Very strong center mids! Not sure they field 11 quality players though.

Haha, will do! I hope y'all are doing well. Well originally I would have said Nolensville and then toss up between Sycamore and WHH, however since Sycamore and Nolensville play each other in region Semis, I will say the winner of that and WHH will come out of there. I wouldn't count out Central Magnet though. I believe WHH, MLK, CM, and Nolensville (although it could very well be Sycamore) will win their semifinal round. Then WHH and the Nolensville/Sycamore winner will win their respective regions. Should be a lot of fun! Personally, I am rooting for MLK and HF. Good luck to all!

Sycamore and Nolensville are very, very good and they couldn’t play more differently. Nolensville is a tactical/possession-oriented team. Sycamore is an athletic, fast-paced/countering team. I’m thinking Nolensville in a close one (3-2).

CM will have no problem dismantling Fairview. CM wins big.

White House is so, so young. I know nothing about MLK but do know White House lost big to Hume Fogg, so I’m thinking MLK by a few (5-2).

Heritage is tough and haven’t lost since late August. I know nothing about Hume-Fogg either. Purely based on scorelines, I’m going Heritage on their home field.

This would match-up CM with Nolensville. Nolensville wins a close one (2-1). The winner of this game should advance to state.

Heritage and MLK: For the same reasons above, Heritage.

Heritage v. CM/Nolensville loser= based on bias, I think heritage to make their first state tourney.

*what a tough section to get out of. The two teams who advance are extremely deserving and will make noise in the state tournament.

Nolensville was the District 11-AA regular season champion, so they get an automatic birth into the region tournament.  They will now be the #2 seed out of District 11-AA.  The winner of tournament championship game between Central Magnet and Page will be the #1 seed, with the loser of that game going home.

Thanks for the update. Looks like Nolensville the I’ll have a date with sycamore in first round of regions. That game will be a doozy. Sycamore has an extremely strong team this year.

Hume Fogg beat Republic 4-1 I believe. MLK hosts Hume Fogg in the District Championship, and if it is anything like it was in the regular season, it will be an exciting game. They tied 1-1, but MLK outshot Hume Fogg like 17-4. The Hume Fogg keeper played the game of her life, and was easily the MVP of that game. Fun fact, after talking with the previous Hume Fogg coach, we believe the last time MLK may have beat Hume Fogg in girls soccer was 1996. They have tied a couple of times, but it has been around 20 years since MLK last beat Hume Fogg.

Wow! Good luck to you all. Should be a fun regional with Hume Fogg, MLK, and the two White House teams.

Big upset in AA soccer. Nolensville losses in District Semifinals to Page in PKs. Nolensville had been one of the better teams in AA throughout the year. That does seem to be a rivalry game however, which always seems to be close.

Nolensville is ranked #1 in the Eurosport AA state poll. They are an incredibly talented team. It’s sad to see them go so early. I had no clue it ended in penalties (good insight).

Credit to Coach Clapp and the Page girls. One could argue this district has five of the top ten teams in the state in it. Tullahoma, Spring Hill, and Nolensville seem to be the unfortunate casualties of the brutal nature of the district.

Saw where MLK won tonight. Any word on the Hume Fogg game or who they played?

  6. Unfortunately, everyone immediately jumps to talking about the coach here. Why? Because reprimanding the coach is more "exciting" than talking about the kid, herself.

It should be noted Molly Smith is an incredible kid who works hard no matter the score. I had the opportunity to see her losing 8-0 working her tail off for her team. She is heads above the rest of her team, but, instead of running to another school like most kids do, she is content in working with the teammates she has and stays positive despite the scoreline. Much, much respect for her!

I am not defending the coach, nor do I think it was the right decision to leave her in this long in a game well in-hand; however, some times the "bright side" of the story needs to be relayed. We seem to be all too negative on sites such as these.

In Class "A" here are some teams to watch.

    Signal Mountain is always good.

