Good point but I do think Pigeon Forge and Cloudland are better teams than anyone SG has beat.  SG destroyed  um so that tells you nothing. Its gonna be rocking in Hampton tonight.

Do you really think PG and Cloudland are better than Knox Catholic? I’m seriously scratching my head over that.

Joker, I see your new the coachT  game. It's always fun to run someone else's view point on games, but unfortunately you will soon learn why everyone else has stopped committing but about four people. First off uknoit2 always has to have the last word, and loves to blabber about everything and everyone. Secondly you'll learn Hampton has never truly lost a ball game. ESPN should really do a 30 for 30 on them, THE NEVER REALLY BEATEN TEAM. Sure they have had a few games they didn't score as many points as the other team, but THEY didn't really lose. Because either the refs where cheating, or the other team was dirty, or it was because it was on TV, or the wind was blowing, or the sun was in there eyes, or the grass was too green, or the goal post where the wrong color, or the lights were the wrong kind of bulbs, or the bus had to much air in the tires. So when I seen the score of Friday nights game I know right then they didn't "really" lose. And I could wait to get on coachT and see what causes them to have less points than the other team. I wish you luck joker, we are all pulling for you.

I could have written this. I’ve just been laying low, laughing at all the excuses. I know there’s no need to comment, but I’m sure glad you decided to comment.

I’ve seen about 3 different videos of this and to say the call was questionable is kind of you. There were a lot of terrible calls but this one was a game changer.

  4. Senior guard, Braelyn Wykle from South Greene should definitely be in consideration. She has been a key player since her Freshman year for the Rebels. She missed the first half of her Junior year due to injury and was not 100% during the remainder of the season. She has came out this year on fire. She is always fun to watch.

First: Grainger is a very good, young team. They gave South Greene a game tonight. I would not be surprised to see these two teams play again in the tournament.

Second: SG's Braelyn Wykle played very well. Coming back from knee surgery she looked a bit tentative—which is understandable. That was five weeks ago.

Tonight, with SG trailing early, she went three for three on three pointers and got the team back into the game.

Unofficially, Wykle put up 32 points.

When Wykle is back in the groove, SG will go far.

Braelyn was pretty much on it tonight. She finished with 34. 5 of 9 from three. 4 of 5 for two and 11-11 free throws. She had no turnovers, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and one steal. Lamb also had a good game with 24 points and 10 rebounds. She looked very strong tonight against a very good team.

  6. Taylor Lamb, a senior at South Greene, who has committed to Tennessee Tech, should be Miss Basketball. She has been named to all season, all district, all region, and all state every year since her freshman year. She is a two time state champ and two time state tournament MVP in Class A. Her stats have improved this year even though the competition has gotten tougher and will be tougher. She has already been nominated twice and deserves the nomination once again. She continues to improve with each game and makes everyone around her better. She is the ultimate leader and everything a Miss Basketball should be. She is averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block, 3 assists, and 3 steals on a team loaded with other players who can pour in the points and pull down the rebounds. While she could easily try to dominate, she has shown that she is an unselfish player and is known to encourage the younger members of her team. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.

I think 3rd is a good spot for South Greene in their new classification. Braelyn Wykle did not shoot so much in the Ladies Classic, and she missed some shots last week that she would have made last year. That's part of her "coming back". Also, that's my way of agreement with you that she is not yet 100%.

There are times when we, as spectators, need to remind ourselves that these are kids out on the court.

There are other times when we need to recognize their valor and their willingness to give that 100%.

Toward the end of the losing game with West Clermont, my wife nudged me and pointed toward a girl who was vomiting in a trash can across the way.

    It was #11.

    Girl's Basketball can't be beat.

Oh, I agree with you. I also saw her at the trash can and her sister was sitting on the bench with an ice pack to her face. She had a black eye. They took a beating. I am really looking forward to seeing them come tourney time. That's when this team really seems to come together. I heard a lot of people saying this time last year that there was no way they'd repeat as champions. They have a way of getting all the pieces together at just the right time.

Newly released 2018 AA Top 10

     (via Twitter :@tlownsdale)

    1. Upperman (6th overall)

    2. Cumberland County  (8th overall)

    3. South Greene (9th overall)

    4. Martin Westview (11th overall)

    5. Macon County

    6. East Nashville

    7. Pearl Cohn

    8. Dyersburg

    9. Graiger

    10. Meigs County

Thoughts or concerns about this newly released AA Top 10?

South Greene has just gotten their entire roster back with the return of three starters who have been injured. The two returning from ACL tears still need conditioning and are not 100%. As they improve, the lady Rebels are only going to get better. Taylor Lamb has been phenomenal, playing her best ball this year. Against Bradley Central, she went for 32 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks. If you were impressed with her last year, expect to be even more so this year. With the loss of those guards during the first half of the season, Lamb, Williams, and Franklin really stepped up their outside and full court game and look much stronger than the past two years. They will not be an easy out.

  9. Round 1:

Jefferson County over Monacan (VA) 50-32

Knox Webb over West Greene 74-28

Oak Ridge over North Greene 54-31

West Clermont (OH) over Daniel Boone 65-55

Bradley Central over South Forsyth 83-26

    South Greene over Lebanon 79-44

Shelby Valley (KY) over Greeneville 64-56

Morristown West over Chuckey Doak 56-48

I would also add Graninger in over Carter and Fulton.. they lost to South Green by one tonight.

I think you are correct to watch Grainger as they are a strong team. South Greene will look different from here on out. They have not had two starters all season and were down three starters in the Grainger game. Two have been released to play and the other most likely will be released very shortly. All three are guards. I have been impressed with how well they have compromised down that many key players.

South Greene has dominated Single A the past two season, but AA teams are a lot more faster and athletic than any Single A opponents. I'm not sure of the quality in their district and region. Lamb will have a smooth transition. Will South Greene's style of play translate to make a deep run in AA?

Cumberland County has a well coached team and shooters all over the floor.  Going down a classification will help the make it to Murfreesboro. Not to many teams stand a chance playing Riverdale at Riverdale. I do believe that AAA experience will help C.C. get to the Murphy Center in March.

    Should be any interesting season!

I'm excited for the season to start and a little anxious too. South Greene returns all but one and they play fast. I really don't see anyone out running or out hustling, but they have a couple injuries to get through. I haven't heard anything on one of the players, but the other should be back by the first of the year. They also gained some talented freshman but I'm not sure how it all plays in.  I'll know more by Thanksgiving. South Greene has always filled their schedule with AA and AAA schools, so they know what the competition is like. I think they will be competitive from the beginning of the season, but I won't be too concerned if they have some hiccups. Several girls are going to have to pick up new positions to fill the missing shoes while they're out.
