Saw one of the best ball games of the year tonight get marred by the ending. Grace up by 2 with 14 seconds left and a ref calls an intentional foul on the inbounds. Coalfield kid gets a T and GCA ends up winning by 6. 12thmanGCA I was really impressed with your son. He had to have around 40 tonight. Difference in the ballgame was at the FT line. CF probably didn't shoot 50% at the stripe while Grace knocked them down.[/quote

Thank you. I was proud of him and the whole team. CJ put in like 9 straight Ft in second half. Everybody stepped up. As far as the technical well the refs hands were tied. By rule if you hold a player before the ball is thrown in then it has to be intentional foul. No other call to make.

i dont wont to start any nonsense on coacht but the game was seprated by like 3 fouls. So good bad ugly it was consistent. And I could see Coalfield fans steaming and yelling over the back but Connor is pretty good at using his 6-8 and 32in vertical to reach over 5-10 250lb kids who don't jump. And thats not a knock it is what it is. You want over the back then box out and jump not just box.

Coalfied played well but again I would bet GCA had 20 turnovers. And most were not due to suffocating coalfield defense. So coalfield is too good to do that and expect in to be a blowout. 21 can play good year for yellow jackets!

We have to fix turnovers to make the boro and all kids everywhere need to play better D

Coalfield had quite a few steals, they play that style of ball.

Yeah, Grace won this one at the charity stripe.
  3. Greenback is the new sheriff in town. I don't know what they lost off of last years squad but if I'm not mistaken it wasn't much. I look for them clean house in the east next year. I just hope we up for the fight when we meet but in reality I believe we be fighting for second.

  4. Thank Ambassador, it'll take bunches of work but thats not anything strange to him. I think you can see his stuff on HUDL.Very impressed with the school and Coaches. 1st class all the way.

Congrats on your son Pujo, sounds like the kid is driven to succeed through all his hard work.
  5. No it was McKinney. It happened around the same time the football program was a down for a couple of years.

Preciate the info, not in the mainstream on basketball. Hill is doing a fine job. If this is the case then he was coaching the middle and high school at same time right.
  6. coalfield, per coach t: 08/09...0-24, 09/10...1-23. Granted, I'm sure talent was bad.... But come on, that's a fairly weak district... You gotta win a few.

I didn't mean for you to back your own comment. I was wanting to hear it from someone else. I just never remember him being the head high school coach. He was coaching little league then. By the way, I mean no disrespect to the current coach, he's doing a good job.
  7. Is it illegal to offer a coach a job at another school??How would someone ever progress. My understanding is his father is a coach and got offered a better job at GCA middle two years ago and it came open again. That's a heck of an offer to turn down.A free private education at a school like GCA not to mention the opportunity to play for the best 1A baseball team in the state.I'm not a private guy but that's a pretty sweet deal.

Yea his dad has coached high school and middle school football. He has also coached middle school basketball, and in my opinion he would be the best fit for our high school basketball program right now. Tell me this O&B, would you have sent your boy(s) to Grace if if they had the opportunity?
  8. Gentlemen, no one has any plans of leaving. We have had several opportunities from around the area in all classifications to make a change, but nothing is like small town class A football. It is truly a blessing to be apart of a special community . There is a lot of enjoyment and respect with the relationships built with other coaches and teams in the area. I also look forward to my son and nephew being apart of these special things in small town traditions as they grow up and play together. Hope this helps settle things down. God bless and Happy New Year to all!

There we have it from the horses mouth!
  9. Not necessarily because GB had a receiver that had more yards and receptions and overall all purpose yards than Lowe and he also had double digit INTs and more TDs and this was with an all state RB on the team who got his fair share of touches. GB shares the wealth offensively which makes it harder for the QB and backs to rack up numbers because of the balance. Our QB had over 3,000 all purpose yards and almost 30 TDs entire season and that wasn't enough. Not to mention 3 INTs returned for 2 TDs in very limited Defensive play and none of his yards were on special teams because they don't play QB on kick returns due to potential injury. Also punts and averages mid 40s doing so. We just didn't punt very often. My understanding is you make all state for a position. It is either offense or defense. I am not sure if they take in to consideration your overall stats or not on both sides of the ball. There is also what I gather as a catch all position on O and D they refer to as Athlete which is where I thought our QB may have got the nod behind Dresser Winn and Preston Rice who had the 2 QB positions locked up. They were from the West and were Mr. Football back runner up and champ. I do believe their stats were comparable to our QB but they probably took into consideration the overall talent level they play against. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was asked how this is picked and I assumed it was based heavily on the raw stats of the individual. If anyone knows how this process works please share.

    Incredible detail!
  10. Greenback has went silent. They are all out recruiting the area. Greenback should again be the team to beat in the east for 2016. Hopefully, we will be improved enough to make it to a semifinal game at Beene Stadium with The Nation.

I'm think Greenback and South Pitt in the semi's next year.
  11. Loudon(your team)lost a good coach in Harig and gained a..Well let's say a not so good in Campbell.Kids in Loudon can go to ANY Loudon county school and GB has finally got the facilities to draw some of those kids that have turned their noses up for years and its about time. That's not recruiting it being fortunate!Who wouldn't want to play for the most consistent winning program in the county. Its only gonna get worse for Loudon until you all get another good coach,Loudon HAD a good tradition with Harig.Loudon being in Alcoa's region DOES NOT help either. To call it recruiting is kinda childish.Your welcome to come buy you a spot on our fence!

Does that fence money pay the recruits.
