  1. Again, many played a part in the delay of explanations and information. Many have been criticized and Coach Montgomery has been reassigned, but the info forthcoming will at least explain why the Coach did not end the season earlier, why he did not speak to media, etc. While not perfect, the Coach was following instructions given by a very broken system in Hamilton co. and a very problematic school board.

  2. 2nd will definitely come down to McMinn, East Hamilton, and Walker Valley unless you include Bradley.  They still have to go to East Hamilton.  If EHHS can keep people out of foul trouble this time, it could be a different ball game.   I don't see Cleveland changing anything.  Kiser has had the worst luck of any coach in the league with injuries and games missed.  She does a good job.  Just essentially playing varsity games with a JV team.  Take 3 starters away from any team in the district for most of the season and see how they turn out.  It's just unfortunate.

Keep the updates coming Coach and Good luck.

  3. So many have posted very good thoughts and even support / prayers, etc. on this thread while others ......well.... I won't stoop to that level. I would ask that those of you slamming every player, every coach, every administrative personnel and every parent would back off. You can post all the great ideas of what you would do but you have no clue what the School Board members And powers that be are instructing those actually employed by the system to do or not to do, to say or not to say. For those of us that live in this area, actually know some of these kids, these parents, administrators and coaches, we will be dealing with this horrific story for years to come. OHS is a good school with good kids, programs, coaches, administration, etc. 90% of those being hammered on coach T are really good people who love kids and have given their lives to try and make a difference in young lives. Are they perfect? No but neither are any of us. Many of them actually have other ideas of how this should have been handled, but must follow instructions given by those above them in authority positions. As for the very few that have treated young players in ways that are less than human, I assure all of you that their day is coming and their lives will never be the same. The victims are in our prayers as they try to move forward in life. These young men have to start all over at new schools, make all new friends and constantly look over their shoulders in the hallways because everyone in our area knows why they are at different schools today.

So if you that want to rant would join us in unity and remember the victims, their families and the many good people who are trying to move on in life from this in prayer our area would appreciate it.

  4. The Fire had two programs. The original McMinn Fire split several years ago to McMinn Fire and UA Fire, with both programs being competitive in state competition.  One UA Fire team even won the YBOA National Championship in Florida a couple years ago. I'm not sure if the UA Fire will be around since the guy who coached them (he originally started the McMinn Fire programs over a decade ago) has hung it up, but I know the current McMinn Fire program is still going strong.  The older girls are being coached by a college assistant coach.

McMinn Central has been the recipient of most of the talent in the past, but this year a couple of the good freshmen are at McMinn County, one of them probably the best freshman in the county.  McMinn Central has 5 good freshman on their varsity, and could have more if they had room for them.  The best players at both McMinn schools and Meigs County came up through the Fire program.

I'll jump in on the AAU conversation:

McMinn Fire is a very reputable program and has had great success developing players. They have excellent coaching and play at a high level.

TN XTreme is the strongest program in Chattanooga for girls and have the most upper level talent. Multiple DI kids coming out of XTreme program for many years to come.

Alabama Stars have pulled some kids out of our area - 2 notables from Baylor and others.

TN Flight will always have some of the best talent statewide from East to West TN. Good players from our area playing with Flight now and in the past.

There are other programs that give kids opportunities as well. All these programs are needed.

Regardless of opinions of AAU basketball, it allows boys and girls the opportunity to improve their skills and gain exposure to college coaches. Remember college basketball is the same season as high school basketball and many of these kids would not be seen if not for summer AAU seasons. It is very difficult for a college coach to see high school games while in their own season. I respect all those coaches that volunteer their time to work with kids and help develop them.To the young men and women- pursue your dreams and never give up!

  5. Who are the top Chattanooga teams & players this & what big games are coming up?

    Top 3 teams?

    1) Bradley Central

    2) Baylor

    3) Hamilton Heights?

(also - no need for negativity about Hamilton Heights or any other private schools. If you know what they are & what their purpose is, then life can be grand).

    Who are top 3 Players?

I would have HH slightly above Baylor at this point but you are on track with the top 3.

We have a few pretty good teams in Chattanooga area, but these 3 are playing at a higher level of competition/ schedule as well as adding in McMinn Central as a 4th with their excellent player -Lynn. Meigs is strong for their division and also has a really good player- Boggess.

The best teams have the best players and any list begins with Ms. Basketball- Clemmons from Baylor. She can ball and she has a couple kids that can play around her.

HH has a very good guard tandem in Massengill and Harris and several others that will definitely play at the next level. I like Balogun as a prospect. And if you haven't seen their boys play you are missing out.

Bradley Central has Howard and Hughes putting up big numbers and are excellent together. They won the battle in a surprise upset of HH and that is the only reason they can be placed above HH.

I've seen every one of the other girls mentioned on this thread and they are all deserving of the recognition they are receiving. I wish the seniors that have signed all the best in their final semester of high school and beyond in college hoops.

