUOTE(cascade11 @ Mar 26 2007 - 09:19 AM) 826422897Anyone have the Grundy County/ Eagleville score from this past weekend? Also did Forrest play more than two games in Florida? How did they look and was the competition tough?

The teams that Forrest played in Florida were all 6A schools. The Lady Rockets did very good against great pitching. I believe that the pitching was as good as anything that we have seen in the State Tournament in Tennessee. We go to Florida to play the best teams that we can fine in the State.

  17. QUOTE(cascade11 @ Mar 14 2007 - 11:21 AM) 826411414Judging by your signature, I'm assuming you girls upset Forrest Tuesday. Congratulations if that is true! That will definitely send a message to the rest of the district..

    Forrest won 16-0 over Eagleville.