Chucky Doak and University High are strong teams from upper East Tennessee.

Polk County seems to be building. They had a great showing at State last Fall.

Madison Magnet from Middle Tennessee is well coached and is always a threat.

In our District, which I think is very tough, all I can say is everyone can play and on a given night anyone can win. We have the utmost respect for all those in our District as well as all of Class "A".

I really don't know much about the West Tennessee schools. There are some very good teams in Class "A" across Tennessee.

I hope I have not left anyone out. If so, please accept my humble apologies.

    As always, "Go Lady T's"!!!

    Alcoa Dad

I hear Merroll Hyde is very strong this year. Might want to watch out for them in single A.

  8. AA: the favorite on paper has to be Greeneville. Nolensville’s team should be very good (huge credit to Coach Shelton). Never count Page out. Beech leaving AA helps some underdogs, although they lost a lot from last year (tough sledding for those ladies this year in a brutal district). District 9 has posted the last two state champions (mad shoutout to Felzien and Ferguson). Calling a Greeneville or Middle TN champ this year.

  9. So it seems the first part of your discussion pivots on districts 9-12. Here are my thoughts on those for post-season predictions:

District 9: White House, WH-Heritage, and Beech are the frontrunners. Macon Co. has a puncher's chance as well. They have enough attack to be dangerous. Two quality teams will get out of this district. There seems to be a vital importance to win this district to avoid Hume-Fogg in the region semi-finals.

District 10: Hume-Fogg is the clear and convincing frontrunner. MLK looks to be a clear leader for 2nd place.

District 11: Wow!!! Possibly the deepest district in AA history. So tough! Page is so solid all over the field, Giles Co plays extremely hard and has enough talent to be dangerous, Nolensville has a talented Freshman class mixed with some girls who have a lot of high school playing experience, and Central has an outside chance, too (very well-coached team and sound defensively). My prediction is Nolensville and Page (either of which would be a frontrunner to win the state tournament). Whoever wins this district deserves the highest of kudos.

District 12: Sycamore and Fairview will come out of this district. Sycamore has a solid attack that can be dangerous. Unfortunately, Sycamore will be playing in an extremely tough region semi-finals game, even if they win their district. The nature of the beast.

With all this mid-state commentary aside, Knox Catholic is loaded. At this point in the year, they would have to be the favorites to win the whole thing.

*Reiterating Playerscoach: a few injuries can turn all this stuff on its head. Good luck to all!

One question if you dont mind. USN lost Rabb and another great HS attacker from last year. How will DCA match up with them?

    Thank you.

I think it's a good match-up between the two sides. USN has a Center back (#5) that is very solid. #10 is also a special player that seemed to have an off day against WHH. Crafty Center mid nonetheless.

Up top, I didn't see much; however, they did score 4 goals on Beech so maybe it was an off day for the entire side.

In my opinion, from what I saw, USN may be deeper, but DCA definitely has the top end talent.

WHH was much better and should have easily won. DCA has a ton of work to do and #19 does as well. She took a ton of hopelessly bad shots and made some bad decisions. Effort and physicality were good though. First game excitement against a high quality team fueled that fire. Lol

The next three games vs CPA, Sycamore, and FRA should expose many areas that need improvement.

WHH is exactly what I thought they would be. Good coaching with very talented players.

    Best of luck to you!

This is exactly the game both teams needed early on in the year. DCA finished their opportunities nicely and Heritage was a bit lackluster in the final third and woke up much too late in the game. Such an enjoyable game though and both teams got better by the game's end.

Your daughter is an extremely special talent and will keep DCA competitive in many games this year. Teams like CPA, ECS, and USN might not want to sleep on DCA. Between 19, 10, and 6, their offense will keep any defense honest.

Keep me updated on how y'all  do this year. Best of luck!

  12. 19 minutes ago, Playerscoach said:

Should be neat. DCA has only had one scrimmage and looked rusty. They have 7 girls either new starters or playing a new position.

