Sammy and Evans and Nick Boykin have been training together and are going.

Now with Junior Duals completed lets talk about Fargo. I think Nick Boykin can do pretty well in the cadet division. With that said I think Chris Debien, Michael Murphy and Sammy Evans all have phenomenal chances of all Americaning in junior freestyle. With Murphy and Debien in Greco also.

I'm excited to see what Evans can do up a weight he was undefeated at cadet and junior duals on freestyle last summer but at 220. Also excited to see Murphy.

Can we get a lineup?

Congrats to all of the wrestlers for bettering theirselves this summer. Whiteside keeps adding to his Greco resume maybe the next Debien? A long shot but it's interesting.

How are our boys doing?

Crazy what happens when Coach Hatcher leaves. The cadet guys that are going to Fargo should go to juinor duals.

I know it's a decent amount of time away, but what if Nick Boykin and Sammy Evans both end up at Chattanooga? With Boykin already having ties with the school and Evans already commiting do you think the Mocs will recruit Boykin? It would be a great problem to have, but with Evans winning the majority of the matches against Boykin would you think Boykin would choose a different school? Just trying to get a little conversation on the board.

I'm not gonna complain about the team we have because I'm just glad to see we have a team up in Iowa getting better competing. I think this is our best team.

We could see an all Tn final at 285 in the sophomore division. Little birdy tells me Sammy Evans is struggling with making 220 and is going 285 this weekend. It would be awesome if he and Boykin met in the finals!

PS: When we say that kids weren't able to compete at the State tournament because of "skin diseases" you need to look at McCallie, CBHS, Overton, WC, etc, etc. regional sites) Most of the ones that Ben oulined were from Chattanooga, so my guess is that those kids are getting it in Chattanooga at their regional tournament and affecting the rest of the state. I know the 160# stae champ broke out with severe Hereps 1 day after the state tournament. As most of us know, it takes 5 - 10 days to inquebate. It must have come from Chattanooga based on the theory that you all are giving.

 

There were "NO" kids....I repaeat "NO" kids that did not get to wrestle in the State tournament because they caught a skin infecton during THE STATE tournament. They came from somewhere else at least 5 days before. This really makes our wrestling community look illiterate.

State Duals is more than 5 days before.

So impressive! Moves to one of the toughest wrestling states there is and still gets it done!

Coach Smith can you give us a tentative line up? I may come down to watch depending on who is on the team this year.

The reason I have Sammy ranked second is he has much more succes on the national level most of the others on this list. Last summer he went to cadet and juinor duals and did not lose a freestyle match. He also broke into flos national rankings. Before his Injury he was ranked 19th in the nation. The only wrestler to be ranked higher is Debien. Sean Kennedy was also ranked 19th at the same time.

I can see him winning that super 32 @ 100% ...and Nick as well - wouldn't that make the news,,, Tennessee Finslists!

That would be incredible! Both of them have a ways too go before they can win that though. Although I would have liked to seen Sammy in freestyle at Fargo. He beat the runner up at cadet duals. It would be cool to see nick at the super 32, but we will have to keep wishing as he is a big time football player also.

I said he won't lose another high school match. I'm assuming he will be at Fargo again. Super 32 probably also because he went his freshman year. Those tournaments do not count on your high school record. So I wasn't counting that as a high school match.

I can see Nick down a pt going into the third, but blowing threw for a td & close decision over a 90% Evans. He is becoming a lot like his brother Scottie now.

Nicks best chance at beating Evans is this spring before he gets back too 100%. I'll call it Evans doesn't loose another high school match in Tennessee. Boykin isn't beating him at 100. We will probably see it at freestyle state if Evans isn't down at 220 by then.