  6. THE OWLS ARE STILL TRYING TO FIND THEIR GROOVE..STILL THINK THE COACH NEEDS TO GO DEEPER ON THE BENCH SO THE STARERS WILL HAVE SOME LEGS TO CLOSE THE GAME OUT WITH...WE ARE LETTING WINNABLE  GAMES SLIP AWAY IN THE FORTH..JUST LIKE WE HAVE BEEN DOING SINCE HE HAS BEEN THE HEAD COACH BECAUSE HE REFUSES TO GIVE THE CLOSERS A BREATHER AROUND THE 6 MIN. MARK OF THE 4TH QTR..WHEN OR IF HE CAN GET SOME SUSTAINABLE RESERVES IN TO KEEP US AFLOAT FOR AT LEAST 2-3 MIN. HE WILL SEE HIS 1-2 RECORD TURN AROUND FAST...I STILL THINK WE WILL FINISH IN THE TOP 4......

Come on now- you've got to leave my man Tank alone. He's a good coach and good man to work with young fellas. Give them some time. They are young and getting all the football out of them takes a little time. They will definitely finish in the top 4 in that district.

  7. Thoughts on the team so far? Thoughts on the upcoming clash with district rival Brainetd?

2 of the best teams in this area. Even though Brainerd has been tested and Central really hasn't, I still give Central a slight edge in this one. I expect this one to go down to the last few possessions. Look for Free Throws to determine this one.

  8. HH should not be even considered with other schools. They arent TSSAA so shouldnt even be in the same discussion as bradley. #playtssaa #ohyeayoucant

Not at all arguing with O2 and don't have a horse in the race with TSSAA,  just recognizing some of the talent in this area. Have watched this area's talent each summer and there are some hard working kids (boys and girls) who have a chance to continue in basketball after high school. We should all hope they get that opportunity.

I mentioned 3 schools who have kids that have had the opportunity to play for some of the best AAU programs and therefore have received some exposure along the way. Tn Xtreme, Alabama Stars, Tn Flight and Lady Ice all have players on these teams playing in some of the best tournaments on the circuit.

Their school teams are equally strong with excellent coaches who are good at player development and usually win a lot of games. I wish all our area schools good luck.

Based on summer interest, HH has as many as 8 guys and 6 girls that will continue their careers at a high level. That is amazing from a small school regardless of what league they play in.

    http://www.hhcahawks.com/teams/default.asp?u=DUKESTONE&s=basketball&p=custom&pagename=Players+Being+Recruited

Baylor has at least 3, maybe more, that will play at a high level including Clemmons- Ms. Basketball (Vandy) Bradley Central has a high level (Howard) just a Sophomore, with other mid major potential from the Tn Flight and Lady Ice programs.

There are plenty of other really good players in the area that may not have the players around them that these do in AAU or school ball. I hope they all receive the recognition they deserve and are able to continue their careers.

  9. Caroline Patrick (my daughter) from Riverdale signs with Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida on Wed.  She is the only Sr I know that is signing early.  It is a young team but it has a tremendous amount of talent in the 9th-11th grades, with several nationally ranked players in 10th-11th.  They should be really good and fun to watch for years to come.  The HH vs Riverdale game will be a really good game.  I watched HH play this weekend.  They have some good players.

Congratulations to you on your daughter. It is truly an honor for a young person to play at the next level and a load off of the parents financially. (congrats to your pocketbook) I hope she has a great season. I am sure I will see her play at some point as I enjoy watching the good teams. Riverdale is one of the best! Good luck to you!

  10. Hamilton Heights travels to Riverdale for the Lady Warriors season opener.

I expect the gym to be full with College Coaches for this one. Numerous prospects on both teams. Have any of the Riverdale girls committed yet? Chattanooga news has announced at least one from HH a couple months ago. Harris to TTU.

  11. Well, it's finally here and practice is beginning. While most don't have the football players and the really good teams may not have them for a few more weeks because of the playoffs, some will gear up pretty good today.

In our area, I am looking forward to seeing:

    City/County

Tyner- always well coached, disciplined and athletic.

Central- very athletic, should be poised to make a run.

McCallie- big time college coach's year 2. Let's see how far they have come.

Hamilton Heights- best but listed 4th as to avoid starting a fire storm on coach t- but LOADED

Brainerd- The biggest question mark on the board to me.

Baylor- saw some good younger talent on the AAU circuit. Bright future.

Ooltewah/ E. Ham- can either of these step up and bump the Cleveland schools out of the top?

    Area:

Cleveland- picked 1st in the media poll for 5AAA very athletic last year with some shooters.

Walker - how good is the 6'7 kid that moved from E Ham/ Lipscomb commit/ injured last year?

Bradley Central- The QB kid was player of the year last year and is back. Any help for him?

All 3 of these were picked above the Chatt teams in that district.

Tennessee board so I will avoid the Dalton and Calhoun GA teams, but there are some good players in the North GA area this year.

Let's get it started!!! Good luck to all the teams. You are all undefeated today.