I am certain #19 won't get three again after the talk the WHH coach had with his team after last years 3-3 result.  :)

WHH is the favorite in this one. DCA will be good by the end of the years if they stay injury free. Right now though they aren't ready for such a good opponent.

:D now that was one unhappy soccer coach.

  13. 23 hours ago, Playerscoach said:

USN has several TSC ECNL players. They have a great keeper going to Penn and some backs that are very good.

Makes DCA an even bigger underdog. 5-1 WHH is my prediction.

They did have some quality players: #5 in the back was a very talented center back and #10 in the midfield was crafty as well.

4-0 may have been a bit of an inflated score line. The game was 0-0 at half and Heritage came out for the 2nd half with a completely different mindset.

Looking forward to witnessing a great game Tuesday. I think both teams are going to get better by playing each other.

  14. 15 hours ago, Playerscoach said:

Haha. Nope. We have great midfielders in Maria Frazier and Katelyn Matheson. Big, athletic, and talented. Both have started on the HS team since 8th grade. We also have some hard working talented Jrs and underclassmen. Two really talented freshman will also be a part of a good nucleus for DCA. Jaylee Lopez is by far the most athletic and fastest girl in the school. She is a game changer in the channels. Reagan Smiley is a great player on TN Uniteds u14 state championship team and she is an all state caliber player for DCA. Not having her in the playoffs hurt DCA last season.

Coach Matt Smith has been a great coach for Trevecca for almost a decade and what he does to make DCA competitive is remarkable. For a softball school the soccer program is doing well. :)

Maybe this year with a great deal of luck the lady cats can make some noise? The early season schedule of WHH, Cane Ridge, Ensworth, Sycamore, CPA, and FRA should help the younger lady cats prepare for post season play.

Sounds like you all will give Sycamore and WHH all they want. Should be some exciting games. Good luck on your season!

  15. 25 minutes ago, Playerscoach said:

I saw Sycamore last year and thought they were better than they had been in the past.

We play both WHH and  Sycamore the first week of the season. DCA will have a very tough time with both and will be heavy underdogs.

Hmmm...as I recall, DCA has a player on another level that keeps her team in about any game. Special talent. You wouldn't happen to know this player would you? ;)

  16. The asterisk comment is absurd. TSSAA clearly saw an issue and worked diligently to fix it. Under your current logic, if you have to beat the best to be the best, then we should throw out classifications altogether and just have one state champion.

While we are at it, let's go ahead and call the NCAA and lump all those teams sanctioned under the NCAA together as well. Should work well, right? A football matchup between Minn. Deluth and the Univ. of Alabama really intrigues me.  I am on the edge of my seat just thinking about it.

You know what, let's adopt it in professional sports realm as well. Nashville FC vs. LA Galaxy. There's a doozy for you. Forget the amount of resources each club has. You have to beat the best to be the best.

Fifty years down the road we could have that Cinderella story where the school with 100 students beats the school with over 2,000 and hoist the trophy in the Boro. What a moment that would be. Real David and Goliath stuff right there.

  17. Quarterfinal matchups are chalk: (and I am concerned about how one-sided some of these games may become) (does mercy rule apply in the state tourney?)

    East Hamilton v. White House

    Page v. Greeneville

Final predictions are a bit more dicey as all four of these teams are extremely deserving. I have:

White House v. Greeneville (wouldn't shock me to see Page or East Hamilton there though)

    Winner: Greeneville repeats

  18. Yes, quarterfinal games are pretty weak given the vast array of teams in this district:

    Quarterfinals:

    White House v. Bye

    Beech v. Springfield

    WH-Heritage v. Greenbrier

Macon Co. v. Portland (should be the only game on interest in first round)

Semis are at WH-Heritage on Tuesday at 5 and 7.

Looks to be White House playing Macon Co./Portland winner (5pm)

Beech v. Heritage despite something crazy (7pm)

Championship at 7 Thursday at Heritage
