  1. A lot of truth to this statement. I have said this for years about Maryville. They have you beat before you take the field, because teams expect to lose to them.

That's the one thing I noticed when I moved here from EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA.Is how everyone builds MVILLE up.And really no disrespect to MVILLE.Until someone can battle them on the field they should walk around like the BIG DOGS!!..Cause they are.But other teams seeming like they go though the motions when they play them is unlike anything I've ever seen.Every team can be beat, even MVILLE.But I think it's more of a mind thing instead of a talent one.Just my thoughts.
  2. After we played DB if you would have told me they would end up @ 4-6 I would've said you was a da&^ fool, but I be danged if they didn't.

It just seems like to me that DB wasn't prepared for a few games.Who does that fall on?.THE COACHING STAFF!!..Even though DB is 4-6,I just don't believe there a 4-6 team!!!..This isn't COLLEGE or PRO ball. But when do you hold the HC accountable?.And yes if DB was 7-3 or 8-2 or even 9-1 I probably don't make this topic. The fact is they ain't any of those, there 4-6 and I know KINGSPORT has a lot better talent to be setting at 4-6 right now with 4 home losses and 3 home losses in a row.
  3. Not to mention, I don't think they want to be in the same district as maryville lol

Comments like this is why we need change.I have much RESPECT for MVILLE.But there not UNBEATABLE!!..Folks put them up on a pedestal and a lot of teams are beat before they step on the field with them.I'm not saying making coaching changes will help beat MVILLE.I'm saying getting somebody on the sidelines that will get DB players and fans to believe they belong on the field with them.It just seems to me that the DB COACHING STAFF from top to bottom are content and complacent with the program.
  4. I'll be the first to say it.IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!...GC has gave it his all and DB NATION appreciate all he has done.Show him by naming the field after him.But there's time for change and it should be the whole coaching staff!.Its easy to place the blame on GC.But there's a lot more needs to be done rather than changing the HC.I say lay down the money and bring in a new staf and put GC at AD.DB needs new blood.Someone that will come in and fire this program back up.BALLARD at GVILLE would be a good choice,or RANKIN at ALCOA and I'd throw in SWITTIN at BETSY.And there's two to three more that you can throw in there. And then let them make the choices of whose on the staff.CARTER has proven he's figured GC out and me personally don't see GC being able to beat him again.BALLARD would be the best choice, because he's a proven winner and has don't it at the 4A level. The board of education needs to do what they need to do to get him to DB so he can have a go at it on the 6A level!INGLE MARTIN would be another good fit.Heck!!!..Call up the OLD BALL COACH and see what they can get out of him. We've changed assistants the past few yrs,now it's time to start at the top.Just interesting to see what others think and what other coaches they could come up with.

  5. I was impressed with the way the Cyclones didn't fold when they got down 14-0. They never gave up and fought hard all night. I was certainly impressed with that "never say die" attitude. However, as I stated earlier, the overall play of both teams really didn't impress me. I don't know if it was first game jitters or what but both teams simply didn't look all that good. The passing game for both teams needs a lot of work. SH looked a little better passing the ball but not by much. I thought Elizabethton looked pretty much on par with the Toppers as far as the run game goes. Neither QB looked sharp. Bedard had 3-4 big plays in the air but he also had a ton of incompletions and what, 2-3 interceptions? Both teams need to improve in the red zone. SH had numerous opportunities (4 or 5) in the red zone and shot themselves in the foot with either a dumb penalty or a turnover. Elizabethton had either one or two missed opportunities in the red zone as well.

The way I saw it both the Toppers and Cyclones have a whole lot they need to improve on.

For BETSEY to play y'all to a 28-21 score it would seem they have a little less to work on than SH!!
